What started off as a Craigslist "wish" turned into reality today - seller needed to pay some bills and I had just enough! Set is in perfect condition. He was bummed to have to sell, but had changed careers enough to where it was, as he said, "an unnecessary indulgence". Foam cutouts for all tools, enclosed in zippered pouch, made to fit in a standard 28" toolbox (looking for one now!) Waterproof Pelican case has wheels. Badass.

Included a few pics, lots of 1/2" stuff, impact driver, drill, wrenches, just amazing. Here are a few pics of what the total set included.

How good did i do? $2800. Yep. Today is a good day.

YOU ****.

The uses for that are phenomenal. Imagine a waterproof tool box!

OP are you gonna put silica packets in it? And does it float?

Phenomenal, sure, practical? Not for many. It's like the folks that drive lifted trucks and never go off the highway. Could it sure, does it, never.

I could definetly see practicality.

**it's funny you use that example. In this town if it's lifted it's dirty. If it's not, it will be soon.

So are you saying it's nice but too nice and won't be used?

worked out of a similar set up for a few years in the air force on f-117's. The newer pelican case with wheels was a welcome upgrade from lugging one of those around lol but I wouldn't have passed it up. If I were more mobile I would be using a very similar setup. Tool foam is the best

Couple of answers:
seller said he was a mobile diesel mechanic. Makes sense.

Practical? who cares. He said retail was over $8k (not sure he paid that though). I did a quick price check on major items: I came up with $7200 and didn't count the small stuff (not to mention my state's 9% sales tax).

What is fantastic is that more than 70% of the tools I didn't have, the biggest being the 1/2" drive stuff ($1500 worth), and snap on impact stuff. Amazing.

There's even one foam holder and nylon cover than aren't used, so I can add the remaining tools I have that would complement the set. However, i really don't plan to use the case - I may put the rest of my tools in custom trays once I get a bigger box though.

Here are all of the tools:

You ****! I thought I was doing good today when I mentioned in passing that I really needed a Snap-On flare wrench set (possibly the one set of tools where quality really, really matters more than any other) and three of the five wrenches miraculously appeared in front of me (friend took them as collateral on a loan that was never repaid) but this is a whole nother level of suckage. That set looks to be in great shape, I'd be proud to rock those.

Brad, you got a good deal there. What puzzles me about this set up, is why in a portable, waterproof box was the original owner carrying air tools instead of all battery tools? If you're someplace with an air compressor, wouldn't you be better off with a conventional toolbox?

lots of sites have air compressors (portable) available all the time.

the quarry next to me has three of them - but you are never far from one.

air>electric any day if you are working on diesels ....

I probably would have spent the money too. It's all great stuff, in one cool case, and in great condition. You did very well.

I had the same thought. He built the set out knowing the environments he'd be working in (read: he said they had bays for them to work so that he could unpack , drawer for drawer, work, then repack and move on). For my purposes I am already thinking about replacing the 1/2" impact with the snap on battery powered impact and putting the big read air monster in my garage tool box.

Awesome. That's the cleanest set of mechanic's tools I've ever seen. Ever.

Either he didn't photograph everything or that is a much smaller set. Don't see the guns, ratchets, a lot of the sockets.

That is very nice! I had a set like that, it was in the military and most of it was SK. The case was cracked unfortunately, but I got it for free and ended up giving the tools to my dad. If I ever come across another like that again Ill be in pig heaven.

The tools are great. But I really like the case and the foam. Now that is a travel tool set. No rattling around and you know right away if something is missing
