Box from Wiha showed up today. Couple of snap ring pliers. The insulated pliers set and voltage detector were free with the order.

Lol I was gonna try to use permanent maker but the space is very limited when the sockets are in place.

Tool pimp showed up yesterday at the shop.
He had some of the newer Snappy LI lights with the better designed switch in the handle. Said they had a lot of problems with the earlier production ones and had them redesigned.

Not sure if he was BSing me or not.

However, this is one daym bright light.
Only thing lacking is some type of magnetic mount on the handle. It has a hook plus extra in the box

I have them unfortunately not from the bogo deal mine are Taiwan....I love them but they could have made the cases 1/4 of the size still trying to find a good solution for storage

Storage? Do you keep them in the tool box or carry them around.? I am asking cause I am sure you know :beer:but why not just put them on standard wrench holders(if they will be in a tool box)?
I dont like bulky cases either , they take up too much space. Now as a carry case for on the road jobs yes its good to have incase you drop it but around the house or your shop not so much.
Get back to me.:p

Oh man! My bank account wants me to stay off this forum! Looks like I'll be returning my cheap China-made Kobalt trays today. At least that helps with the pricing. Luckily they're still in the return-window-time-frame.

Since they're aluminum, I'd hammer-stamp sizes into them pretty easily. I don't think I'll label mine, but I think I might sand-blast them and paint them different colors, like black and green. Although paint ***** compared to anodizing. I wish they were Type III Hard Anodized though. Still, I HAVE to get those.

How do the 1/2-inch driver trays fit thicker impact sockets?

The 1/2" ones ****.. The pegs are to close together once you get to 17mm and I have to/you have to space your sockets out. See pics:mad:
The 3/8" are ok to a certain extent:dunno:
I don't know what they were thinking about on the 1/2" plates.
Not bashing at all I just don't like them I show pics of what I am speaking on and how they are set up in my box.:(

Thanks for your honest advice. I ended up getting some in the colors I want, with proper spacing, and fitted to my drawers, and only $5.00.

My new socket-rails, made in the USA "some assembly required":

No biggie and again I am not bashing the company or the rail itself. The rail looks good and was or is a good idea but I don't think they put a complete 1/2" socket set on the rail to use as a gauge for the pegs. I was very upset :dunno: but I kept them.
The 1/4" rails are the same way buddy. I showed them in the pic also.
The best rails I have used are the Kobalt rails and the red red rails from advanced autoparts also shown in my pic.

Keep us posted on what you do after your finished in the lab:willy_nil

You are using the incorrect sized sockets on the rails.

The front pins are for shallow & the rear pins are for the corresponding deepwells. They are progressively spaced wider between the pins to account for the increased socket size. The problem is with your choice of socket placement, not the rails.

The 1/2" rail (set) for metric is designed for the following sizes :

Plate 1: 9mm 10mm 11mm 12mm 13mm 14mm 15mm 16mm 17mm 18mm 19mm

Plate 2: 20mm 21mm 22mm 23mm 24mm 25mm 26mm 27mm

That is about what i have in mine. I dont know what you guys expect out of these. My larger size sockets i just set aside they dont need to be in a tray they wont fall over.

I didn't know they had instructions for socket placement on a rail:mad:,I just fugured it would go in order. I had two sets of these plates and gave the other set away:wtf:. I have had these for a long time and maybe they didn't send instructions with them back then.
I just figured its a 1/2"socket rail so how hard can it be:p

If I am wrong I am sorry for misleading anyone to thinking they ****. That's why I stated that I am not bashing.
To me it should be simple.

I just looked at the site and it did not look like that whwn I bought mine way back when. No engraving option or anything.
I'll just buy two more Kobalt rails from lowes.
Thanks buddy. Ill pass the info to my buddy that I gave them to.

It was so long ago when I bought them. The bigger socket wont fall over as long as you have the 1/2" side up. I just prefer mine on a rail thats all. :p
I was only answering ones question as to what I thought about the plates...

Since my local Sears closed I went to the next closest one. Scoured through the clearance items that I could actually use.

Picked up a few Craftsman Saltus socket wrenches. Pretty cool I think.

Also picked up this cool little Craftsman oil can...apparently never used.

Bought a set of (used) SO Stubby Wrenches and an incomplete set of SK Crowsfeet, as well as some black hardhandle SO hooks, and a SO mirror from my boss (not pictured) for a great price. Problem is, I need to reorganize my the drawer since it's starting to fill up (but the way everything is layed out shows off the oh-so-pretty wrenches!).

Also got the Mountain/EZRed long wrenches a few weeks ago. Buy them! They are so useful, from anything like a belt tensioner to the top nut on the front shocks on Ford trucks, to front LCA bolts/nuts on GM's.

Do keep us posted especially me.

!0-4, will do. Just need to decide on the layout. Right now, I'm considering arranging them in a downward spiral. Might look cool, but could get annoying during use, I don't know. Or maybe arrange them in the shape of some big ole *******, but the metric ***** would hang too low. We'll see.
