Yeh, it's a bummer.. Oh well. If that's the type of guy he is, he didn't need my $$$.
Not a desk, but I think it fits in the category.
My stainless medical cabinet.

That is a whole different level. Very nice. You aren't picking one of those up for $10 on Craigslist. That's a $1000 unit for sure.

Nice chair! One of my favorite albums in the background..Rock n Roll Animal.![]()
Yep, great album! I use the album covers to hide the barely arranged books & misc stuff on the shelves, they fit the openings almost perfectly.

If anyone is near Augusta, there's a good looking desk for $30! I already have one and don't feel like making the 3 hour round trip to get this one

Couldn't say it better myself. That's an epic score!!
On the other hand, I'd have lingering doubts about using medical furniture of uncertain origin around foodstuffs, but I'd probably get over it![]()

I just found this one on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/111665481/vintage-stripped-steel-roll-top-desk?ref=favs_view_2
Never seen a metal roll top before.
Mine looks almost identical to Ragged Earl's. Mine is Globe Wernicke.
I was right, I'm getting it for free.
It's in a friend's shed behind the country store they bought a few years ago.
When he bought it, the meat slicer called the desktop home.
He's letting me use his trailer and helping me move it.
Edit:
Cleaned up some. I'll have to do something for the top, it's trashed.

Nice!
I foolishly passed up one of those on cl for $30 because I wasn't ready to get one yet. Now the ones I find are $600 and up.![]()

Might check any nearby universities or colleges to see if they sell thier surplus office furniture. Bought a really nice tanker desk and matching chair for $35 from the nearby ND surplus store. Another reasonable source is Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Over this past weekend, I saw three tanker desks at the local ReStore. Highest priced one was $35 but likely worth it as it was in great shape and had the extra large desk top (i.e. extended about a foot past each end). Cheapest was under $5 but could have been refinished and was extra cool with the two workstation layout. Didn't need another one, so passed on them.
It's all about the photographyCheck out the prices on the junk these guys peddle: http://www.factory20.com
I'll be the first to admit I love that junk, but I wouldn't pay those prices...
