I'm considering Gladiator cabinets for my garage, but curious as to 'other' options you all may have used instead of Gladiator and are happy with.

Thanks...

I did the Gladiator ready to assemble units. So far I have been very happy with them.

I bought Seville Classics from SAMS Club. I can't compare them to the Gladiator since this is all I have owned. I am happy with the look and quality.

ditto. i've got a few wall units and am going to be getting more once i finish the garage. nicely made, not too deep (which is my only complaint) but deep enough. and the price is very good.

after awhile, i tend to not g.a.s. about what's on the wall and stop obsessing. as long as they look decent and hold stuff and don't fall apart, all's good.

An entire wall of overhead cabinets came from a kitchen remodel for $110, 2 blocks away. Their white paint was even in good shape. :p

I know you said EXCEPT gladiator, but I feel compelled to throw this in. If you are comparing to the gladiator RTA, then look at the premier or already assembled/ welded( I think) cabinet. They are a hell of a lot nicer than the RTA. I have five RTA and one premier that I got at Sears for 99bucks. The RTA 24" cabinets were $29 bucks at lowes. Many may remember that deal from a few years ago....

Carry on!

I just installed the New Age Pro (18 ga.) purchased from Overstock - although they are sold by Home Depot and others. Very impressed with the quality of drawers, fit-up, etc. They are not cheap but were the best (exc. Listas, Vidmar, etc. level) I saw.

I can't really say what to consider beyond Gladiator...But I will say that I have a couple of the Gladiator cabinets and although there is nothing wrong with them and they work just fine, I would put them more in the tin foil cabinet category than the metal category...they are made of some seriously thin metal.

Just installed the husky overhead cabinets from Home Depot. They are fine for the cash, $117 each.

Anyone know if the Craftsman and Husky wall cabinets will rack up to Gladiator's Gear Track?

I've got 6 of these along with 4 of their tall rolling cabinets, workbench and rolling toolbox. Very happy with them. I'll take some pics and post it up later.

Post some pics if you can, I'm really starting to lean towards buying these.

I have two pictures that I took from my floor install a few weeks ago where you can see all of the Seville Classics stuff (and my floor which I am still super excited about). I'll take more close-up pictures of the cabinets for you tonight.

Nice flooring. I'm considering my options for new cabinets also. You garage looks big? How tall are the ceilings?

thx.

Thanks! The garage is ~1800 sqft. 12.5' ceilings on one side and 18' on the other that has the checkerboard pattern.

Here are some more pics of the cabinets. Don't judge me on the mess since I'm still organizing.

I just went with the red/black craftsman cabinets last week. I thought their construction was better than the gladiators and I didn't like the diamond plate pattern either of the gladiators.

The craftsman are currently on sale for $110 each too. I couldn't justify spending so much more for the nicer brands and searching craigslist for the last 6 months or so didn't turn anything up worth pursuing.

Since I have a few extra brackets left over from my wall of Gladiator Premier cabinets I could hang just about any brand on the GearTrack. Lowes had some of the brackets on clearance awhile back. CM VersaTrack hooks can be used on GearTrack but not the other way. The 3 cabinets you mentioned look very different and would probably look best on their own wall.

Thanks for the info. I have 3 sets of Gear Tracks. I'll most likely get the 30" Gladiator cabinets, hoping for a sale in the next couple of months. If not, I'll probably go with the CM cabinets in red.

Very nice.....I'm leaning hard towards the Seville Classics myself now. Is Sam's Club the best place to get them from? I don't have a card. Could get one I guess.

SAMS Club is the cheapest from what I recall. You can also buy direct online, but you have to pay shipping. I bought mine during one of their open houses where they give you a free 1-day pass.

Ohhh...haha Nice. Yeah, I've been bouncing around the web looking for them and it seems SAM'S is the best place to buy them from. I'll figure out something in order for me to get in there. Thanks.

Slowbra- Thanks for posting the pics. They seem nice for the $. Garage looks great BTW.

No problem and thanks for the compliments. I'm pleased with the quality of the cabinets for the money. I looked long and hard for months before settling on these. Let me know if you have any more questions or want more pics.

I've looked at Lowe's version of the tool box and a friend has one. I can't get past the fact it's screwed together. I paid a little more for HF welded box. JMHO:)

I have the Seville classics that I bought direct on sale. I guess for the money they are ok. I wished I had of paid more for better pre-built cabinets. Though I only bought 3 and they are in the attached garage. Whenever I get around to building a shop I don't think I will buy these.

They are quite hard to get and keep square so that the door gap is even. Then when you hang them(as you can see from the previous posters photo's) they are hard to get them all level on the wall and square to one another. The tolerances(what tolerances they cried!) are relaxed to say the least.

If this type of thing does not bother you then these are great cabinets. If you are particular about fit and finish on your wall hung cabinets, I would spend more.

I had quite a few pieces that were bent/damaged. Some they sent me replacements and all the bent backing pieces I just persuaded with a sfh.

The average person probably wouldn't even notice all these things, but from what I have read there are not too many average people on the GJ!

I agree with you for the most part. My walls and measuring skills aren't perfect so I can't blame the company for them not lining up. In fact, I plan on going back out and moving one of the brackets or simply connect the cabinets together. For the money these are great. I don't beat on my stuff nor do I have hundreds of pounds in them.

It's not so much your walls or your measuring skills. It has to do with the tolerances of how the cabinets fit together.

It took me more time than it should have to get the doors to where they were not hitting the opening. One of the cabinets was hanging out from the wall and I had the adjust the rear hooks that they hang on.

I don't beat on my stuff either, quite the opposite. I researched a lot before I decided on these cabinets as well and there wasn't a lot of info on them other than a few people saying they had them and were happy with them(for the money).

Just putting my experience and thoughts on them out there for others to read.

I thought you were referring to the gap in between the cabinets originally.

I only had issue with one door. To resolve it I took the cabinet off the wall, loosened the screws holding the cabinet together, made sure things were square and re-tightened. That fixed it for me.

It's good for people to share opinions and experiences. I like the look of these compared to others I have seen. Like you said earlier, you can spend more and get something better.

I documented my all-Gladiator build and its 99.9% complete. If I were to do it again, I would go with Gladiator Premiere, New Age, or Seville.

Im happy with my results.

Why Gladiator? Because of the sales/deals I was running into, mainly. Gladiator's RTA line has thinner metal, but doesnt affect the functionality for me. There are also a wide variety of hooks, accessories, which all cost $$, but again, I was getting pretty good at finding deals which made it very manageable over a long period of time (3.5 years).

Many people seem to like Gladiator ...I like the look a little better than Seville's shiny cabs...personal preference.
