i am thinking about to put two swivel casters (1500 lbs each) on my middle KRL1003 to have 6 casters instead 4 casters as i have KRL1203 chest on it. while i own it for half year, it get more and more tools in, casters are start to get close and closer to shop floor... the KRL1003 had 1500 lbs casters on it which it will hold 6,000 lbs of weights.

i did discuss with other techs about it and some of them said No i dont need to do... while other techs said yeah, it is good idea to protect and increase the support on toolboxes...

So i did discuss with my snap on guy today. i was almost fall down when i get the quote. it is 234 dollars for ONE swivel caster (1500 lbs) which i need TWO swivel casters to support both side that come to 468 dollars for just casters... my snap on guy was shock about it and tried to find other way for low price... no luck... i did not tell him to order because too PRICEY!!!

I know that Faultless company who make it for Snap on and other toolboxes business..

any ideas????

I would try Grainger. They have a huge selection and you should be able to find something that will work. I use E.R.Wagner casters for building road cases t work and have had good success. A brief check found 6" US made casters rated at 1200 lbs. for $50.00 ea. Good luck.

actually if the structure of the box was not designed to have a load applied at that point you could do more damage to the box than good

SH1435-6x2TGbrk are 6 in diameter and 1200 lbs load.. my KRL1003 are 1500 lbs load casters...

I called AIG Casters and they're suppose to get a price for me, but I haven't heard back from them yet.

Separately, I called a local caster supply and they're gonna get me a price tomorrow.

1500 pound capacity are the 8 inch casters - you don't have 8 inchers on there do you?

agreed.........besides if you have ever loaded a box with 6 casters on a trailer or a rollback you wouldn't even consider doing it!

Yeah but my snap on guy recommend me to have 6 casters to support whole chest and bottom box even hold full loaded of tools and still work fine.

If I need move to other job in case, I would just pull heavy tools out and put in my truck while have tow truck to pull it on flat bed.. It is just plan for me in future...

Awesome thread - For a decent price, I would swap on new casters. My current ones are worn down and don't lock well at all anymore.

problem is the colson casters dont have spring loaded to parking on not even floor at my work like Faultless casters..

*shrug* I guess it might be a point if the floor is really bad. Everybody at work takes off their faultless casters and runs colson casters without issue, and the floors are sloped for drains and such.

my dealership are about 45 years old even floors are not that strong concrete as if heavy metal like rotor to floor, it will mess the floor..

if i know that floor are flat and even then i am happy to swap all for higher load like 2,000 lbs 6 casters to put in but that floor are not even flat or even so i need spring load casters...

The guy called me back this morning. The price is $65.00 EACH + shipping. He said shipping would be $20.00 at the very most for the pair. You're looking at about $150.00 for the pair shipped. Make sure you ask for Tom and tell him he quoted the price to 'Vance' from California.

Merk - Are these the same faultless casters that come stock on the Matco and Snap-On boxes? I take it this PN is not the locking casters?

They're the stock casters in the Fautless image posted earlier in the other thread. Matco had black thread guards (hubcaps) on theirs - Snap-on always specified the silver thread guards. Matco used some of the 8 inch versions of these casters - Snap-on always used the 6 inch versions as far as I know. The part number is for the 6 inch swivels with brakes.

Yep, that's a smart thing to do. Lessen the strain on the box while you move it. You can remove a lot of weight just by taking the heaviest stuff out.

I think Snap-on is lying to you. Right there in black and white is says the 6x2's are rated 1200lbs. each and the 8x2's are rated at 1500lbs. each. :dunno:

i did look at snap on website and said on website.

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...&group_ID=3159&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

so what can i do? put 1200lbs casters on middle of KRl1003 while four 1500 casters on both end?? must be same 1500lbs casters on middle of box??

Holy Smokes!! :eek2: $234.00 ?!!? :eek2: Snap-on is making a killing on them!! :wtf:

I still think Snap-on is wrong about that capacity - Fautless is only listing two different tread compounds in their online catalog.
