I bought this Montgomery Ward's Power-Kraft stack at an estate sale yesterday for $100. Its is ridiculously clean for it's age. It has no dents and it is missing only about 1/8" of original paint total. it has a few minor scratches.

I have a few questions. How do i find the date code? Has anyone ever seen a matching middle box. Also, do you think the handle on the side or the roller cabinet is original?

It is way better than my previous box, so i am very happy with it.

That is an interesting box Glfeck. What is behind the doors? Shelves or drawers? Did it have the full length drawer pulls or two individual handles per drawer (based on the hole location)? At the bottom, that long compartment is that door hinged downward? What other boxes do you have? Looks like you have a few nice old Matco/Mac boxes.

Very nice, congrats. Sounds like a great deal. I think they are date stamped. Take an up close of the handle, hard to see from that pic. I replied in the other thread. Yes I'm pretty sure they made a middle box, however they are not very common. That combo is pretty tall as is, so unless you are vertically gifted, you may want to do a reality check on the height once stacked.

Say Wut? Creeper storage? that's cool! I've never seen that inside a box! What model is it?

Actually for these new model wide boxes that's a great idea; only with the tall casters, hang an "L" shaped bracket/rails at each end from the bottom, Spaced just longer than the creeper and you could slide the creeper on the rails under the box. a blocking bar at the back and a locking bar at the front and it's even secure!

Yea +1, I've seen creeper/prybar drawers but never a creeper "slot" like that. Sounds like a PITA to keep clean.

Here are my two, small portable and affordable. Especially the one with the drawers that look like hell. It was free after a house fire back in the late 70's, my neighbor gave it too me instead of taking it to the dump.
The one with the stickers is the one my Dad bought for me for Christmas in the early 70's (I worked for Alston Race Car Engineering so that is why all the stickers)

Man I like the one without the drawers a lot, that's real nice!

Some great boxes on here.

Help! This monster has Snap On badges and is red but that's about all I can
tell you about it other than its built like a battleship with 1/8" steel everywhere.
Some kind of cool, but weighs a ton empty. My guess would be a purpose built
deal for manufacturing or rebuilding. Any ideas appreciated.

Overhead florescent fixture is on a trolley that rolls side to side.

All the doors are lockable (or were). Bench top shows signs of some hard rubber or linoleum covering at one time.
004.jpg

receptacles seen here on the lower bench edge are mostly 2-prong,but one or
two have grounded outlets. (possibly replacements).
005.jpg

All the doors below the bench tops have jamb switches for florescent lights
hidden underneath the bench tops.

Another neat feature, swinging trays are located behind the left side door.

Overkill comes to mind here...

no idea on this round deal that opens to the back seen in these next two pics.

Some sort of hotplate on the top with cloth covered cord.

Ramblur, I know that was from a long time ago, and that it wasn't your box (you noted that it belonged to a friend), but any updates? Did your friend ever restore this thing?

Rust, that battlewagon/workbench is the best thing on this thread. I have been constantly thinking and wondering about it since page 70ish of this thread. This is the kind of thing that gets me out of the house and looking for vintage.

MyJunkIsStuff, very nice of you to say. I am very proud of it and happy with it. For many years, I worked out of a super cheap top box out of the ding and dents section. I never had a roller cabinet. At 40 years old, I have my first nice toolbox. If I clay barred this thing, I could probably make it look brand new (I know i never will). It looks almost new now. This stack is such a step up for me. Every time i look at it, it makes me smile. Now I want to find an even better/older vintage box for my 3 year old and the vintage made in USA tools to go with it.

Not sure the age but its beat up like a vintage box. Us made casters not sure about the rest of the box.

always act like the smallest lobster in the grocery store tank

So is that set up the first double bank box? As much I like the combo, I'd have to paint it would red and loose the wood trim.

I believe it was. They were only produced for 2 or so years, a goofy size and layout for the time period.

I lined 12 drawers of my toolbox (all of the top box) today. I will pick up more drawer liner soon. I used the Harbor Freight drawer liner. 7 more drawers to go.

It seems like pretty nice drawer liner for the price. I used the coupons, too.

I'm slowly converting to WallyWorld yoga mats. $9.00 gets enough for 4 (18in deep) drawers :)

Nice boxes Joe; the red and grey craftsman are probably my favorite post 50's boxes they made.

About 1/4in. Found a place that wholesales them:

http://www.sunshineyoga.com/extra-thick-yoga-mats-wholesale.html?gclid=CM7o4Onj970CFU5ufgodRyEAdg

Photo shows 9 colors, but they only list 4 (purple, orange, green & red)

Can't seem to find any to match that bright green though....]

Thinner (1/8in) ones here (also 4in shorter):

Found more colors & BOGO offer:
