Lang Tools 971 Thread Restorer Set and customer service

I recently ordered a set of Lang Tools 971 which is a 48 pieces thread restorer set. Upon arrival, my instinct was telling me to immediate open the set and verify that everything is accounted for. This meant checking the size of each tap and die to be sure nothing is missing or duplicated. Well, I found out I was missing M12x1.50 tap AND die. There were a couple duplicate tools that took their place. I was pretty surprised about it. Seems kind of coincidence that both of missing tools are the same size.

So I contacted Lang Tools via email and told them about my situation. I thought it was going to be a big hassle as I was expecting some paperwork and probably have to send back the duplicate tools and then wait for the correct tools to ship out. One of Lang Tools customer representative answered my email promptly and said that replacement tap and die are being sent out. To my surprised, they arrived within a week.

So in end, even though I was disappointed about this inconvenience, I am pretty happy knowing that I bought a set from a company that know how to take care of their customers. So a big thumb up to Lang Tools!

Always nice to hear happy customer service stories.

I'm actually awaiting my Lang 2584 set that should be here Tuesday or so. I really wish they offered the whole metric set by itself rather than just most of it.

Directly from Lang?

From a vendor you care to share?

To me, missing pieces sounds like something that would happen with a returned set, not so much a brand new, never-opened set. Hence the question.

Good to know. I need to get a single new replacement tap from them I broke being dumb with it. In fact, I'll do that today, thanks for the reminder.

And no- I'm not intending on whining about warranty to them, it was my mistake that caused its failure.

Update - long overdue though - a week after I emailed Lang Tools, I received a small package with the missing tap & die. I would say their customer service deserved a big thumb up!

Chevy EFI - I ordered the set through JB Tools. I actually first reported this issue to them and they advised me that it would be easier & quicker for me to contact Lang directly otherwise they would have to take back the whole set. It made sense and worked out well in the end. :)

No organization is infallible. Glad to see that the issue was quickly and fairy resolved. I like buying from companies like this.

E30, are you referring to the Irwin tap and die? I've got the S-O version of it. It's different in that this is a thread restorer kit, not a tap and die set. I just got mine in today and haven't looked it over, but I will now.
