Got bored and this ideal just popped up in my head soooo...Here it is. :) This is a Williams 3/8 dr B-52 Ratchet that I machined and extended the handle on, the extension is made out of 316L Stainless steel & brass. The extension is made out of 4 different pieces.

Standard B-52 Ratchet.

B-52 with extended handle.

It is a nice ratchet and the handle length is great. I would like it a lot better if the handle was completely knurled or completely smooth. The brass accents are a nice touch.

I chucked the ratchet up in the lathe and turned down the original knurled part of the handle leaving a shoulder, the turned the brass ring, then the main handle was turned out of 316 SS. The main handle was bored to a .001 slip fit to go over the original ratchet handle with a shoulder inside the depth of the original handle length. The ratchet handle is drilled & tapped 1/4-20, then a grade 10.9 Socket head cap screw retains the main handle. Then the end of the SS handle is threaded 1/2-13 for the end cap, the second brass ring slips over the male thread of the end cap. Then all the final turning & knurling was done.
I will be taking the handle back off to do some finishing touches and I will get pic's of it all disassembled for your viewing pleasure. :)

For years I have thought about doing something like this, cut the handle off and weld on a chunk of round tube with some knurling for grips and a cap on the end. Use the handle to store sockets. Kind of a one in all ratchet.
