Here's my "man cave".

It's not finished yet. Electric is 85% done. Still waiting for a heating/cooling guy to get back to me so that's up in the air (no pun intended). I'll probably epoxy the floor with U-Coat-It in the Spring. Installing 4 pair of 8" speakers in the ceiling (4 and 4). I will have it rocked and insulated after the electric is done. So I'm almost there.

Here are some pictures of the build. It's a custom pole barn. 30x36x10 downstairs (no support posts - clear span) and 15x36x8 upstairs also clear span. Anderson windows, Clopay coachman doors and Cedar Impressions siding. Wish I could have gone 2 foot higher for a car lift but that wasn't gonna happen easily with my town.

my downstairs ceiling height is 10 feet. while i could get a lift in the garage, i wouldn't be able to extend it fully with a 55 on it. maybe a MG midget but not a 55 Belair.

first things first. i need to coat my floor with something in the spring and i need heat and air. the lift would be 4th or 5th on the list right now.

upstairs is for my photography studio and equipment. the sliding doors where made on site. the clopay's in front are 10x8 and the sliders are dual functioning 4.75x9's.

Is there a glowing steering wheel in that BelAir, or is that a trick of the light, and it's just body color? In other words, it looks like aliens are landing inside your car- what's up with that?

not a photography "trick" but the glow is from the way i had to shoot the pix. these pix were taken at a shutter speed of about 10 seconds (not hundreds of a second ... seconds). that means the camera is on a tripod and the lens is open for 10 seconds capturing all available light. for example, i have a dozen other photos from this shoot. if a car drove by on the street behind the 55, you see the solid red and white lines from the passing car as seen here:

while there is a glow with the 5 autometer C2 gauges and tach, it's not that alien like. however, if i drive longer then 30 minutes at night, i do switch them off. here is another example:

there are other "tricks" i used and figured out as i was messing around. i'm a volunteer firefighter so i did the pix at my fire house and wet the black top down before the shot. also, i ran flashlights down the sides of the car to help brighten the shot up. the final version you see in the car show sign has been edited and i blackened out everything but the car, sky and reflection.

Of all the cars GM ever made, the 55 has to be my favorite. Here's a pic of mine just before I sold it.

My last real hotrod was my Blown BBC 34 Shivalay 3 window.

the 55 started it all. V8's, Tri-Five's. Just a classic car. so you don't have a current project? could it be one of those on your "parking lift" behind the 3 window?

I'm currently working on my 66 Buick Special convertible and 93 Toyota 4by with a 350, I'll be repainting both and doing the upholstery in the Buick. Of course this is after customer projects and I try to do the car work part time in the evenings. I still have a regular full time job. my plan is to get the previous mentioned two done this year so this fall I can get on my Triumph GT6 project, tube frame, Blown SBC, 5 speed or Turbo 350 since I already have a fresh one and narrowed rearend.

okay, okay. i was holding off posting some of the interior pix because it wasn't finished but here are some pix from today. the electric is almost done. need to finalize my heating and cooling, insulation and then sheetrock and epoxy the floor in the spring. notice my current electric ..... the couch and tables have a date with a dumpster in a few weeks.

Neat pics- I thought there was a long exposure on there somewhere, but I couldn't figure out the blue glow. Once you said there were aftermarket gauges on the inside, I understood more how the exposure worked.
