Die grinder suggestions

So, my 10 year old Husky die grinder pissed me off for the last time today. Recently, it has gotten in the habit of the motor assembly unscrewing from the body while I am using it. Today it did it and almost sent a de-burring bit into my face, so it ended up in the round filing cabinet.

Now I am on the hunt for a new one.

Ive had my eye on the Sunex SX5210. Anybody have any experience with it? I have mixed emotions with Sunex stuff so I am a bit hesitant. Its either that or the Ingersoll Rand IR3108.

Im open to other suggestions too and all input is valued.

Thanks

I like the IR ones also, but the last one I bought was made in China. I've had it maybe a year and haven't had any problems out of it yet.

My top pick would be Dotco, but good luck affording one.

For general use, I like Ir stuff. I also have many cheap hf ones that hold different things that I use everyday. One for a roloc disk, one for a wire wheel, one for a crapper die grinder carbide. I save my nice die grinder for precison work when more power and good throttle control are needed. I use cheap ones for consumables, and the die grinders themselves are consumable. That said, all of them need maintenence, even the nice ones. Blue locktite if things come loose. Oil after every use. Grease the angled ones with the gears.

I'm not knocking the Dotco stuff, but why in the hell is it so high priced ? How much better can a die grinder be made ? just curious.

They are robust, very well made, repairable, last a *very* long time if maintained, and are American Made.

I'll give another vote to Ingersoll Rand. Prices are reasonable, and they outlast big box store brands. I tried to be cheap with my current die grinder ($30 type) and I'm not joking when I say it lasted barely 60secs. Caved and spent the little extra for an IR Edge 3107 and I've been happy since. I'm currently hunting for an angle die grinder and struggling to again find better value than IR.

I bought the 99$ Ingersoll Die Grinder Kit from Sears, I'm impressed with it for what I paid for it.......

I'm looking at this as well, except an angle die grinder vs a straight one. Not sure which the OP's looking for. I too am considering IR. If you get that one I'd love to hear how a newer one does now that they're made overseas.
