Ko-ken Hose Puller/Pick

I recently purchased these Ko-ken pieces from Japan. I've struggled with radiator hose and other misc. hose removals in the past and so I thought I would see if these guys would ease the job and save me time.

These were bought for about $13US:

The handle, as you can imagine, provides a comfortable grip.

"Made in Japan" -- with pride.

The tips are not fine-point.

in the 3rd pict, in your hand, they look kind of small for radiator hose picks. You must have huge hands.

I bought them online and had a family member bring them back for me.
Unfortunately they don't seem to be available here.

I've never actually held a North American brand rad hose pick to compare with, so I can't say with any certainty on whether these are smaller than the average. However, the Japanese do have smaller hands than the average North American so that may be a possible explanation (if indeed these are smaller).

Used mine several times on rad and heater hoses. Works like a charm! Little bit cheaper too!

That's some motto Koken has "High performance tools of Convincing Quality".
Hose picks are definately a handy tool to have for rmoving baked on hoses, trim items, or just for general poking.

Koken also do a pair of trim clip tools with same handles, with the cut outs for clips being 6mm Japanese cars and 10mm American & European.

If you want a cheap pair of Asian-made radiator hose pullers, purchase these: http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/ta13820.html. I own a set and work great. If you would like to spend a little bit more money for a quality, Swiss-made pair, I suggest these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D2TWX0/?tag=atomicindus08-20. These PB Swiss hose pluckers are way shorter than the ones made by Tool Aid.

I remember when I first saw this thread, the handles reminded me of some Stanley hooks/picks that I got at Walmart. I actually used to have the Popular Mechanics hooks - 2 of them broke and they gave me Stanley hooks in exchange. It's hard to tell from the attachment, but the contours and textured parts are identical.

Snapon makes a radiator pick, and so does Harbor Freight, all basically look the same. The HF was $3 on sale a few weeks ago, normally about $6.

those KoKen tools look almost the same as my Snap-Ons.... just change the handles.... both picks and panel pry tools... they look nice for the price

Looks like a handy tool to have but I see that there are all sorts of "specialty" tools these days. What's wrong with slitting the stuck hose length wise and peeling it off. I'm all for more tools but my toolbox is getting too full and the wallet a little too empty so I'm trying to buy tools that you can't really do without

First thing I thought as well. I got a set of these for valentines day which went in the car tool box.

Thats what I do anymore, generally if the hose is coming off its going to be replaced. I did however manage to slip and gouge a nice hole in my finger that was a pain to bandage up well enough for it to not bleed through while I finished what I was doing so this might be useful to keep your fingers safe.

I've had the chance to use these guys, pulling/pushing off stubborn rubber exhaust hangers in a relatively confined space. They came off a lot easier with the aid of these tools so I'm well satisfied.
