Anyone get one this week. Part number FZERO it's 3/8 drive but short like the f80 my driver has several of them. I didn't ask price or bite just trying to get some new tool talk rolling.

Is it reversible, or do you need to flip it over to reverse it?

I have been waiting forever for a quality gearless......neither the astro or the titan do as well as I would like. I hope its true and not just your driver stocking the titan.

I just talked to a good buddy that has a normal snappy man. It's a snappy product I believe and it's gonna be a pretty penny!

No pics I am a bad GJer I know, it was a round head and you changed the on/off. It's cool cause it was new but other than that it's too short for most techs to own, I mean how often do you use your short f80 ratchet? Wish they would have made it in the fl80 length first.

I would imagine most drivers will have them this week or next week. My route never seems to get anything first, they were not selling like hot cakes because he said everyone thought the same thing as me being too short.

I have the 1/4" Titan, use it often. Great tool for close quarters. Can't wait for pics from Snap On.

Oh dear. The 3/8" is the one ratchet that I don't have in anything resembling quality (it's an old raised panel Craftsman.) Was just going to get one of the fine tooth Kobalts and call it "good enough" but this news intrigues me...

What do you mean by "short" F80? Most tool companies consider ~8" a standard size for a 3/8" drive ratchet. Is it comparable to that or do you mean its actually a stubby ratchet like the FK80?

Unless they figured out a way to make the head compact im surprised Snap-On would bother with a clutch mechanism. I think most of the tool companies have had one at one time or another, its all but died out due to being largely regarded as a gimmick. At the very least usually the heads are substantially thicker and wider than a standard geared ratchet.

I might think about one if it was the same price range as an F80, but not at nearly double the cost...

dang, they're proud of that! I might get me one of the $15 versions from NTE and call it a day. I actually want one of the compact head 3/8" ratchets though, either snappy or SK version FC72 I think it is? It's like $80 I think

Awaiting reports. My guess: a lightly modified Titan, with a generous allowance for future exchanges.

I like my Titans. But I'm pretty sure they are stubby because they can't handle a lot of torque. People that buy Snap-On often aren't gentle with their tools. If it's a tool that fits best, they'll use it.

Just confirmed with my driver $179.00 Ill be passing

When I first saw this thread I was like...:D

Now that I see the price I'm like...:3gears:

I was gonna try to find the local driver and pick one up. Now I'll just wait till they show up on eBay. I think at that price they're going to fizzle out.

I use my F80 all the time :dunno: I think most people use 1/4 drive when they need compact...

I smell bull as that is really high for a new standard size 3/8. Even when dual 80 came they where about the same as the 936 series.

I smell bull unless pictures or proper documentation is presented

warmpancakes has no reason to lie, his word is solid. Might be more to the ratchet (one would think-for that price!) but I believe him if he says his dealer checked and its $180.

$180 is sky high for a standard length 3/8 ratchet. Super long like the FLL80, maybe.

I have lots of dual 80's but I'll pass on this one.

Hey Kenosha: that's too much!!!

I'm assuming they are charging so much because they expect them to fail. If a lot of them fail, they will quit making them. Thus, if mine breaks in a few years time after they have quit making it, I'll get a Dual 80 in exchange. So $180 now for a future Dual 80??? No thanks.

Assuming the design is new, could simply be a statement product. Basically you're paying to play with a new technology which might lead to the design that Snap-On ultimately chooses to replace the dual 80 with in however many years. Statement products are often low production priority so higher R&D + low production = premium price.

If its just a fat wide clutch mechanism that has been around for decades then I don't get it.

I would like to see more information on this ratchet since the part number and price of the ratchet are both throwing red flags with my experience along with the gearless thread going on now I have never seen snap on with a part # fzero before always something like fhnfd100 or fhlfd80 and the price is almost double too of a standard ratchet I am not calling anyone a liar it's just I would like to see more facts to back this up since it's out of the norm from my previous history

My snap on guy showed my this gearless ratchet 4 weeks ago...I don't know about your snap on guys but my guy shows me the latest prototypes. He quoted me about $160 for the 3/8" drive. It was simply badass! But I don't like the switch to reverse it.

where is the new technology?

I have had a 3/8" gearless "infinite tooth" ratchet, same size as Snap-On's regular ratchets, for 20 years, and it has never failed. - paid about $20

some new technology!
