Can you post a picture of the vise in the background? The base looks unique.

Like Outlawmws said, it's a suction cup vise. COO is Taiwan. Really cool concept. I wanted to use this one on the surface plate. Unfortunately the rubber suction cup has cracks and it looses suction.
I'm going to figure out a way to make a new shoe for the vise.

Hafee: Man, get those vises off the surface block!

Hafen (Got it right that time..);

Thick sheet of finished rubber, a flat head screw, and a threaded lug inside for the lever to operate it? it should work. You can trim the rubber to final size after you get it working.

An American Scale #16 vise with a static jaw that swivels when the pin is pulled to hold odd shaped objects. It weighs about 80 lbs and is around 4" wide X 10" opening.

I picked this one up off of craigslist for $80. Was advertized as a bench with an old vise for $120. It had a crappy picture that showed it might be a Wilton. Called him up to find out about the vise and he wanted the whole table gone. He said it was a 4 inch bullet style so I knew it had to be a 400S. Half an hour latter it was sitting in the back of my car.

It’s rust free with no cracks or missing parts. The smooth jaws are custom made. The guy was selling off his retired dad’s machine shop.:D

One of the handles was bent, but the breaker bar fixed that.

One pin needs push in a little.

Stripped and ready for cleaning.

Going to paint it Rust-Oleum Hammered Metal Finish Spray, Verde Green, so it matches my 300s.:rocker:

drivesitfar----Here is three more that you really can't see good.

First one, in the center is a C. P. #436. It has nice regular jaws and pipe, but I guess rule #2 applies until I can prove otherwise.

The next 2 I got from Autopts.. Can't see them here but I'll give the pages that Nick posted them on and you can see them in 3D.

First is the blue one. Starrett 326----215 lbs. of combo. This is my second 326. the other is really buried under junk. Again rule #2.-----But this one I got from Nick you can see on page 354----post 7069 +7070.

The silver one is an American Scale #25-----180 lbs. combo.
You can see it in full on page 426----post 8512. I like the big combos.

I want to give a thank you shout out to Jason aka EOC_Jason for parting with one of his new vise finds. He was kind enough to sell me one of the Reed 4C's with the massive stands. He also gave me a tour of his other vises (nice collection by the way) as well as meet his father - both as nice as could be!

He also steered me to GJ member KMScott and I ordered a set of jaws from his website. Thanks again Jason the vise will be right at home in my shop!

Working on a commission. This is how I get by without a hydraulic press for bending steel.

What's the function of the v-block? Does it allow you do do something that just clamping it between the jaws doesn't?

I believe he's got placed so that the piece he's bending isn't touching the top of the vise went bent 90. Probably could use a piece of larger square stock if available.

Nice collection Great White and I "love" your benches, stands and how clean your shop is. I think you have a nice selection of vises and you are a better man than I if you can put on the brakes and never buy another one.

VA: thanks again for sharing. I'm guessing you buy those cute little swivel head and other small vises just to feed your big ones that you have chained up? I wish I lived closer and I'd come over and help you build a shed or carport to keep those big *** vises out of the rain and snow. are you done with the 8 inchers or which ones are you missing? have you got anything bigger like a 9 or 10 on the property or on your radar?

Thanks drivesitfar, I am sure I will find another one at some point. But here in my area of Fl. they just don't pop up much, I have less than $175.00 in the ones I have. I just p/u a lincoln AC-DC 225/125 welder Sat. for $175.00 and it is very clean, it is 8years old but very clean and a great deal.

Thanks Drivesit. Appreciate the offer. But these fellows don't see no weather. I wouldn't dare let a good vise be exposed to raw weather. My storage is a little unconventional but effective. I know it don't look like much. Their pretty safe. I like my vises and I wouldn't want to see any harm come to them, weather wise or otherwise.
Some of the fellows say set them free. We've got a town ordnance, all dogs and vises kept on a leash. Getridaone says he's might come by with a couple of chain cutters. He's going to need a red wrench to. Hate to see him drive all the way back home just to get it. I'd lend him mine but somehow that just don't feel right.

As far as the 8 inchers go, still looking for a-------#978 Parker------#81 Simplex, mine is a 71------8 inch American Scale-------8 inch Sawyer if they even made one-----#408 Reed, sorry Demo. By the way Demo has my 81 Simplex. Only been 2 of those posted throughout the whole journal.------8 inch Prentiss, if it's a swivel, has to be a swivel, and again I don't even know if they made them that way.-------8 inch Starrett-----8 inch Barrett if they are out there-----and a monster Craftsman. So you see, I've got a long way to go.
In the mean time I'll be looking for that Reed 209. Sorry again Demo/Filson/EOC/B100/drivesit/Autopts/getridaone/and on and on and on. But it's like one piece of bread for a starving mob. It's dog eat dog when it comes to the big ones and getting harder all the time. But every once in a while someone rolls a 7. So the hunt continues.

I needed an anvil ...

My Paramo vise does not have a 'hammer flat'
and it's not done to hammer. on a cast iron vise
So I spend an afternoon being grinding and sanding on a leftover piece UIC54

Oh, and also on the last photo: my second Paramo No2, for outdoor use ...

Does someone recognize this type ACESA bench vice.
I can't find any information about ACESA vises.

This bench vice is owned by my father, a decent middle class.

Picked up this really clean Prentiss Bulldog 50 3" off of Ebay for $55. They didn't have Prentiss in the description so it was buried in all of the thousands of vise listings. My super clean 820 still looks pretty small next to it. Payed a bit more for it...

A little plug for Kevin Scott :)

New jaws & my home made pipe jaws. The Wilton and the American Scale before and after. The American Scale had a roll over accident and I was more concerned with saving my toe than saving the paint. :( I had to do some touch up so I will get it outside for a few more pictures later. One more while I'm posting pictures, the 6" FPU Bison, date stamped 1/68

I'm kind of puzzled by this vise: I can't quite decide whether it's a repaired basket case or an extremely unusual special-purpose Parker. It's on fleaBay 261401883717, or just search Parker Vise. I stumbled across it while trolling for a Parker 94 (hint, hint)
It kind of looks like a swivel jaw, but instead of the locking pin it has some sort of improvised hardy chisel sitting (or jammed in) there. Anyone with some insight?

Horrible, horrible, horrible basket case!!!

The dynamic jaw insert has been replaced with a piece of bolted in steel?
Looks like the swivel jaw on the static side also got some bolts / straps to keep it from swiveling.
The handle is sticking out from the collar?
The back of the slide has a big chunk missing.
There is a chisel in the swivel hole?

Maybe it belongs in a Mad Max movie....

I am glad I slotted the 5/16 screw holes, looks like I still need to adjust the center-lines. Nice restore job Kenny. I like your pipe jaws to. Look forward to a side view pic when you get the paint like you want.
