I am in the process of installing my new compressor and I want to run a line to my bathroom. I think it would be great to be able to use the air to blow things off and dry things without going into my shop. Has anyone done this and how did you sell it to your wife.

OP, if you do this you really need to put an impact gun in there before guests arrive...When they come, excuse your self and go into the bathroom, and let the impact gun rip for a few times...Would be kinda funny to hear what they say..... If I were you I'd say, "Wow, that thing just didn't want to come out."

You might want to be careful doing that. Might be finding a lot of your air tools in the vanity drawer instead of your tool box. If air hammer shows up missing Im sure you'll know where to find it. LOL

Just as long as you don't grab the air hammer instead of the hairdryer...:shocking:

LOL, I've always wanted air in the kitchen. A right angle die grinder with a roloc would be the ultimate pot scrubber. But there's no way I'm putting in another compressor for this, and it isn't a small task to run an air line from my detached garage into my house.

I am trying to imagine what situation might call for a compressed air blower in the bathroom. I am not sure I want to know this, but just what would you "blow off and dry" with compressed air in your bathroom?

Do you wash car parts in the bathroom sink or something?

It took me forever to read these posts because of my intense belly laughing!
Who would have thought I could get such a laugh our of Garage Journal?

We have cats and an air bath is a great way to remove the hair from the wifes clothes. I can also see using it to dust off lots of household stuff.

That is one idea I didn't have to sell my wife on. When we were designing a kitchen for a house we never were able to build, she told me she wanted a compressed air line in the kitchen to dry stuff off. She learned that in Chemical Engineering school, it's what they did in the lab to dry stuff off quickly. :rocker:

PHEW!! I thought I was going to be the only one with a serious answer. I am beginning my garage remodel, complete with revamped air, and I am quite interested in running a line in the crawl space under the floor from the garage to my office (at the opposite end of the house). I've sat at my desk far too many times tinkering with something or cleaning guns and needed a blast or two of air. Someone makes a cool little wall outlet that you can plug into (the air line runs up inside the wall, like running wire to a new electrical outlet). I'd just start the line at a ball valve so it's not under pressure until you want it.

My basement is black piped and I thought about an outlet in the kitchen closet. But the basement door is right next to it so I can run hose pretty easily.
I have a few portable tanks so it is easier to fill those and use them for spot dusting.
If I need a lot of air, I bring it outside. That dirt has to go somewhere.

I have thought it would be great to have some air in the house garage but not in the house itself. If done right and put in the right location, sure why not.

Sorry guys, but from a female point of view I'm sitting here LMAO right now. All I can think of is the opening intro when he brings her out there for the first time.

"It's great for you too baby! Here, let me introduce you to this tool called a needle scaler ............"

and then he doesn't see his wife again for a week.

:D

My wife has asked more than once if I wanted to bring the leaf blower or an air line in the house. That is her way of needling me into doing some cleaning. She has a disability and can't clean.

I know, convenient, huh?

Frankly for incidental use I'd just get a bottle of compressed nitrogen.

This.
The dust, cat hair, etc gets airborne and then what? It settles someplace nearby:dunno:.

Forgot about the needle scaler.... LOL. I thought air hammer would work out just fine.

Have a good one, Gerard

Would be especially useful when allergies or a cold cause your nasal passages to fill with crusted secretions:

"Excuse me for a minute."

PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.....WHUNK.....HRRRAAAAA---HRAAAAA---PTOY.

"There, much better. Now what were we doing?"

We have cats and an air bath is a great way to remove the hair from the wifes clothes. I can also see using it to dust off lots of household stuff.

Speaking of Cats & Bathrooms-
HOW TO BATHE THE CAT

1. Thoroughly clean toilet.
2. Lift both lids and add shampoo.
3. Find and soothe cat as you carry him to bathroom.
4. In one swift move, place cat in toilet, close both lids and stand on top, so the cat cannot escape.
5. The cat will self agitate and produce ample suds. (Ignore ruckus from inside toilet, cat is enjoying this).
6. Flush toilet 3 or 4 times. This provides power rinse, which is quite effective.
7. Have someone open outside door, stand as far from toilet as possible and quickly lift both lids.
8. Clean cat will rocket out of the toilet and outdoors, where he will air dry.

Sincerely,
The Dog

Oh sure, you just want to dry things off.

One thing to keep in mind is that you will want it to be filtered very well otherwise you might end up spraying a oil water mixture over the bathroom. Friend of mine installed a small pressure washer and a clean compressor under the kitchen sink. They love it for washing dishes.
