What do you use them for?

They wrap over the jaw faces to provide a non-marring surface when you're holding items that the regular jaws will damage.
This pic shows the 6" caps being cut down for a 5" vise.

Nice vise! I like this idea. My dad had an old jig that he used to slide over the jaws. It worked, but it was a pain sometimes. I was going to order a set of smooth jaws or make a wooden jig. Thanks OP! Great idea!
