Picked up a 20pc set of open end wrenches with ratchet box ends for around $50 today at sears. They had 16pc sets for around $30. Don't know if it's local or not. This seems to be for the standard length wrenches, the stubby sets were full price

The 20 pc goes on sale for $50 several times each year.

Got mine when they were still Taiwan. I can feel the difference.

Seems like 2 to 3 times per month. I don't even bother telling anyone about this $49.99 price anymore.

I don't. I was buying a grill and happened to notice them on my way to the register. It was a. Combo SAE and metric set. It left off the bigger sizes if I recall

I bought a set around Christmas that was Taiwan made. Didn't really seek it out either. Just figured they were all China.

Just checked mine, indeed China. May take them back since I though they were still made in Taiwan, I should have looked first but was in a rush to get home. I need more wrenches like I need a hole in my head. I picked up a full set of Kobalt wrenches at Christmas time for $20ish I think, I've also got 2 sets of their stubby's I got for $6 a pop.

Of course they are, they're GEARWRENCH at Sears.
Fixed that for ya.

Yes, they were. And now they aren't. And they haven't been for probably about 7 or 8 years or more. So unless you find a store with some REALLY old stock, Gearwrench is made in China now

The Taiwan versions of the sets are still available. I bought mine 2 years ago. Sears and a few other chain stores sell the China versions of GW tools, while the well made Taiwan stuff is still readily available through plenty of retailers (mostly online), including GW directly.
