I'm toying with the idea of either selling or trading in my boxes and side cabinet on something a little bigger. just curious as to what they might be worth if I sold them straight up as opposed to trade value on the big white trucks. they're all in really nice condition, except the economizer, but those were turds from the get go.

Mac MB8200a (serial number 0270091)
Mac Economizer 2000 (made in canada)

I always like those snap on side cabs. They have nice clean lines.

I think $350-$400 on the side cab and $300 on the roller. The top box should be $200-$250. That's just my opinion.

I could see my snap on guy saying $500 for everything. You might be better selling them individually on CL.

The bottom MAC box I went to see yesterday here in Denver. They wanted 300.00 and not as in good shape as yours. Came with some SK hand tools.

Not a very sturdy box so I passed.

Depends on your local market and how fast you want to sell them. You will probably get more in trade in value than person to person sale. Or atleast I have heard some phenomenal trade in values from dealers. CL, again depending on the area and if they are truly as nice as they look in the pics ~$700+/- for all three. Where are you located?

Really? How do you think it compares to the HF44" bottom?

That Snap-On side box is worth $400-500.

The MAC stuff? Don't see that stuff too often. Probably not a crapload. You might be able to get $500-600 for the bottom and top box together. Maybe $750 at the tippy top if you can find a buyer who REALLY wants them.

I agree and think the SO side is the most valuable box you have there. $600 or so is very achievable if it is BB slides. The Mac roller in the $400 range and the top less then $200.

Now as far as trade in value, you have to be careful cause they love to show big trades that could just as easily be discounts. If it were me and I was willing to buy a new box off the truck, I would pick my box, ask for a price with trades, then after he gives you that, ask for a price without. Let him know you know how the game is played and your feelings won't be hurt that your boxes aren't really worth $2500.

That said, your tool man will probably give you as much as you can sell them on CL cause he can get more for them then you on his route.

Your other choice would be to buy a used box off CL or ebay depending on where you are located and how far you are willing to drive and how hard you are willing to look and sell your boxes the same way. Much more work, but you can save a ton. And yes, I have bought and resold a lot of boxes for a profit off Cl and to a lessor extent ebay.

I'd start by seeing what you can do on trade. Unlike a car, I feel you can often do better trading then selling out right. Tool guys can cash a used box faster then most CL sales because he can put right in front of the exact people who buy it and offer payment options other then cold hard cash. If he isn't going to give you ****, then look at selling them yourself. I'd list the side box separate.

If the box you want is new off the truck, you are likely to get a stupidly high trade offer. I'd see what he offers before you waste any time selling privately. I don't see why they wouldn't offer 750, which I think you would have to work really hard to get on a private sale. Not that there is anything wrong with your boxes, mismatched setup n all.

IMHO,
the snapon side box is worth more by itself than the 2 mac boxes put together.

LOLZ.

I was thinking the VERY same thing.

26" and even 40" boxes are not big $$$ sellers.
They'll move quick for low money but not common use boxes for pro's and big money buyers.

I'd love to hear what your driver offers you , but unless he has a know buyer in mind, trade-in may be less than stellar.

You know I live within a half mile of a Harbor Freight but I've never spent much time looking at their boxes. If I wasn't such a snob I guess I would go with the HF especially due to the larger size.

What I looked at was similar to my Waterloo box badged as an SK Tools. Because it was so similar I chose not to buy another one.

I was hoping it was an older two handle model MAC.
