Hi guys I just bought complete tools chest today. I know its not a premium one.

What do you guys think?
I can bring it back as I haven't open it yet.

I payed around 400 for the kit. Can I get something more for the price?

I have to say that I'm in canada and next to the USA border (45min) away. So payed 400 can.

Should I go used?

roller bearing? if you have the room you can get a HF 44 bottom for 359-369 with coupon. i would prefer it over what you have unless this is a second box or dont have more than 26" of room.

HF doesn't operate in Canada.

Is it your first box? How many tools do you have?

You wont get more for 400 here in Canada,

Ahh size of shop is proof you got a great box. I started with a 26 inch tower like yours but only the bottom box is deep, the middle and top are 12 inches deep. Since then... I now have 3 x 26 inch towers + a HF 5 drawer cart + 2 other carts.

Wow that's a lot of tools.

I have mostly specialized tools, not much pliers. Of course I have a bunch of screw drivers but not much duplicate.

Canadian tire here is a little bit like Harbour freight. They make they own brand of tools.

Yes. Not sure what type of work you do. It can double as a workbenxh and save you some space. That stacker you have is a good piece for a tight spot. You didnt make a bad purchase at all. Sears would have been 5 to 550 US if not on sale with a craftsman. Load it down and post pics

It's comparable price to a Cman yet looks like it might be built better if it has BB slides. I also notice the lid supports are on both sides, better. It's going into a garage with limited space, I think you did alright.

Along with the color, you don't see many dark blue boxes either, you get extra points for that. :beer:

I saw some husky with absorber for the top lid around the same price range.

If you're just leaving it in one spot its fine. I have a husky combo with the master craft middle chest and its isnt bad .it feels kinda wobbly if you wanna move it. If I needed to use it as a professional I think I would be upgrading to a large roller cab really quick. For at home sitting in one spot its fine

very flimsy, IMO. the only decent husky boxes re the old waterloos, which are prob the same thing rebranded you already have.

the newer ones that are designed like their 46" workstation are very lightweight. i bought one and sold it a couple weeks later. you can push in the drawer bottom and watch the slides bend and tweak. 50# per drawer and it will fall apart over time. i had prob 20-30# each drawer and the slides were warped bad, but still slid well. for how long? i dont know.

I bought it... 40" kit with gas absorber for 400$ found it pretty tought. Tried the tray and the close really easily. Easier and tougher than my other Mastercraft...

I think the version a bought is a little different than the one I see on the forum. I'll try to post some pic soon but here's one for now.

Right now I just love it! So much so space! I'll have to buy more tool when needed!

Does your sliders have black or white plastic pieces on your slides? Also are the bottom of the drawers smooth or are they rolled with a square for stiffness

Think the sliders are white but will double check.
I'll check the bottom of the drawers.
The top section is not bolted on the bottom with some bolts on a L shape braquet. The top section just lay on the bottom but with a complete 1/2 border all over the back and sides.

Sliders have white pieces. I don't know what you mean by rolled with a square for stiffness. Mine is pretty flat.

I tried to see if I was having some flex on the top of the tower but I see none.

i posted about this in the 46" workstation thread. the white slides are updated, or just come from somewhere different in general.

the bottom of the drawer basically will have a square pattern bent into the metal for strength. either it will be smooth, or have a half circle pushed into the metal all around the inside of the drawer. think of a square D logo but without the D in the middle. those boxes are pretty decent from the ones ive played with.
black plastics on the slides.... very very very flimsy. cheap slides, even thinner metal on the drawers.

These were my thoughts on that box from another thread, after I saw that box on Black Friday.

I was in Home Depot today so thought I'd check out this toolbox combo they had advertised for $499. No interest in buying, just wanted to get an idea of the quality. I played with the drawers a little and gave it a good once over. I wasn't impressed. When I first saw the combo advertised, I thought, that looks like a pretty good price for a brand new toolbox. What I found was the sheet metal was too flimsy, too much play in the drawers, etc. I know it's geared towards the homeowner, but I wouldn't be very comfortable loading it down with tools myself.

I was hoping the box was going to be better quality.

But if you're happy, that's cool. :beer:

I think I another version...for sure it's not the strongest but I'm fine with it.
