Today I decided where to mount an Altimeter to my Ultralight. I then made a box from thin aircraft ply..it mounts to the airframe..then the meter in it.
I'll get the mounting holes drilled, then do some final filling and sanding before final paint and a bit of pinstripe.
6 degree F for a high today..but summer is on the way.

Very nice e-tek! I couldn't help but notice the organization on the walls and shelving. That is something I need to do.

After clearing and re-setting mouse traps, I looked around the shop taking mental pictures of the current layout.
Major purge of the accumulation is in order and figuring out what to get rid of and what to keep.

Last summer "The Library of Mechanical Solutions", otherwise know as the outdoor scrap pile got purged.

Well, first I had to shovel a path out to the shop...a total of 6 times throughout the day.

Then I got inside the sailboat and sanded some of the woodwork in preparation for applying teak oil. The builder paid a lot of attention to the exterior, but not much to the interior. Teak oil on smooth wood is nice stuff. t

Finally got around to hanging my air, power, light and water reels.

What's the flow like out the water reel? I always figured you'd lose a ton of GPH going to small hose vs 3/4 heavy contractor grade stuff my dad has drilled into my head that I need so badly.

Put 7 quarts of oil in the car after an oil change, did not do the filter. I change the filter every other pan drain.

I can do that cause I change the oil when it goes from brown to black, then took it for a victory ride nice day for a ride sweet and 70.

Spent 4 hours installing a steering column that usually only takes about 15 minutes.

made some brake ducts for my Firebird, w/ a TA front bumper.
I didn't want to cut extra holes for using some of the typical dirt track ducts, they wouldn't fit well on the bumper curvatures anyway.
I trimmed the fog light holes some (coulda done a better job there)
made a cardboard template
made a wood buck from the template
ripped some 1.5" x19" ~0.060 aluminum strips
wrapped those around the buck & welded the **** joint.
used that as a pattern for a plate and cut that out, welding it to the wrapped strip.
then cut some 4" tube, cut holes, and welded the tube to complete the duct.
last pic, as mounted. needs paint and some SS wire mesh to keep the debris out.

last pic is shown w/ the 4" dryer duct added to direct the air (also see top left of the pic on the rad). i've since ordered proper 4" race ducting which I will run for about 2' then neck down to 3" and run to the brake rotors.

Put a dual CP3 kit on a buddies Cummins. The truck has 345k miles on it with a unknown amount on the orginal cp3 and after I put 150hp injectors the rail pressure wouldn't keep up on the high rpm tune. After the install of the Duramax CP3 and the stocker, rail pressure is higher than its ever been. It runs a little to good. It will for sure be needing a head gasket before to long.

I just formally introduced myself. However, I'll add it here as well. I'm brand new into DIY, but threw myself in it about 8 months ago. Bought a ton of tools, said "this looks cool, I'm all over it" This was my first project. Done with a jigsaw, a marker, tape measure and some recycled galvanized screws. Yes I'm THAT guy. Anyway, I've changed a few things since, and will add that picture tomorrow? maybe, but enjoy...glad I took up such a cool hobby.

Not sure.Whats the difference between seized and frozen?
I took off the little plastic housing that covers the belts. The pulley engages when you pull the handle, but something lower makes an aweful noise but nothing turns.

Is it frozen up with ice?

No problem. That's what I had to do the other day. I had to get the mapp torch out and melt it out.

Sorry for the high jack boys.

Removing steering rack for replacement since the castings snapped.

Everybolts been a fight with the butane.

Oh and i stripped down the aux belt , pulleys and tensioner on the van looking for noise. One dry pulley , cleaned em all and greased em before reassembly and silence !

Nice. reminds me of when Olds put the ram air above and below the blinkers on the 67 W30.

Installed my new Armorskids on the Snapper snow blower. After all the mods/upgrades in the last week or so, I hope I've guaranteed no more snow this year.:lol_hitti

I picked up a piece of 1" x 3" flat bar steel at the local steel place last week, and today I cut it in half to make a couple of press plates for my hydraulic press.

When I set them on edge, they rocked badly, so I decided to face them off in the mill to make them true/flat on the edges.

Now they sit very steadily on the press, eliminating the wobble.

Gathered stuff up for the family/community yard sale. Between my dad and myself we have over 21 vises for sale and most are American. Sometime you end up with too much stuff to enjoy.

I made four square flower bed surrounds so the wife can plant the rest of the climbing roses along the fence in the orchard. Very simple 6 x 1 pressure treated timber 18" each side with a foot of PT 2 x 2 in each corner to give it stability. They need a coat or two of creosote to make them last a bit longer before they go in the ground. Once they're planted up I'll wrap some wire netting around them as we have a rabbit problem and despite the books saying rabbits don't eat roses they did a pretty good job last year with some we planted.

I've also got the timber to edge a bed along the end wall of the garage which has two old climbing roses and a clematis we transplanted last year growing up it. This is so her indoors can plant between them and so i don't have to try and mow/trim between them and also to stop me chopping the clematis down accidentally with the line trimmer like I managed last year!

I also dropped in on one of my neighbours as they've finally started to put up the frame of his garage. The slab and stub brick wall went down last year and he's been waiting for the frame to arrive ever since. Its a big L shaped garage with an upstairs room in the roof. The frame is handmade proper traditionally jointed and pegged oak. I've offered to go and help him slate the roof in return for his brother teaching me how to do it as I need to redo my garage roof so it seemed like a good opportunity to learn on someone elses! They reckon two weeks to assemble the frame and roof timbers. It arrived flat packed on the back of a truck and each piece has hand carved marks at each end that shows where it goes. There not one steel nail holding it together. The outside will be traditional feather edge boards.

The water reel is 1/2" hose. It's not bad. All I was using it for was to rinse the cars off and wash my floor. My outside water spigots with 5/8" garden hose is stronger. I like it for the storage and ease of use.

Can you share what manufacturer and model reels those are and how you like them so far?

Thanks

They are Realcraft brand. We have a few of these at my work and have had very good luck with them. They are a little bit more money but hopefully they will last me a long time with the usage I will give them.

Hope this helps.

Pissed away most of the day babysitting for the wife's two Shelties and Sam the Hell Dog. They have ran, played, played some more, stopped for a rawhide to chew on, argued over that, then ran and played some more. :willy_nil Momma just came home a few minutes ago and took them up to her craft building. It just wore me out keeping an eye on them and making sure they don't get into things.

Are those old Cragar Super Trick race wheels on the back? Looks like they were drilled for screws.

We used to run those on the street in the 80's on a 1970 Challenger that was an old SS/A car we got a tag for. Always worried about snapping the center out of the fronts in a turn. Those things weighed basically nothing.
