I've been buying Campbell Hausfeld 3/8" I.D. fittings from Tractor Supply and I keep running into problems getting them to push together and stay together. Am I just lucky or are they junk?

Take them back and see what they say. If they give you new ones and they do the same thing, then you'll know for sure.
I have the same problem.
I thought there were industry standards on these couplings (ex: "M", "A", "L").
Apparently manufacturers don't adhere to these standards and "M" style from brand A doesn't work with "M" style from brand B.
I think you have to buy premium quality couplings all from the same manufacturer. (ex: Milton)

Are you sure they're the same style?
If I were starting over I'd buy only quality couplings from only one manufacturer (Milton). It's frustrating when they don't quite fit right or leak.

I have to agree to buy Milton, the difference in price for the whole shop wouldn't be that much. Several years ago, I picked up some of the male end fittings at HF and they leaked really bad. Looking at the piece and comparing it to a Milton, the profile difference stood out.
I have this problem all the time. Drives me nuts when the fittings leak. Bought some from HF once just to try and you guessed it, every single one of them leaked right out the box! The last incident with this issue one of my air hoses started that annoying leak at the coupling while the tool was just sitting on the bench. Went to Home Depot and ****, their fittings are stamped China too. Bought some anyway, the universal type that claim to fit all styles. Put them on and no leaks at all, that was about 5 months ago and still holding strong.
Its funny to think that some Chinese manufactures will stoop so low as to produce a product that’s even a lower standard than the normal junk they produce, but if America buys it…………

After buying Milton air fittings, I will never buy anything else ever again! Everything they make is 10x better than HF. Reallistically, the price increase probably wont be more than $20-30 for the whole shop, and you won't have to worry about replacing **** down the road.

For what I have spent on cheap fittings, I could have outfitted every tool of mine twice with Miltons. I have been using Milton steel fittings for a while and not one leak.

Miltons are what you want. We started using them at my job a few years ago, eliminated 90% of the problems we had with cheapies.

Yup, Milton are the best. I've switched my shop over to them from a mix of HF and HD/Lowes and it has been a great decision.

The Campbell Hausfeld fittings are the same shoddy generic Chinese junk found in Walfart, Home Despot, bLowes, and Meanards. Napa and Sears used to stock good pneumatic stuff, but they have long succumbed to the eastern tide as well.
Around here, I can only find Milton stuff in a few farm stores -- Rural King usually has them, but not TSC. Pretty reasonably priced, too. I was very pleased to find that the good stuff was not all that much more expensive.
Honestly, I can't figure out what is so damn hard about making air fittings that, you know, actually friggin' work.

I recently upgraded to 3/8" type T from Tractor Supply and find that sometimes they can be hard to connect when the line is pressurized due to all the air rushing out. Other than that I've had no problems.

The answer to that of course is that once they have successfully convinced enough people that the old style doesn't work, they will introduce a new improved standard with 13 'O' rings and titanium bonded edges for which they will charge a premium price. They will then force all the Milton holdovers to either convert their shops or their new tools. Unfortunately, all the reasonably priced tools will have had the new style fittings permanently bonded into place to further reduce the potential for leakage. In these cases, the Milton holdovers will be forced to buy leaky adapters and when we complain, well, ...

Milton is the only brand that is wroth buying.
They don't leak and they last a very long time.
I have been using them for 50 years.
Every time I have gotten cheap ones on new or used items they leak and are sub standard.
Buy and use Milton and you will never have a problem. At one time FH sold them. I bought a bunch in the HF store years ago.

Milton, really? i bought a couple of those couplers and one leaked air constantly, no matter what male fitting i used it with. 50% fail rate. Now, I suppose it could have been a problem w/ one of my other fittings but I have not noticed anything in particular about the tool/male fittings I already have, just the milton coupler.

I dont understand why so many have problems with HF QC.
Been using them for 10 years, the only time they leak is when they get old.

How long have you been using them and which type do you have? Are they the color coded ones?
I'm looking at both Legacy and Milton and can't make up my mind. I'm tired of the leaks I've got with the Chinese ones I get from the big box stores.

I actually work to try to reduce the number of couplings and screw hoses, hose reels to system with the only female at the end of a reel and disconnect the tool as soon as I am done with it. I really don't have plug in wall hydrants or should say don't really use them.
anywhere I need to serve air there is a fixed whip or hose reel, try not to plug in sections of air hose.
