craftsman tapered handle screwdrivers

does anyone know where one can find the craftsman screwdrivers with the tapered handles?

there like the black professional ones only they were the traditional red clear and blue color scheme.

im trying to re-acquire them as they were my first set of drivers and i really liked them.

any help would be much appreciated.

Are these the ones you are asking about? I found the pic online, but I don't know if Sears still sells them. If not, ebay sellers probably do.

I know exactly what he is talking about. They look kind of like the Stanley drivers posted above. Probably from the 1980s if I had to guess.

the screwdrivers in question are the original craftsman pro's before they went to solid black handles. Same shape, just the traditional blue/clear ans red/clear handles.

When I started working in '90, they had already switched to black, so it was before that.

Yeah, what Metaldad posted! They had a couple like that in the maintenance shop at the student union at UT. Very well used over the years

Kind of funny, I have 1 like metaldad posted, it mysteriously appeared in my tool box when I had been away on vacation. I asked my buddy who has access to my shop if he left it there, he didn't know anything about it. Weird.

how can you tell if a craftsman screwdriver has been hot forged?

i only have one of the older style pictured, but its only red and white, no blue ring. id have to guess its an earlier piece.

Think of the tapered handle found on the old style craftsman professional screwdrivers. The ones that were all black or had orange handles with black blades. Now picture that handle style being a little larger and clear acetate with the red for flat tips and blue for phillips sizes.
They were a short run series back in the Early 1990s.

You can still find singles and small sets, but not the big set...

SK still has them available as their "Cushion Grip Screwdrivers"...

Actually, Brownsfan is correct, HD does carry a set of Husky screwdrivers that have handles very similar (maybe not identical) to the old Cmans.

Not sure if they are available as individual drivers or not. Really not a bad set for $8, but I've actually never used any of them as I purchased several sets of these screwdrivers for "car" toolboxes, and, so far, haven't needed to use them. The sets I bought were also made in USA.
