The only sale that was worth going to this morning was postponed due to rain - then, it didn't rain :mad:. I'm hoping to be able to get over there tomorrow after I try to find a seller from two weeks ago at the flea market. (I'm still trying to get the last hex key for the Eklind set I picked up)

The other sellers who went for coffee must have been PISSSSSSSSSSED!! when they came back ! :lol:

Eh, thats their problem. I wasn't going to start rounding them up to shop and the quiet shopping was a bit refreshing from the usual hustle and bustle at an ordinary estate sale:evil:

:scared: :bowdown: Details and pics of the far right red box when you get a chance plz :beer:

I'll grab pics later, it's a 1958 KR-58A that I got at auction a couple years back. I particularly liked the 321 drawer layout up top and planned to restore it but it actually just needs a good cleaning and put to use. Sadly, it needs a good loving home that I can no longer provide.

You **** for that find....sounds like you may have to keep you eye out for some shoes to even the score....all kidding asise great score and great wife...you owe her

Actually, his wife ***** bigtyme, with all due respect ;)

ZK, did Waterloo duplicate the K drawer pulls? That is the giveaway for me, but if the copied...

DT man: the people selling arbor presses herr think they are MADE of gold...

Dave that's a nice score! I don't see many not made by the chi coms.

John, that is probably one of the more valuable "auto wrenches" around. Relatively speaking, Fords are a dime a dozen, non branded are even more common, but one fro an Indian MC? WOW!

ERTY, $5 for all that? (Deep voice) "He swings, he hits, and its going, Going, GONE! A Home Run!

Gorton, Nice saw for a twenty!

I don't know for sure, but the things that tipped me off were the....
a.) Lid reinforcement.
b.) Locking slot on the lid
c.) The drawer slides don't look kennedy from that picture.

:dunno:

Just scores a 1950 Wilton 5" Bullet at an antique store!

Pics and price por favor. Antique store, that doesn't sound cheap. :lol_hitti

ZK, the 26" chests have three pulls. What is different, is the color, unless someone either painted them or felt marked them...

I think the reinforcement on the lid is again a 26" addition, but can't verify quickly as both of mine have too much stuff on top to quickly check...

Yes, you are correct on the three pulls on the 526, I had to check myself and edit on that one. I don't think the 526's had that lid reinforcement though. And the slide clips are a real tip off. :dunno:

Edit, link for reference to the waterloo.

http://www.wttool.com/index/page/pr...Drawer+Tool+Room+Series+Machinist+Tool+Chest+

What would confirm is the slide design. Kennedy has their infamous two piece slide, where as the waterloo would have a single piece I beam, bent up shape.

I know I am late to chime in but the Kennedy 526 does not have the reinforcement on the lid. It just has a little piece for the lock to latch to.

And the Gold Logo:

attachment.php

attachment.php

attachment.php

& Pads for the Sander all the above for $10

and at another stop , $2 14 lbs of lead weights;

Two other stops: .50c Heavy aluminum Pan (Going into camping), .50c for the Brass shower valve body - Price-Pfister;

Three more stops continued:

A Wilton DP vise;

attachment.php

This one will probably get re-sold

The next stop had stuff scattered EVERYwhere; the drill Guide was found in pieces. After I got home it was only missing the 1/4" bolt and wing nut so a couple of minutes in my "hardware store" and its was back in one piece.

Other stuff included the Puller, hinges, and old multi Angle clamp..

attachment.php

As well as a Proto Combination, 6" no name lineman's, Crestalloy Needle Nose, "VB" brand cutters, Circle M 23 and 12mm wrenches, and a 19mm Stubai, from Austria;

attachment.php

I've no clue what those VB cutters are intended for, The design is partly mechanics, and partly garden... Only that top visible jaw had that lip on the tip. so cable cutter, of some sort specialized pruners, hose cutters.. :dunno:

And My last stop one of my regulars at both his home yard sale and the HS flea market once a month. 8 bucks for the Thorsen 1/4, Plvmb DBE, Armstrong BP, Pexto Rivet set, and BluePoints Chisel. Yes, Bluepoints Plural. some tools early on got "blue points" instead og "luepoiunt stamped. it took several years for all suppliers to get it right.. so this Chisel is EARLY.

Nice craftsman bins! I'm with you on the pricing! I found a ton of cool stuff today but nobody wanted to bargain and were asking way too much. I just missed a couple deals though... watched a guy get a craftsman gas edger for 15. Looked a few years old. Another house had galvanized pipe clamps marked at 70 a piece and an old aluminum extension ladder for 50. Too high.

I wasted too much time at professional estate sales. There was decent stuff but way overpriced. Or waited in line just to find out the "huge lot of tools" were mostly rusty Chinese screwdrivers and/or Taiwan socket sets in those flimsy tin cases.

This meager lot all came from the $5 table at a G-sale.

Cordless drill designed for someone with 3 hands and a 32 oz brass plumb bob.

