2014 VW Tiguan.
Rear doors. You "need" this special tool to remove the rear door handle.
I fought with pick hooks and bent up wire hangers and what not.
Finally borrowed this tool from another shop. Did the trick.
I bought one cause if I didnt we would have another Tiguan in the shop tomorrow. Now that I own one, we will never see one ever again.

That's AST T 10389, which from the catalog appears to be good only for the Tiguan.

You need that only because they went cheap and saved $1 per door (X3) by only putting a lock cylinder in the driver's door.

Spline kicks *** if you ask me. Once in a blue moon I'll get one stuck on the bolt head/nut if it was buggered up but thats the only problem I've seen.

Yes, IMO spline is the only way to go. But thats me and not everyone experiences the same fasteners on a daily basis as i do. So its your prerogative to do what is best for you.

They will break; I've warrantied 2 already this past year. Be sure to save your receipt. They are very handy.

After a year and a half I was finally able to find the last wrench I needed (13MM):

F3D01XH.jpg

The rest came from Lowe's clearance and Cripe Distributing, all made in USA.

SK 3/8" extension set to replace some of my older wore out ones. And a Klein screw holding set.

Nicely done. I have some old USA Kobalt BIG wrenches, and they have been great.

It's a monster.
I'll be adding it to my Milwaukee drawer in the 777.

We need to make a Milwaukee addiction thread. :rocker: I am waiting for my M18 fuel grinder/circular saw. Lol

:D Milwaukee is it. Love the 1/2" impacts.
Just took off a crank bolt yesterday with ease. I was doubting it for a sec and started to use the ingersoll w7150 but I chose to use the Mil and she made me proud. My buddies are going to the depot to buy the bare tool now. :spit:
I buy most of it just cause.

Those Stahl will hose pliers look awsome

Don't you mean, "Stall-Ville"?

:+1:
I was thinking the same thing. I have harbor freight units (Pittsburgh):rocker:

I just went to H.F. for those hose pliers, and they were all out :eyecrazy:

I grabbed these wobble "adapters" for $1.99 instead - I thought they were straight drives, but they "adapt" up one size each. The small one is 1/4-inch female to 3/8-inch male, and the other one is 3/8:1/2. I don't know how I feel about that, but they were two bucks, guaranteed forever, and they're shiny.

Yup. Every one else sticks a torx inside the door. Not VW, its a dag gone plastic tab that in about five years is going to be super brittle and break.

^^ I was at the same store you were at today, variety tools

I hardly go anymore, those guys need to embrace the digital age. Whenever the sell something they write it down in a ledger, or if you want something they would write it down, and when you show up the next day, sorry didn't get it in.

Got a few things this week.

Snappy driver walks in and sees me struggling with a retainer clip. Tells me to try his and I was sold.

Been wanting a new air drill for a while. Snappy guy gives me a deal I couldn't refuse. Maybe it's because it's purple?

I bought an amp meter. Parasitic draws are annoying!
