Yup. That's a nice looking pair of vices.
Take them both. The horned stationary Parker on resale might also pay for the much under rated Columbian. Providing the jaws are real nice.

Filson, did you ever go back and get that 577?---I'm like drivesitfar, I have two 577s and I'd buy another in a second if the price was right and the condition was right. I gave $325.00 for a Birtman that was almost unused.
I would have went to $350.00 on the Birtman. They are great vises, solid, (heavy, 156lbs.), a very neat design about them. And to buy a comparative new vise, same weight, same quality, USA. made, will run you about 12 to 15 hundred, and you wouldn't have an old, not made anymore, not going to be made anymore, quality tool.
But I'm not a flipper so I could see paying a little more than someone who needs a profit margin. You have to be the judge of your circumstances. You won't go wrong with a 577 if it's a good one, even at $350.00. If your going to flip it, I'd reconsider. There's one that's been on E-bay for nearly a year for $500.00. That's going to be a hard sell.
But all this is just my opinion. Good hunting.

Here's a couple of bullets near me on CL. They are pretty proud of them. Asking almost retail.

Don't let their asking price fool you. Keep it on your watch and play the odds and the waiting game. The Wilton No. 6 is first generation and by far doesn't equal any Wilton since 1965 at the earliest. I would buy that vise for 1/2 that at most. Now, that 400S is nice! Newer, swivel, and lightly used. Still, most people don't have a loose $450 in their pocket. If he needs the money he will update his listings faster. That's when you come in at $275 and make it interesting. I bought a unused Yost 36C that the seller had on forever ay $495. I snagged it for $150. One never knows.
More likely, its half buried in the dirt floor of a collapsed barn's workshop rotting away. Never to be discovered until Aliens come to excavate a charred planet looking for extraterrestrial treasures to sell on their version of ebay.

I know you will VA and thanks for any pics of your chained gems that you can share. I know I forgot a few names on the list of 109 and 209 potential buyers that would catch a plane or have a Paypal sent and a truck in the driveway waiting for a crane and to those I apologize.

Larry, that chain sometimes intrigues me more then your 5 tons of casted beauties. I love your photos!
Jake my boy, you are not a nice person...
You shouldn't piss all over an old man's delusion like that...
If you ever do it again, there will be a fight...
Now, go outside and practice falling down and bleeding...![]()

What do you think of this Parker vise? Im picking it up tomorrow. He wants $30 I know this is a bad pic but that is some casting damage where the face meets the vise it looks like a hole in the pic.

It looks like front jaw is being held in by screws instead of factory pins. Price seems ok, depending on the extent of the damage.

For $ 30.00 I'd already have it sitting in the garage...![]()
A picture of a Craftsman 5198 would be a first...
I feel that the "ever elusive" 5198 will be discovered sitting on some ancient fellow's workbench...
And will only come to light, at his estate sale...
I also feel that it will be in real good condition, because he takes real good care of his tools, and doesn't abuse them...
I hope...![]()

Talked my Brother in law into picking this Craftsman # 5182 4-1/2" jaws for $80 in Oregon. He just loves it. Now he needs a bench.
t4runner, go get that Parker tonight. Hate to miss out on that vise for $30.

Um, KM, the 5182 is supposed to have 3-1/2" jaws... the 1984 is supposed to have 4-1/2" jaws... (1960, 66, & 68 catalogs)
