Probably too late for most here, but has anyone considered Hafco??

I'm impartial to the small cupboard instead of drawers but for your 1K limit you could purchase a side cabinet as well.

If the maker could be found, why don't you folks "down under" find out who the maker is, and see if you could come up with enough folks that want one of these, to do a group buy???

Just wondering if anyone had opinions on the SP Tool Motorsport series toolboxes?

I had been looking at this particular model as an option.

That SP toolbox looks identical to all the Kincrome and Sidchrome Chinese imports, nothing flash with a high retail.

Went and had a look at then and have to agree. Still nothing short of Lista or Snap-On that I'm currently interested in and I don't have the cash for either of those. The search continues.

Hi mate
I went through a multitude of options when i was looking.
The standard box used by some of my guys at work is sidchrome. I dont rate them much, , not for the money.
I have had a couple of white international roll cab and I rated it very highly, especially the heavy duty models. I think they are probably the best Australian new box around.
I ended up watching ebay for over a year and found a classic 78 in brand new condition for 2750.
Thats obviously over your budget but a good deal onre expensive boxes can be had because they don't sell very often so it's a buyer's market.
Kinchrome is rebadged kobalt, theyre ok but I think there are better options.
My local tool shop has around 20 roll cabs on display. If you're near geelong its worth a visit to qualitool.
I would get the wide white international roll cab for your budget. Have a look on ebay for VEK tools as I think they carry them.
I looked at importing too but the dock charges are ridiculous.

I have a dealer of White International where I am, its about 25k's away but I'll go and have a look.

Re: the Snap-On box, how do you know that Snap-On box isn't stolen or didn't having outstanding finance on the box?

Edit: And I'm guessing that E-bay would be a better purchase mechanism than Gumtree etc?

Go to a Kinchrome dealer and ask to have a look at their BlueSteel range. made in Taiwan and much better quality then the Bunnings stuff. I have one of their big rollers and top box and have no plans to ever replace it.

...and I am no fan of their tools, but their range of Bluesteel stuff was quite good.

I wonder how much it would cost to send one here, would probably still be better value than anything we can get our hands on locally.

I just brought four 44" Habor Freight boxes and shipped them to Thailand. Shipping cost was USD89.95 each to get them from Habor Freight to the port (359.80 total) and USD 409.00 for shipping from Long Beach USA to Bangkok including insurance.

Not sure how much more it would be to Australia but I doubt that it would be much more.

Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that i needed the extra space (it was actually the extra depth that i wanted), I would have been happy to stay with the white. I'm generally a snap on person too and whilst there's no doubt that my classic 78 is more heavy duty I wouldn't say its massively superior to the white.
As for any outstanding finance owing I always get a signature of the seller saying it's theirs to sell. But essentially you take that risk with anything you buy really unless it's from a shop or a vehicle which is easily checked!!
With some patience though a bargain can be found for the heritage range of 40" models. I would avoid the 12 draw as its got lesser components compared to the 13 drawer model. If you could stretch to 1300 you should be able to find one if you're in the eastern states..

I looked into it once.
Price from US to Melbourne was around $600 then to unload, customs paperwork, dock charges etc..... was $700+!
The port union basically have a scam going, from memory thereare around 8 different charges to umload it from a container. Stuff like a $100 fuel surcharge for the forklift, and then the forklift charge is on top of that. It was almost comical. If you get a whole container you are ok because there is no unpacking to be done actually on the dock.
Probably better off with airfreight.

Please do let me know when you find out. My box is model 14.514.010: 10 drawers, 200Kg/drawer and overal size 1023mm x 725mm x 1000mm WxDxH (54x36E footprint in Lista-units).

My cost was £1000 delivered (give or take a few quid), but list price is a bit more.
Resusitating an old thread, but I finally asked lista here in au - they had a similar one on special for 2090 plus delivery (about £1068 at the mo). CanUK I think yours may cost a fair bit more! lol

I'm still thinking maxim at this point - nothing in bunnings/ masters or tool shops (sptools, teng, hare & forbes) that get me going, snap on and lista just aren't that frequent on used markets (well, not at reasonable prices anyway lol). $1375 for a 60 inch cabinet that grts good reviews I can live with. All I have to do is work out how to get it in the house! Lol

Yeah thats a great price for that box. Nice find.

ebay is a bit light on boxes currently for some reason.

However there appears to have been a few dozen silver epiq snap on boxes come in as prizes. Theres 4 on ebay at the moment. The ones which have gone previously went for $5000.

Hey sick puppy.
Recently took a look over a Norva box and liked what I saw but I still rate white international as one of the better aus delivered boxes. Not the black ones as they are the cheaper model.
Take a look at dsm too. Expensive but ozzy made.

Maxim make by far the best chests for the money in Aus. I've had mine for 6 or 7 years, way better and cheaper than my mates newer Sidchrome chest.
