To the OP... Many will drop $40,000 on a car just get to work so how is $11K for a toolbox you use all day so out of line? If you'd be happy with a HF box cool
I hate **** tools and boxes so that's where I spend my money and I get by with a 20 year old pickup instead of a 2 year old one

It seems as if you have made your decision based on your first and most recent post, but the subject of the thread that you started is "What's y'all opinion on these boxes." So...since you asked, I will offer mine.
I have diligently read all threads about the Harbor Freight 44 and side boxes, even went there on multiple occasions to check them out, but recently received the free SnapOn catalog in the mail at my request. I have spent a bit of time replacing my Craftsman USA socketry and other hard line with SnapOn because I believe in US made and SnapOn quality. I probably will never break a Craftsman socket with what I do, but for ME, it is the principle of the replacement. My tools, my choice. Again, my opinion and you asked.
As for the box, I have had an internal struggle with this one. I wanted to pull the trigger on the HF 44 with side boxes this weekend during their sale, but I didn't. As a non-professional(for the purposes of this discussion), I have a very hard time stomaching the price of SnapOn boxes, although I want one based on my ideals. I can afford both, but the price difference is tough to justify, so I acknowledge your dilemma.
For me, I have made the decision to replace all my tools with SnapOn first, where they can live in my 2005 26" Home Depot Canadian-made upper and lower. Once I have the tools that I want, even stuffed to the gills for a bit, then, and only then, will I consider throwing down the cash for a SnapOn chest. If I can't stuff what I have with what I want until then, then maybe I'll get a HF, but it will be temporary until I am complete buying tools and can shift fires to the box. But that is me and my needs. Yours may differ- I am not a pro, but having handled Harbor Freight tools, US made Craftsman, I have made my choice. It is personal one, as I feel yours will be. If you have the cabbage, then I say go for the SnapOn. If not, then my opinion is that, like me, wait for your personal situation to tell you when the time is right, if ever.

My dealer has the same box in black new on his truck for 6k.
List on my Matco 6s was somewhere around 8k and I paid 4k for it. I think a lot of the drivers are willing to deal on boxes.
My box is worth every penny of that 4k TO ME. I've worked out of crappy boxes where you have to wrestle with the drawers and out of roll carts overflowing with tools to the point on not being able to find anything.
All that being said. One of my former employers bought two of the mr big roll cabs withe two top boxes and two hutches. Paid something like 40k for the whole setup. All this out of a failing shop where I was struggling to bring home $150 a week.

But people who buy that box at a civil price with a trade-in are not nuts... Lifetime box=buy it once in a lifetime=not bad at all.... The number of those boxes in use is a testament to their durability and construction and desired ownership...
Our Canadian Neighbors produce some upper level International boxes that catch my eye.......
The International or that KRL would be welcome in my shop... but not for $11,000..

The drawers are only 19 1/2 inches deep. Ten extra inches is HUGE when it comes to storing a lot of tools.

The HF 72" hands down. Put snap on name plates on it. It's a tool box. Not a car. Take the money you saved and buy tools. Something's you want high end. I don't view a tool box as one of them. They are more a status symbol in a shop or here on the forum. The fit, finish, and warranty is a different story with SO tools. I bet if you tear the boxes apart the are very similar. Extra depth is nice, but it also takes up a bigger foot print. More volume is in the depth and I bet some is lost in drawer height which you will never use. The nameplates are $30 on ebay.

Some people say the toolbox makes you money.... How? It's not a tool, it doesn't tighten and loosen bolts and nuts.... It musts sits there and collects dust (that YOU have to clean up) it don't make you money.... It just holds the tools that HELP YOU make the money
You can bro us if you dont know us. I have a mac mb 510 for my home box. Made in 84 I think. No offence but the hf stuff might not see that lifespan. But that big of a box its a good deal. I have a matco 6s at work. I bought it because I know the qualitys there, as other truck brands.
Again, hardly anybody pays list for a truck brand box. The fact that you keep ignoring that crucial fact makes you look like a blatant troll.

The reason I have lots of nice things is because I didn't sink all my disposable income into a box. Plus I work my *** off.
Most people, and myself included, see no reason to spend so much on a box. We could argue nine ways till Sunday if its a justified choice or not. Besides all the regular cliches about tools making the money etc it boils down to a metal box. HF provides a great platform for people that don't drink the full glass of cool-aide. Tools are one thing, but paying all that extra for the nameplate is nuts.
Craigslist if full of brand new never used snap on boxes because of two reasons.
1) the buyer realized going into debt was a horrible mistake
2) there's better choices
Anyone has the right to buy what they want. At the end of the day I am not paying their truck tab. IMHO the eqiq is the nicest box, but again its not worth anything close to the price.
I do have a Mazda B2000 which looks similar to the ranger.

You can get great deals on truck-brand boxes if you are just patient and shop around. It's like an epic battle on this site between people who are too cheap to buy a decent, American-made box, and those that aren't. (Just kidding, folks.)

Sorry but anyone who says they cant tell the difference between a HF box and a KRL, EPIQ, 5S, 6S, Macsimizer etc... is full of ****. If you're going into the field, what box do you want for 20-40 years? Guess who's going to be able to help you out if you need new drawer pulls, slides, casters etc.. in that time as well?

Me personally if I were working in that field on a daily basis, I'd probably pick up something used off Craigslist or visit the Kennedy outlet in Van Wert, OH.
