Electric heat will heat just as well as natural gas, oil, propane, wood, or whatever. As long as you buy a big enough heater to do the job, and can afford the electricity, an electric heater will be fine. In most locales, gas or oil is cheaper per unit of heat, so electricity is chosen as a primary heat source less often. Electric heaters are inexpensive though, and providing electricity is often easier and cheaper than plumbing gas. And electricity needs no venting, which reduces the installation cost and can increase safety.

my plumbers are in the house as we speak. maybe i should get them too put in a gas line to the garage. i might use it some time.

maybe ill see how expensive the electrical bill can get before i install a furnace

by the way, you should post some pictures of your Jeeps.

im 20 now and iv had 4 already. looking for a minty CJ-7... hard to find something like that where i live

We get temps down to -30 C as well. I have a double car garage fully insulated. I use the 240v heater from home depot or rona i think it was. Just over $100 bucks. I can work in shorts on low. 240 v 30 amp i think. Square red or orange box.

Personally, I'd hate to lose that wattage that could be going to a piece of shop equipment; welder, table saw, dust collector, air compressor, etc. Thats one of the reasons I went with gas.

I have one of those heater it will work well in a 2 car garage that is insulated.
It takes about 15 minutes to feel a difference in temperature.. then it's as hot as you like (depending on the outside) and as fast as your meter can spin :O

It depends on your needs, if you don't want to deal with gas and venting requirements then this is the way to go, but cost to operate is more.. most house hold use more electricity than gas already.

Like Poorowner said, I fire it up 15 min before I go out there , warm as anything then turn it off when I am done. Its also on a cord so I can move it around to any area

Just like the yellow one. Yes it draws 30 amps when running but I have a 100 amp service in the garage so still have lots of power. Those little heaters work great
