So HF has the 72" again and it looks great. Although only 20" deep but STB has a lot of boxes that same depth. For $999 plus shipping the HF is hard to beat but the STB's look to be much better build. Or I could go up in build on STB and get a box with spring casters x6 and 30"D.
What are your thoughts?
Seems if I could get that HF box it would save a ton and I could get a 56" top to put on it and still save over STB...but they look better/build quality.

If the cash is there, STB 30" deep 72" or whatever the compatible size is. That's almost 1/3 bigger box.

I drove myself nuts about this same thing
I was gonna sell my snappy 761 n buy a matching non red box ,I had about settled on a materforce bottom w a homak top (blue) a lil deeper .
I can't for the life of me figure out y the stupid Chinese can't copy a good tool box design
There 2 biggest problems not enough full length drawers and too shallow.
20 in deep boxes **** and are prone to tipping over
I don't have room for a 30 deep box eiether ,24 or so is perfect that's what my snap on is
Masterforce box is 24 deep w a raise and release handle

A toolbox is something you're going to have a long time. Once you get tools in it and setup the way you like, you're not likely to want to swap it out and start over. So my advice would be to buy bigger than you think you need and spend way more on it than you ever thought you would - I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that their box was too big or too well built, but have heard just the opposite 100x.

Strictly tool boxes... site sponcer... big ad on main page..

that^^

yeah I have been driving myself nuts about the box decision and I know the direction I need to go, just need to man up and do it. This is the direction I am going and I am really diggin the green. I will get the bottom for now and go from there. I sold my Whalen 72" SS roller cab and a Kobalt SS top box and now I need to get these tools a new home.

the price is what gets you, looks to be built really nice and for $999 + sh, it would be a decent box....but the depth is hard to deal with since the Whalen box was around that same depth and didn't feel like enough room at all. Plus the side storage box really ate up a bunch of space. This

I have made the decision to pickup the STB 72" roller with the spring casters. Going to be green. Just wish they made a top box for it in green too.

Pick up a used box off craigslist. They are everywhere.

True, but unless you are lucky they usually fall into one of the following categories

1.) Beat to heck and back
2.) Over priced
3.) Both of the above
4.) Good deal, but you have to run to get it, may not be what you are looking for.
5.) Hard to find exactly what you are looking for
6.) Legally used truck boxes carry no warranty.

^^exactly. I have been on CL for quite a long time looking but there is nothing that comes up close to what I am looking for or it is way too much to pay out in cash. The STB boxes are great prices and I will have a warranty on them. If they come damaged then they will ship me a new one.

I really wanted the 72" US general box but when I found out it was only 20" when it use to be 30" I lost interest. I am thinking more along the lines of the 56" with the top.

Cheaper shipping by more of the 20" size fitting in a ship container than deeper versions. You're welcome.
