Added a gable vent fan with a timer/switch (from 15 min up to 2hrs) just above my garage door. Opposite end of the garage door is a door to my screen porch, only 1 side of which is glassed in, so I get good airflow through the garage now. Helps when I pull my hot car into the tiny, insulated 1 car garage.

BTW - I couldn't find the "what did you do "to" your garage" thread despite a Google search so...

I built a sled for the older Craftsman 10" table saw I brought back from the dead last week. It was left uncovered in a hanger for 2 years. I put a new blade on and sanded then waxed the table. Built side extensions and an outfeed table for it. Took me awhile to get the sled dead square. I used the 5 cut method and after a few set ups I got it down to .005" over 28" of cut. Pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

Then I broke out the Kreg Jig I borrowed from my little sister. I made a bunch of test joints, then built the workbench outlined on their website. Nice little bench, very sturdy. Don't know how they can call something only 2'x4' a workbench?? Anyway that all went well so I guess I will have to make all those cupboards I promised the wife I would build for her this summer when I re-do her kitchen. If those go well then I guess I will build new ones for the garage, my theory is practice on the unimportant ones, them build the good ones!!! Keith

This week one of the shop guys retires after 35 years. I've known him for 21 years and have called him "Dad" since the beginning. Most of the other fellows followed suit and he's pretty much "Dad" to everyone. We wanted to fix him up with a token to celebrate his service so we came up with this. CNC man machined the part and I brought it home to polish, just got done. It's a display/change tray for a Winchester Knife that is engraved with DAD on the blade, sorry no pic of that at the moment.

Reworked the front brake caliber on my 1984 GL1200 Interstate.
This cured the brake rubbing problem I had. And 99% of the slow speed wobble. But I am still hearing a grinding noise up there and still a slight wobble at low speed. Got a new tire on the way. Plan to replace wheel bearing if need be when I change the tire out.

What kind of rig did you use to weld it. Looking at welders to weld 1/4 inch thick angle.

Over the weekend I finished up doing some small odds and ends in preparation of getting my new equipment. I have wanted an air drop near my large roll-up door for several years now and finally added it the other night. Kind of a PITA but was able to get it completely finished in one evening. I "T"ed into my air drop between my solvent tank and where my new lathe will go, ran it up along my small mezzanine/shelf and to the corner then dropped it down alongside the trim for my large roll-up door.

I then started my NEMA 1 enclosure which will house the VFD for my 3-phase lathe. I put a 30A double pole, single throw switch mounted in the door which will kill all power to the VFD after running the 220-volt through a fuse block. I ran the power up under the mezzanine and back to my panel in 3/4" EMT.

Here is the EMT along with the 1/2" copper for my air line drop.

I then ran some 220-volt power overhead and dropped it via some 10/3 SO cord to where my new mill will be located. While I was at it I also ran a 115-volt circuit with a four-way receptacle box to be able to plug in my task light, DRO and power X-axis accessories on the milling machine.

I used a strain relief that I screwed directly into a truss for the SO cords and plugs to hang from. This way there will be no need to have extension cords running across the floor to the equipment which I don't care for.

Still more reorganization and sorting going on at my place, this time on his dad's 16 foot box truck. Considering it's been packed and mostly untouched for almost 8 years, it was full of all kinds of wondrous delights!! I still haven't gotten Billy's cooperation in deciding what's staying and what can go but if you see something that catches your eye just shoot me a PM and it might be yours. God knows there's a ton of this stuff we won't be using ever ... and truth be told, I'm not even sure what some of it is. LOL I took over a hundred pictures but here's some highlights.

Don't worry -- I'm in pretty good shape for an old lady with a used car but have absolutely NO delusions whatsoever about my ability to safely operate big-*** power tools that are nearly half my weight. I was lucky to pick it up let alone plug it in ... or God forbid, use it. It made for a fun picture though!!!

Again, this is merely the tip of the iceberg and I'm sure quite a bit of the box truck's contents will be up for sale in due course. Don't be shy if you see something interesting or need better pictures.

We put the tray in Dad's toolbox drawer and left a "flag" hanging out. He went straight to it to see what/who/why his box had been violated. He got a little misty eyed, but the rest of the day he was checking on it every 10 minutes or so. Went over really big.

Today has been an inside/outside day. This morning I shifted some brush I cut down in the orchard from where I'd dumped it in a pile and have been mowing around it. I then trotted off to the garage to carry out one of my least favourite jobs, winding new line onto the four reels in my petrol line trimmer (its a commercial grade Fuji-Robin with a four line head) The damn stuff always seem to let me get the whole reel wound on and then just as I'm putting it back in the machine I somehow manage to let go of it and twang its unwound like a clock spring and I have to start again. Happened only once this time so I count that as good. Then I trimmed around the orchard and the kids play area and cleaned up the long stuff and then mowed with the push mower in the tight areas. I also sprayed some clumps of nettles with weedkiller.

This afternoon I got back in the garage, dragged the power washer out, and started to clean up the frame from our new to us secondhand greenhouse. Then I managed to work out how the back side bolted to gether and got it back into one piece, tomorrow I aim to do the other three sides and maybe get it back together.

tore apart my harbor freight jack to see about which seals need to be replace to keep it from leaking all over the place.

Cleared the bad gas from the crankcase, rebuilt the carb, installed a new (correct) spark plug, fired up & tuned the Stihl chainsaw I got for free. The guy I got it from said his service shop told him it was run on 4 stroke gas & it was shot. Even has a brand new chain...

It does look to be in fine shape stitan06, though I have no idea how it works yet. There are also three other industrially-large pipe benders on that same shelf with the cutter now. His dad was a trucker (there's a TON of Peterbilt stuff), a welder, worked on pipelines and apparently did some concrete work too. I'm betting quite a bit of it will go to new homes.

Finished the assembly of my new 4 post lift. Not to bad, took about 5 hours over two days to assemble by myself. At first fire up one corner was lagging on going up like the others. A quick check revealed the cable had come off one of the pulleys. Reinstalled on the pulley and all is well now. Now just need to decide on final placement.

hahaha. I know this all too well. Best is when the replacement swing arm bushings dont fit.
