Hiding TV Cabling, HDMI etc

Morning all, I know I 'could' drill a hole in the wall behind the TV and another behind the cabinet. The wall (an outside wall) is paneling that has been painted ..... I have 8 to 10 inches between the two components. I was thinking of getting a piece of paneling - maybe 6" wide by 13" tall .. paint it and put a couple of spacers behind it and conceal the wires between the wall and this piece...

I was wondering what alternatives have you done to conceal/hide cabling between the TV and cable box, dvd player and speakers. Thoughts?

Personally i think exposed wires and channels on the wall look bad. If you can run then through the wall.

there are several styles of wire mold that you may want to try. Some spiral cable wrap, tie wraps, stick on ty points, and the like can all be used.

I used the "gutter" trick, where I made a trough or gutter to "hide" the wires that normally lay on the floor behind the TV/Audio table. It is better, but still not up to wife's expectation.

Like her, I think that with all this wireless, you would think that there would be some way to design a box that has ONE cable to the others and then to the TV...

You could make a fake wall behind the TV that goes from floor to ceiling. Cover it cloth, paint or use a nice looking veneer.

Like her, I think that with all this wireless, you would think that there would be some way to design a box that has ONE cable to the others and then to the TV...

Its called a Receiver. You plug everything into it and run one cable from it to the TV. Been this way in my house at least 5 years now. I use a Onkyo 717. Only 2 cables come off my TV. One for power and 1 HDMI.

Every wall mount I have ever done and I have done a lot of them for friends family nod neighbors. I always put hole behind tv and run all wires to media closet or to jack down behind cable box etc to keep it all hidden. Zero wires are seen in my installs

I would do this BUT ...... the wall is an outside wall with a plastic vapor barrier and fiberglass. I really didn't want to punch a hole in this ......

The big box stores have a multitude of 'cable management' options for ease of use.

I have something similar to that for my tv. I painted it the same color as the wall and it doesn't look too bad. It still not a clean looking as running the cables through the wall but it's better than seeing the wires.

If you're careful enough you might be able to sneak a couple of wires between the vapor barrier and drywall.

The fake wall is a nice solution and could dress up your house, depending how you do it.

A few years back I rented an apartment as I was transitioning places. Anyhow, I mounted my TV to the wall but didn't want to punch (large) holes in the sheetrock so I had some white duct tape. I compared to the wall paint and it was a near match. I bundled all my wires together and taped up the exposed parts and about 6" beyond what was exposed. If you were looking, you could see what I did but I frequently had people over and no one noticed it until I mentioned it to them. Cheap and easy.

I think the better solution are these. Just got some recently to mount a TV in the bedroom. You still cut a hole and snake the wires so they are totally concealed, but it gives the holes a finished look.
