Another Craftsman 150 found! Have a question...

I just purchased this Craftsman 150 from a guy just a few miles from my house today. I plan to restore it to its former glory, but I'm missing the feed stop nut. It appears to be a 5/8" thread, but I tried a 5/8-11 UNC nut and a 5/8-18 UNF nut, and neither of them will thread on. I counted the threads, and it appears to have 12 threads per inch, so is it a 5/8-12 ACME thread, or some other type of thread?

I think they are Acme and I seem to remember two that were knurled on the outside. Anyway, just admiring your acquisition as I always regretted selling my when I moved.

This is correct, and (at least mine) I have a thin fiber washer between the two to allow them to lock together better.

Thanks, and yes, it is a Craftsman vise. The red label on it is partially worn off, but I can tell it says Craftsman.

What is the best way to de-rust the parts to make them look like new, without scratching up the bare metal surfaces? Scotchbrite pads, or ?

So, if it has 5/8-12 Acme threads, does anyone know a source that sells 5/8-12 Acme threaded hex nuts or knurled nuts? I've done some internet searching without much success.

Should you decide to part with the vise, let me know! The way we have been shining them up mostly is chucking them in a lathe or even home made rigs of jack stands with shop rag pads and a oil filter wrench/drill drive system to turn them. Start off with a 180 grit and work up to a 1000 or so for shine. Check my restorations for a bench model I did and here are a few others I saw real quick, no offense to the ones I left out.

Hammerscale.com does repros. I bought a feed stop nuts set for my Delta there. Might find them for your Cman. Not cheap but gets the part back in place.
Thanks for the link. I looked, but they don't have a feed stop that would work for the Cman 150.

My Craftsman 150 is sporting a feed stop nut again. :rocker: nine4gmc (Shayne) and I did a trade, my mid '60's Craftsman drill press vise in return for a feed stop nut and jam nut that Shayne would make. The pieces work great, and Shayne is a good guy in my book!
