My latest project for the shop. I have had this big Prentiss vice sitting around for a few years but no good place to mount it. I don't care much for pedestal mounted vices because they tend to move around when you use them but I figured with a heavy enough base it would be OK. I got a big truck brake drum and a piece if 1/2" thick tubing and mounted the vice along with a pipe vice and home made anvil (made from railroad track). I painted everything grey and then added a miniature vice that I have had since I was a kid, I used to use it while building model cars. I also added a small anvil I picked up a a flea market years ago, I think it is a jeweler's anvil. This thing is very heavy and real stable. Looking forward to using the hell out of it.

Well, I hope you see flattery in imitation Kev.

I am collecting bits to create a similar stand for my yard.

Still one of my favourite creations on here.

You were just born 40 years too late, I lived through all the 50's and 60's hot rod period, and I'm glad I did, but I'm done with that now. Like I was a hippy in SF in the late 60's but I would not revert back to that again, been there done with it

Now this is a hot rod shop!
I spend alot more time on the H.A.M.B. than the Garage Journal but I thought I would get in on the action and post some pics of my garage here. I worked full time out of this garage doing fabrication for local hot rodders and drag racers for 12 years but that was about 8 years ago. I still do a little side work for others but now it is mostly for my own projects. I am a big fan of old style hot rods and drag cars. I also love old speed equipment and I am a bit of a pack rat. Although it looks big in pictures it is just a regular 2 car garage with an enclosed carport on one side. It is deeper than most because there is a granny flat added on the back and I have knocked the wall out, that is why there is a bathroom out there. My garage is always changing, some of these pics are from a few years ago.......

I would love to get in touch with Kiwi Kevin to discuss the possibility of creating a television series. I can be reached at [email protected]
Thank You
david

DO IT, Kev!

You're the kind of guy I'd LOVE to see become a rich reality TV star instead of most of the douchebags that get it. I'd watch the show for certain.

(Just DONT join Dancing With The Stars or date a Kardashian, your beautiful wife would kick your *** and take away your garage! Lol)

Man, I love it when you post something new. Just like everyone else, I LOVE seeing your garage.

Slackin' off, huh? No new projects for yourself OR for others?

I made a good start on my 34 pickup, that was several months ago and it is time to get busy again.

Not a whole lot to report. I got a funky little vise at a local flea market for $15 and gave it a paint job. At the next flea market I got 2 beat up craftsman tool chests for $10 each and gave them a paint job. I wish I had a before pic because they were really hammered. The lids were busted off so I cut a piece of plywood and it makes a nice shelf. This gave me some much needed tool storage. I also made a board to hang/organize my gas welding/cutting stuff.

I have pretty much finished up my part of the 56 Chevy build, at least until it is painted and ready for assembly. I have started doing some work on a Willys pickup for a friend, Tony, from Bakersfield. So far I have removed a very poorly installed MustangII front end, boxed the front of the frame, started on the center cross member, installed straight front axle, built some engine mounts, soon I will be building a firewall and floor.

Kev, thanks for the update. You don't seem to have to have a lot going on for it to be interesting. I probably speak for all of us when I say, "Please post something or anything regularly, as we all just love seeing your garage and toys, no matter whether your getting work done or not, lol!"
