Hey all,

So my Dad got a Columbian D45 from someone and dropped it off this morning, it appears to be in good condition except for a broken jaw pad, anyone know where I can get a new set? The only place that shows up is viseparts.com but they're out of stock. Other than that when rotating the handle the screw goes in and out great but it's not moving the jaw, I stripped it down quite easily and I feel like I'm missing a Washer or clip or something. How is the front jaw secured so that it goes in and out when the handle is turned?

Here's a couple pictures, any help will be greatly appreciated!

I looks similar to a wish bone. I've got one sitting on my workbench at the shop right now.

Feel like taking a picture when you get a chance? I'll probably just fabricate something or find a suitable replacement but I need to know how it looks.

For the jaw you can use most any material. If it were me I would use just plain steel and make some smooth jaws. You could also use aluminium or brass to make some 'soft' jaws. If you plan to work the vise hard where you need the hard knurled jaws then you will have to search out some. I have two larger vises with factory jaws but one similar to yours with smooth jaws for when I don't want to mark the piece being worked on.

That's my plan, if I can't find replacements, I will just mill out a couple pairs based on the one good one that I have.

Thanks,
Andrew
