Just an FYI...common courtesy dictates that you don't ask what someone makes a year, even in a round-a-bout way
Wait. Are you implying there's common courtesy on GJ?
Hahahahahhahah!

Yes I do and they have some booths I was looking at. Are you familiar with the quality of their products?
This picture reminds me that I need to get another roll of Sharkskin. I have a couple of things to paint in the garage, and I don't need overspray. I sort of wish I hadn't removed the wall in my garage now.
Mark, Congrats on going under contract on the new place!! It took me 5 months to finally pass papers on mine (just last week), but it's worth it! Expect the worst and hope for the best.
Have you considered a setup like the Duster prep stations?

That's good to hear
Hopefully you'll be kind enough to offer your Garage Journal friends another opportunity to visit the Monster Garage sometime again in the future.
I missed the last meet up & would seriously consider "popping across the Atlantic" should the opportunity........
Any plans to build an upper level in your new shop to add storage space for parts?
That is a really tall ceiling height!
Wait. Are you implying there's common courtesy on GJ?

Possibly a few of these http://www.bigassfans.com/ to help with cooling the shop ??
I am its decent stuff sort of the harbor freight place on some things.and i have sold one of thier paint booths before. but it was just a cross flow.
This may not be in your buget but is a real nice down draft booth that does not requre a pit
http://afc-ca.com/quadraft/
they have other booths as well not the big name like Garmat or some of the others but they have nice stuff in many differant price ranges
The guy I worked for used his first mname for his business and it worked ok for him (even thou he said he wouldn't do it again} If you ever plan to sell said business its best you don't use any part of your name
Will the new building have it's own thread or will you continue with this thread? The new place looks sweet with tons of potential. It might be a while before you out grow that one.

Yes I do plan on another gathering. I have not started planning it yet but at this point it would be a fall gathering. We had it in the spring last year but right now I just can't imagine planning something while we are close to the possibility of moving the shop.

Mark, I know you have a lot on your plate right now (as if there is ever a time you don't), but just in case you felt a shift in the universe very early this morning, I thought you may want to know what caused it.....
Did you ever finish the blazer???
I almost feel exploited!!
What was the new building used for before you got it? Looks pretty new.
Hello Mark
Just wanted to mention a company that makes superb quality tools "Festool" and thought it might be worth you looking into their automotive range:
Best of luck with your new venture, you have become a legend on here to many people around the world and deserve all the success that comes your way![]()
Congrats on the new garage!...but keep this one going as your place will always be Mark's Monster Garage and one of the favorite threads on GJ!
Interesting bit of trivia on the Gallardo. Lamborghini built 14,000 of them! Almost like they are dime a dozen if that is possible for a Supercar.
Hi Mark
If you are thinking about curtaining off the body area look into Goff curtain walls out of Wisconsin Bob Goff Is a personal friend so mention my name when you call
I have worked as a bodyshop design consultant for P.P.G for the last several years so I might lend some ideas if you would like (as a friend) Send me a pm
Congratulations on your success
Don
wow!!!!!!!!!!!! that is going to be one hell of a shop. can wait for this one to start.
congratulations on the new shop mark. I will have to send you a shiner, TX sign to hang.
It looks really nice. Bob put some sheet metal on top of the console and we have to lay it out with all of the gauges tomorrow.
I need to ask you guys a question. I will be moving one of my two post lifts to the new shop and it will most likely be used in the body shop area. I will need to buy a new 2 post them for the mechanic area. I have been very happy with my Gregg Smith Equipment lifts and for what I have been using them for I am sure they are fine. I was looking at the Benpak lifts and they are really nice. The angled posts allow a lot more access to open the doors when the car is on the lift. I can get the Bendpak XPR-10-168 Extra-Tall and Dual Wide 2-Post Lift for $3100 with no shipping costs. The Gregg Smith Atlas lift is $2300 but I am sure there is a few hundred in shipping cost. So we are looking at $600 difference. Which lift would you buy if you were looking for the better lift??
You guys have talent beyond amazing!! I NEVER go past any of your posts.
One thing to consider, and I am sure you have thought of it, would be warranty. Another is durability. If warranty is the same for both, and you have not had any issues with the GSE lift, why not save the $600 to use somewhere else.
Since I think one of the biggest disadvantage of a 2 post lift is just the lousy access to the door I would go with the Benpak.
Hi Mark
I see a Greg Smith ad at the bottom of the page. I am sure he would like to Sponser you and provide a free lift for all of the publicity you will be giving it.
Tell him you will wave commission on the first 10 units referred by your posts then negotiate a commission on those after.
Terry
Will you adopt me? PLEASE???
We are just luckyThank you!!
Greg Smith and BenPak have the same warranty....1 year hydraulics, 2 years structure. BenPak has free shipping and you pay for shipping for Greg Smith so the gap narrows!!
Exactly.....I agree 100 percent!
Terry, I talked to Greg Smith's son who runs the Georgia warehouse when I got my new 4 post lift from them. I told them I would document the build of the lift on my GJ thread which I did. He gave me about $250 off the lift and said he was selling it to me at what their dealers pay. I didn't ask for a free lift and I am sure they would not have offered one. I was satisfied just to get a little discount.
I could but I am warning you I work everyone's **** off who comes around here so be careful what you wish for......son![]()

Mark, I would check out some of the lifts that Greg Smith carries that have a 2 year hydraulic and 5 year structural warranty for not much more money.
If you don't mind spending a few more bucks, I would seriously seriously consider the Challenger CL10V3. It can be set up either wide or narrow and has 3-stage front and rear arms, so you can load it symmetrically or asymmetrically.
The Challenger looks like one heck of a lift and if I was buying only one lift this would be the one.At $4800 I could not justify it.

The BendPak XPR-10A is $2800 and the extended height model is $3100 so it is more in the range I would want to stay in.![]()
I'm sure Mark is gonna have a killer post soon because he's been posting progress on the Facebook page. I'm also sure he's got a lot on his plate, so I'm just gonna keep patiently waiting, as I suspect the rest of you are too.![]()
I am excited and scared at the same time:eye crazy: The building is going to be so cool but I keep thinking of stuff I want to do to it. Just like the garage I want to do special things to it but I have to pace myself. We will either be closing the 25th of this month or March 5th. It just depends on if the survey gets done on time. My wife and I are taking my niece and her husband to Vegas next weekend and she tells me I can't think about the warehouse and what I am going to do to it while we are gone........RIGHT!!!
You will have plenty of time to think about and plan for the shop when you get back. Go enjoy yourself and your family. If that doesn't work, go see Danny for a little inspiration.! We will either be closing the 25th of this month or March 5th.
WOW That's a fast close! Did they already have environmental done?
Not bad for an ameture!!!
