I was killing time in Sears and was looking in the wrench aisle. I looked down at a RP assortment and thought just by the heads of the wrenches that they still had old USA stock. I was shocked to see that it was indeed Made in China, however they look almost like the old USA versions. They looked like they just were added to the floor. They had some of the older China Lobster Claw wrench sets right next to them. There was also a new polished set the same way. The set actually looked real nice. If I was starting all over again getting wrenches and couldn't afford USA, I would have definately bought that set over Kobalt and other big store brands...

As for the wrenches, it looks like they made the open head metal thicker so still sort of lobster claw.

I wouldn't. IMO, Taiwan made Kobolt is a better product than Chinese made Craftsman.

EDIT: On another note, I was watching shark tank friday night and one of the people said she could actually make her product in the US for the exact same quoted price as china, with exceptional quality (much better than the chinese ones) and she didn't have to ship it overseas.

China has spent the last 20+ years copying American designs, technology, and manufacturing techniques so I suspect at this point they are able to make pretty much anything US companies pay them to make, it's all just a matter of price. Perhaps Sears finally ponied up the extra dough for some better steel in the RP wrenches so the lobster claw is no longer necessary.
I bought two Buck folding knives last month, a 110 (made in USA) and a Canoe (made in China). Both knives are nice but the fit and finish on the Chinese-made knife is significantly better. In defense of the American plant the 110 had a better edge on the blade out of the box but once I'd removed the wire edge from the Chinese blade it was equally sharp.
