Looks like a "Humped" fake. The "Craftsman" is stamped crudely while the other markings are raised.

I am not an expert on all things Craftsman but that is one piece I would be leery about.

Don't know about this particular one, but the double-headed adjustable are real. I don't care how ridiculous they are, they still bring good money. I found a Crescent at the swap meet last summer. Took less than 12 hours to sell for $74.99. Other sizes sell for more.

I have no doubt this is a "real" double ended adjustable, but there is very little confidence in saying this is a real craftsman tool. I vote for the letters punched on. Way too off centered and overlapping the COO.

But why would you pick craftsman to fake? Waste of time. Should of punched snap-on on it. I think its real. Craftsmans qc wasnt always the greatest.

Because people have an obsession with old craftsman. They go for ridiculous amounts and had so many different manufacturers you would really have to know to know they aren't real. Snap-on seems to have a lot less variance over the years.

Good catch, I missed that. Even more reason to run from it.

While this does look suspicious (first craftsman one I have seen) the dual marking 6" and 8" would be correct. It is basically a 6" and 8" adjustable conjoined together. The head sizes are different.

After a quick search it looks like craftsman did indeed make double ended adjustable wrenches. Not sure on a time frame though, thinking 30's :dunno:

I thought they sold them, but they were Easco or something like that.

Uhm, what? Easco and Craftsman are completely separate companies. They did share the same maker for a while if that is what you are talking about. :dunno:

Dad retired from AT&T, he once told me a story about a technician who constantly was using two tools. So he cut them and attached them together. Now he had a double ended tool. All the techs thought it was a great idea. They send the tool up the chain of command. A bill for the two tools came back down. Techs no longer submitted ideas up the chain. A couple years later the company adopted a similar tool when someone in management had a bright idea. Techs learned to keep their mouths shut and thus innovation at AT&T was doomed.

Not sure why anyone would want two adj wrenches though

Wider range of places where the wrench will fit and the sizes of things it will fit on.

The 6" end fits in smaller places than the 8" end does, and the 8" head gives a little more capacity than the 6" end does.

Putting the two ends on one tool makes it more convenient in certain applications, especially if you don't want to carry a lot of tools up a ladder or into a confined space.

On the other hand, if you need two wrenches--one for the nut and one for the bolt, or whatever--having both of them on one tool isn't going to be much help.

Crescent and Diamond made double-ended or combination adjustables for years, as others have mentioned. They made 6"-8" combos and 8"-10" combos. The latter are more common.
