it must of been too early for me and i didn't notice the last line on your post was actually part of your signature. so the grabbing is more for items that you would consider re selling i'm guessing.

I still wish i lived closer because those industrial lights would definitely help me so i don't have to use readers in my shop. do those run on 110 or 220?

Those HID lights are bright and put out a lot of light for the power comsumed, but don't work well unless you have a high ceiling. They also are designed to be turned on and left running for hours at a time, at least 8 hours to get full life from the bulbs. They take several minutes to reach full brightness, and are not very bright at all when they first start up. Turning them on and off often kills the bulbs.

I put T8 fluorescent fixtures in my shop. They have reflectors, clear glass lenses, and four 48" bulbs. Four of them give me good general lighting in a 40x60 foot shop, hung about 14 feet above the floor. For really bright lighting, I would space them about 12 feet apart unless the ceiling was very low. For a real low ceiling I would use 2-bulb fixtures spaced pretty close together.

The T8's are very efficient (about the same light output per watt as the HID lights), long-lasting, and put out a good light. They warm up fast, but like all fluorescent bulbs they should not be cycled on and off a lot. They also handle cold better than the older fluorescent bulbs. I have a circuit of incandescent fixtures for my "walk-through" lighting for that requirement.

Fill it with sockets and wrenches. Everytime you need a tool, you'll be putting change in the box as a tool fund.

Not from a garage sale, but from Re-Store, a building materials recycling sort of place.

Scored this for $6. Including the boxes with screws still in them.

Moxie, I've got that Pik-A-Nut setup and it even came with most of the boxes (Iff completely mixed up...), and I found a few more boxes later. I even have the paper backers that tell you where which one goes! In the full setup you have 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8 in NC, and NF bolts, nuts and washers on the top three rows, then other handy automotive related fasteners and fittings like battery terminal bolts, a few brass nuts, cotter pins, zerk fittings and the like. I keep restocking it and I can say that setup has saved me mega hours looking for common fasteners, and many trips to the hardware store!

Im hoping to find some newer plastic containers that might fit. My current collection of nuts and bolts fills up three small craftsman tool boxes. Would be awesome to actually organize it all.

I went to an early yard sale this morning. Not much there, but I did pick up a few more c-clamps for $15. A 10" and two 3" clamps.

I don't know why, but I seem to be fixated on winged c-clamps lately. :headscrat

You stole that ratchet and breaker bar, I'm telling...

Jake, good score on the clamps. I was just at a sale and only one guy shopping the garage with me, he mentions a big box of nice clamps on the side he is viewing. I immediately ran over there to find a beer flat with chinese 2&3" clamps...grrrr

Waste of time almost, everything was junk except the cool Crown Top creeper seat I got for $3. The two NOS cans of Stainless paint were $1 each at another sale, third and fourth sale was bust...Hope you guys have something good for me to look at today before I go nuckin futs around here :willy_nil

That's a sweet creeper seat ! A nice cushioned seat would make it more comfortable, but it would hide the logo that makes it special. I don't think I could bring myself to cover it. My boney **** would hate it, but I'd still have a smile on my face everytime I looked at it in the shop.

Good stuff dwright  Can you take a pic of the craftsman box open? I don't think I've seen one with a deep top and 1 drawer before. While I question their pricing logic, I too would have paid and ran.

Good stuff Dave. The red thing is an old chain tool for farm equipment. For breaking, "adjusting" and reassembling chain.

Thanks. I guess I can't visualize how this thing does that with chain but I'll believe you.

You pick a stud that fits the chain you are working on, and then smack it through the link. Hence the taper on the ends to get it going. The back side doubles as a hammer for reassembly. My grandpa kept them on all the tractors. They were made a few miles from where they live. Turn it over, it should say chain tool or something on the backside. ;)

I also got a very old adjustable wrench.

I'm also now kicking myself, the guy had 3 of them for $10 each, I only bought 1.
When I asked him for prices he first said $10 on the ratchet, looked at it then said "oh, I thought this was a torque wrench, it's only a ratchet, $5"

Davefr,
That would be an Indestro (or Duro) sealed-head ratchet. I think I have one, but with a different handle. Scroll about halfway down this page. The head and switch design are pretty distinctive.

However, if you feel like coming into PA, thought I saw something tempting in Brookhaven. And those two vice's are awesome, more pics of both?

I'll take some more! I actually could have bought a few older US craftsman vises this morning, for $10.00 I popped on that one. I havent been able to learn much about the Columbia

I was joking of course about the lack of update, hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather

I'm def interested in heading up there at some point this spring! I'm salivating over those Disstons and I've been meaning to check out Renningers flea market with the wife.

Hey Mavawreck, did you get that from the flea market today? I had it in my hands but passed. If it had a closed lead screw it would have been mine:thumbup:.

Good scores all!!

I did! It was a bit wild this morning wasn't it? I'm actually going back tomorrow in the AM to pick up another saw. I hope it is still there. I don't know where that guy gets stuff, I mean he even had a pile of old boat hardware out there. Started at $15 on the vise but when I started walking off he said $10.00. Its just a little guy but it will be useful in my small basement shop.

Today was one of the best days i've had when you add up the effort, time and money spent in relation to the return.

I hit 1 sale with no address but just a general location. We found it in about 10 minutes and were allowed in 2 hours early. The 2 vises were mine as were lots of small pieces of starrett and other items.

I've never seen a Bridge City Tool before until today and i was able to buy about 30 different pieces, all mint condition. I paid about zero for them so i'm a bit happy

All of the Plomb came from a second sale were i was the only guy that knew about the shed and had about 1 hour of undisturbed access to it.

Plomb pebble wrenches
Heller BP
Footprint BP
Bridge City Complimentary Angle tool
BC Tool ruler and straight edge, there is another 20+ pieces, all inlaid wood/brass, not pictured.
Pile of Craftsman wrenches/crescents
Craftsman/Plomb ratchet
Assorted pocket knices
BS thread gauge
Starrett rule, thickness gauge, micrometer
Lufkin tape
Stanley spokeshave, english made
Barber scissors
Screw extractor
Pick tools
Willson safety glasses, NIB
Crescent duck bill pliers
Ridgid 30" bolt cutters
Import Anvil
There was a ton more items not tool related but nobody would want to see them.