P1030299.jpg

US Navy tap and die set. It includes some pretty scarce tap sizes. Dirty but they'll clean up nicely. The name on them is Greenfield.

I doubt it. I cant even keep track of all the used Chinese no name and harbor Freight tools I see at garage sales priced higher than brand new US made Craftsman.

Some people also think that rust = value. They will sell a brand new name brand tool for dirt cheap because it is in mint condition but that rusted shut pair of pliers is worth 20 bucks because its "vintage" with "patina".

Spent an hour waiting for an estate sale to open that advertised lots of tools and C'man tool chest. There was an empty double stack tool box and on the table there weren't tools to fill the top drawer. 99.99% if the tools were Chinese ****. What a waste.

The box had a "SOLD" sign on it. Does that mean someone had bought it already ?
And you went through it ?

Not sure what you're suggesting. The box had a sold sign on it. Someone had bought it already (I assume). I did not go through it. I did go through the tools laid out on the tables. I was disappointed because I could use a cool vintage bottom box.

I have been keeping my eyes open for a few big C clamps & I found these today, in really good shape. The picture is on the top of my HF tool cart.

2 XL Hargrave Hi-Vis C Clamps. The guy was selling them as 12"s, but I thought they were 10"s. Fully open they have a 10&1/2" opening.

$25.00 for the pair!

Nearly unused SK ratchet set! Pristine Chapman Hex driver set in a nice box! and a set of 9 Craftsman metric DOE's one is broke in half, (10-11) so I'll be watching for a VV DOE... (Not quite sure why, I've almost never used DOE's...) :evil:

$15 all!

Recently I've been seeing "free" harbor freight items for sale in the tool section of Craigslist. Like the free multimeter for $15 the free work gloves for $3. Silly.

Outlaw, I bought almost the same S-K set last year in the same condition, but you got a much better buy than I did, and I did all right.

Slim pickin's today. I spent a whole $2 today.
I found a GearWrench wrench holder for $0.50 and a Channellock 909 Crimper for $1.

I also scored a cool vintage Bakelite cribbage board for another $0.50.
I always pick up interesting-looking cribbage boards if they're priced cheap enough. I don't know why, I just like them. I have one that's my go-to board for a game, but I must have a dozen or more boards of various materials. It's my favorite card game and favorite two player game.

Found this for $.50 can anyone tell me why it's 2 company's names on it?

I think it says over at Alloy Artifacts that the name change was brought around by the lawsuit by Plumb tools and Plvmb dragged their feet by adding Proto name but didn't take Plvmb off.

Lots going on in the next couple of weeks (plus, the weather finally got good here), so I had to choose my stops carefully today. First was a retired mechanic selling stuff off. I'm sure all the good stuff went on Friday, but I picked out a couple of things. I thought his prices were on the high side, so I only got a few things before moving on. The second location I recognized from a sale a couple of years ago. Got most of the stuff here. Stop #3 turned out to be a phantom. Here's what I did get:

At top, there is a =Craftsman= circle-H speeder, a Duro Chrome brake spoon, an Artisan stubby, moving down there's a Stanley bit brace, Waldes Truarc snap-ring pliers, Combos by International Harvester (Never saw an IH tool before, now I've had 2 within a month...) and SK, Screwdrivers by Utica and Irwin/Bell System, offset DBEs by "Chrome Vanadium" (bearing a very strong resemblence to SK), Craftsman Underline, SK (diamond logo), Indestro/Select Steel, and Vlchek (obviously Indestro-sourced). The Button Pattern pliers on the lower left are early Utica (1900s), the DOE is Bon-E-Con, Herbrand battery pliers, Kraeuter combination pliers (1910s-1924), Channellock/Champion DeArment 426, and Channellock needlenose with one broken tip...

Much as I hate to, I'm afraid my sense of responsibility will keep me from going to a tool auction tomorrow...

Went to the auction today! First the things I brought home with me. Bought a box of lamps. There were 4 lamps, 3 magnifies and 1 desk light. One of the magnifiers was a Dazor. :thumbup: The others were no name. The other stuff in the box is pictured and is fairly random :confused: Fuel hose, other 1/8" hose, wires serial/parallel adapter, and a few things I have no clue about. There are 3 "collets" or at least that is the best I can describe them, a Morse taper adapter, and a few other bits. Also a starter cap that is already in use on a previously non-working motor. See what you think from the pic. :dunno: then there was an Oscilloscope. And... my personal favorite of the day, a craftsman woodworking vise for $5. :rocker:

Also, but no pics yet I picked up a Walker Turner DP at a bit too high price and a Craftsman compressor at $25. The motor ran so I figured it was worth at least that. I might have also bought a new 12,000 btu AC unit and a pallet jack, (left bids) but I didn't stick around to see. The DP is close to working, no belt but motor ran, but is really in need of renovation. The quill feels tight and all is generally good but lots of external rust. Might be a few months before I get to it due to (paid) work commitments.
