HF used to sell one for years so the technology is not new. Snap On know people willing to fork out lots if money for the Snap On name. Their tools are not that much better than others like Apex, Wright, Armstrong, etc..

I guess I don't see the point with the current high tooth count ratchets that are available. I love Snappy ratchets, but I don't have any desire to add one of these to my collection. I would be afraid to put serious torque on it. I am curios to see what the mechanism looks like.

I could see the point if it had zero back drag. As far as strength I've always understood it that the ratchet head itself would have to fail since that's where the load is placed. The square drive would probably snap off before that happens.

where is the new technology?

I have had a 3/8" gearless "infinite tooth" ratchet, same size as Snap-On's regular ratchets, for 20 years, and it has never failed. - paid about $20

some new technology!

At that sky high price im expecting it to be something they designed in house, not an exact copy of a decades old design. If it is, as I've already said, I don't understand it.

as the race for lower arc angle continues it gets more and more difficult to produce such a fine tooth mechanism that will grab and hold such heavy loads and still have enough clearance for the ratchet to move freely. Maybe this is the answer and we'll see a 2' arc angle.

The price is also hard for me to swallow......and I have 9 Dual 80's.

Regardless, it's cool to see a different product on the market (even though it's not a new concept). I bet they will sell these like hot cakes as Snap On junkies are always looking for an excuse to buy another tool.

I got plenty of reason to make up a fictitious snap on tool. Lol, the thing exists. I will get a pic on Thursday and if you want one I will get you one shipped for $200 just for my time and urban legend status.

It's been my plan to be on the his board for years and make up a new snap on tool that doesn't exist, finally my plan has come together but I was hoping for at least 200k replies by now.

Yes IMO the f80 is short for everyday tech work, I think it's too short to even change oil, I reach for the 100 tooth or fl80 to do oil changes. I don't use a hand ratchet all day mostly power and air tools like most techs.

Mac offered gearless round head ratchets with comfort grips more than a few years ago. I remember the heads being on the thick side. Didn't really do anything for me. I'd rather wait and see the new 90 tooth ratchets MAC is releasing than go gearless but, that's just me. The tool trucks have to come out with new tools or they'd run out of things to sell.

Thursday I will show the Bigfoot of ratchets...

I missed the snap-on guy this week... so eagerly waiting for pictures.

Also disappointed/surprised it's taken the forum a week and 3 pages of post, and counting, for a picture that should have been in the first post.

I asked my dealer about them and he should see them by next week. He is not excited about it at all and a lot of other dealers are not either. He said SO is forcing the ratchet on dealers which is odd for a new product.

Same...I think I'll build my dual 80 collection first...

Sorry I don't walk around taking selfies and pics of ratchets all day that exist. Some of us have more to think about than taking a picture of a ratchet for an internet site.

But u have the to post it on an online forum?

The way the thread seems to be heading, this:

might be more suitable. :D

Oh well pretend it doesn't exist cause I didn't carry a phone on the truck to take an elaborate photo shoot it's not a model or something exciting it's a basic ratchet that no one apparently had seen but several have been verified that it does exist. Sorry I'm not part of the now generation taking pics of tools randomly at lowes snap on trucks and asking if a HF box is good.

Even if there was a pic what the point no one else can get one everyone will ***** it's too expensive and too short anyways for a technician to use most of the time

I just talked to a good buddy that has a normal snappy man.

This sounds like a blues lyric to me...

If you want an infinite number of teeth on your ratchet, do you have to meet the devil down at the crossroads at midnight? Would selling your soul be more expensive than stepping into a Snap On truck? Or about the same?

If you want an fzero you need to get it through your crack dealer not the snap on dealer

I believe the purpose of the gearless ratchet is to reduce backlash. This ratchet didn't have any less backlash than a dual 80 and the price was $150 "on sale"

Gearless has supposedly has 0 degrees of sweep (although there is still slop in all of them, and most "zero sweep gearless" ratchets actually have about 3 degrees of sweep (essentially nothing). i believe they are also dramatically stronger than traditional ratchets (or at least stronger than those that have a comparable sweep).

That is so sick! Why am I not surprised to see johnnyocd liking that? That poor guy probably can't go a day without checking everything on the internet twice.
