Anyone know anything about the new Craftsman Edge boxes?

It looks like a pretty nice box and I'm sure it will be available for 50% off at the right time of year. Any idea how it would compare to the HF 26" box? I know the HF comes with a top chest as well for about half the money, but this one looks like it's pretty high quality. It weighs in at over 150 pounds and can hold 100 pounds per drawer. I also like the fact that the top drawer is deeper and that it has a locking mechanism on the drawers which would be handy to use as a tool cart.

Looking forward to your opinions.

Ha ha! Yeah, I hear you. But take a look...it looks very high quality and if it's anything else like Sears, it will be 50% off at least twice a year. So evaluate it at $350.

At $350 I would go buy a HF 44" box and be done with it. Although it may look high quality ever c - man box iv seen lately is junk. Sad but true.

For $ 70.00 more than that box, you could buy the HF 56" roller cabinet, when it's on sale...

For the money that Sears wants for that box, you could buy TWO HF 44" Rollers!!!

I agree that they look nice on the website but my problem with Sears is that they have a ton of products that they have online but not in their brick and mortar stores. I would never spend that kind of money without being able to see it and touch it in person. It seems like the Sears stores keep getting smaller and smaller while the website continues to grow.

It is the same as the premium heavy duty boxes, but with nicer trim and in blue. They are part of the newer US made Waterloo boxes that sears is hoping will make people forget the last few years of ****. It feels nice in the store, US made, lifetime warranty, and keep a eye out for 50% off.

You can see the same box but just in red at most stores, and yep sears keeps looking at amazon and how they are making money

I agree and the 41 inch top and bottom went for 749 a few months ago.

The 41inch is 100 per drawer and 1200 for the chest

Waterloo box made in Missouri, Some of the waterloo boxes are made in mexico also, but the 'Pro" line is us.

You will find nothing on sears site about COO anymore. Like I said I will go by a store tomorrow and take a picture for you. Would go tonight but i think they are closed

I know Seems like a lot of fuss over COO on a tool box he doesn't own and obviously isn't going to buy Apparently COO doesn't bother him on the HF box...

A bit pricey but if they're USA made and of sound construction its definitely a very good alternative/middle ground for someone who doesn't want a China box but thinks truck box prices are insane. They look largely identical to many of the Proto boxes however being Sears these will be far more accessible.

A closer comparison would be the 40" model which has a listed load limit of 1200lb on the casters. Considering the HF is only a hair heavier than the Cman either waterloo is being ultra conservative, or HF is unrealistic. Im going with the latter. Even still at 1200lb limit, with both the cabinet and top chest, you can still place nearly 900lb of tools in the thing which I think anyone, pro or home owner, is going to be hard pressed to do unless they fill every drawer with lead.

Also note the Craftsman box has a 100lb rating per drawer slide. HF 44 is between 60-80lb.

I'd at least be interested, but not at those prices. Seriously? I recently bought the "heavy duty" Craftsman 26" for $129 and it's made by Waterloo. It's assembled in USA of USA and global components. I do know it's stamped on the "I" frame patented by Waterloo. For $129 it was a decent amount of storage for minimal money. I also have the HF 44 and it's WAY better built. If somebody could find out what gauge metal they use on these new Craftsman boxes that would be interesting. I looked at the PDF of the box and I did find it interesting that the casters have zerk fittings and that the box is not designed to be lifted with a forklift.

People don't talk about it but Craftsman hand tools were bottom of the barrel USA product for a good 5 years prior to the offshoring. Just because they were USA made didn't make them some premier product. These boxes on the other hand, well put it this way, they cant be any worse than the Chinese made boxes they were slinging for all those years. There was only room for improvement.

Has anyone actually touched one of these boxes? They look nice from the website. Griplatch has always been appealing to me. And Sears just keeps throwing SYWR points at me......

Funny you mention 50% off twice a year. I went and checked this one out yesterday for on top of my HF 44. A frog hair better built than the HF top, the drawer layout puts a full size drawer right above my current one and with coupons and discount for sears card it came to 273 out the door, COO Mexico. It will be at the store next monday. I snapped these pics right after i was told a different box was stainless.

Don't you think if this box was USA manufactured that their web page and product packaging would be splattered with giant American flags and Made In USA logos? Why would they not take advantage of that fact and flaunt the COO for all to see? Granted, Sears hasn't lately been accused of being brilliant marketers but still, anybody would know to do this.

I have no idea where this box is made. It is a nice looking box and feels good in person but without some kind of COO commitment from Sears I'll have my doubts about it not being an import box.

When you return something and ask you for the reason, the computer has a box that they can check for that reason being made in china.

Pretty sure you are correct. I saw a slightly damaged Edge box at a local Sears. It looked like it was made by Waterloo, and was no better quality than the rest of the Craftsman boxes out on the floor.

For having as many posts on here as you do, you should know by now that there are different grades of stainless, with some being magnetic. Maybe you should do some research on the subject you are posting about.
