I thought I would ask the brain trust before I make a move. I have exceeded the capabilities of my cheap scanner. I would like to find one that can read more codes such as chassis, transmission etc… I am not a mechanic for a living, only as a hobby. Primarily will be used for personal/family and friends. Having said that, a Versus or something like that is out of the question. I am considering a import Tech 2 but that limits me to GM vehicles I think. Is there such a tool out there for a modest price? Thanks in advance!

Do you want ABS and SRS only, or more in depth modules? Do you want/need data capability? What about factory system tests?

I would like to get more in depth. I actually think my current scanner pulls SRS codes. Data capability would be nice.

Check out scantool.net. Lots of good products and a good company to deal with. However their scanners are mostly pc/tablet based. Just my 2cents.
