Posted awhile back about the Advantage lifts I saw at the Mecum auction in Florida. Did more research and decided to purchase one. Here are pics of the finished product. I assembled myself with help on putting the tracks in due to their length and weight. Instructions were good with many pictures, called with one question and was given an answer on the spot. Received all at a freight forwarder, they loaded on my 16' trailer and off I went. Took all of 10 minutes.

I posted shop pics as I built it but will post more now that it is in use. Can't figure out the pics; taken right side up, preview is right side up, but posted sometimes rotate sometimes not. Maybe I should use the PC instead of the IPad.

The truck is a restore/hot rod project. One owner (father in law) but it's been sitting for 23 years. Quite a project.

I did everything myself except putting the two tracks down. I have an overhead gantry crane which helped with the weight. Their procedure is simple, well illustrated manual helps a lot. It took me two days, not pressing, to get it in the air the first time. Hardest part is the weight of everything. Cables are all pre-routed, just have to connect each at the posts. Adjustment took all of 15 minutes.

The car is a Oldsmobile 1970 442 W-30 replica. It started life as a holiday coupe but a 2013 build changed all that. Bought it a Mecum auction last month.

Great I've got a forklift & a overhead crane . I 'm guessing the manual is in the package somewhere.

$2300 with rolling jack tray, drip pans and wheels (not pictured). Delivery was $300.

Whoa, just went back and re-read. So it was only $2,300? Was this a promotional price at Mecum? I was there, but didn't see the lifts :dunno:

It was in the vendors tent right across from the muscle car art booth. Price was advertised for the auction but you never know, it's worth a call.

Thanks - do you have a point of contact to reference?

And how is this lift when compared directly to the Backyard Buddy, which I presume you compared?

The internets aren't as big and distant as we think. LOL
I too am a member over at Classic Olds, (midrange) and saw your thread on your auction purchase. Congrats, that's a beautiful car. :3gears:
And nice lift also.

Sorry, I've been traveling. I mainly compared it to the bendpak since that seemed to be the consensus on this forum. I know there are amny opinions but reading for several months it was clear to me that it had the majority approval rating.

The point of contact. Is the phone number on the website. There are three people who will answer and all of them have the information.

Update on the lift. The hydraulic ram starting leaking on me after a few weeks of use. I called Advantage and they had a new ram to me in three days. The offered to pay for a repairman to change the cylinder or told me I could submit a bill for my labor if I changed it myself. In Addition they sent me a new seal kit and tools to rebuild the other cylinder so I would always have a back up.

It took me 20 minutes to change it and I had a local tractor place repack the seals for les than $100.

I was very impressed with their customer service, especially giving me options on how I wanted to handle it.

Guess those that have the cars have to have a garage to work it. The car is great, just an electrical nightmare right now. Slowly getting it straightened out. This fall I'm going to change the dash harness and the engine harness, that will get it fixed for good.

UPDATE: the lift is working great. No leaks or other problems. Store the car up quite often and park the golf cart underneath. The air jack is worth the cost, gives me many more options for repair and access. Casters work great, put them on with pins, lower the lift and up it goes. Move it myself around the shop.
I would recommend this lift.
