Hey guys I just wanted to let you know how disappointed I am with milwakee today. I work as a flate rate tech and my tools live a hard life but they don't get abused. I broke an m18 xc battery while doing a headlight resto on a car I was dipping my drill in a bucket of water got done with that job looked down at my drill the battery was breaking of the top so I decided to glue it together till I could go get it warrantied.... so I went into a milwakee service center today told the guy at the counter what happened he pretty much called me a liar. Told me they only warranty of defects in work man ship and I was so pissed I just walked out. It was like a stab in the back I've been so loyal to this brand. Bragging about the tools power and "great" warranty. Just had to get my little rant out pretty pissed with milwakee

There was like 1 inch on water I was dripping the wet sanding paper in the water no water touched the drill in any way. Drill is fine battery's plastic case is what is broken the battery still held a charge and worked fine tho the plastic case where it locks into the drill snapped off

I think he is saying he was dipping the tool he had chucked up into the water.

Do you have a picture of the break and the glue job?

If a tool that's under warranty breaks you should not try and repair it yourself and later warranty it.

That's almost always grounds for warranty denial.

Yes, images would be helpful.

i dont have any pictures as i left the battery at the center but if you can imagine the top portion of the battery had started to seperate you can see where the batteries case is screwed togeter. where the red buttons are the lock the battery into the tools... i glued it together so i could use it until i had time to get it warrantied.... glue did not hold and top portion of batter broke off thus not allowing it to snap into the tools.

battery broke under normal use and still was not warrantied by Milwaukee....... thats ********! sorry if i can't describe the situation enough for everyone to understand but the one thing i know is that i did not abuse the tool in any way and the guy at the counter had the balls to call me a liar. thats some customer service for you.

I'm not pointing fingers at you but now days they probably get alot of people who threw their drill of a roof and want warranty service. People abused the system and ruined it for those who really deserve it.

Maybe the guy at the service center did not treat you that well but it sounds like you didn't help the situation either. I know you are upset, but if you like the tool buy a new battery and move on with life. Getting ticked off over it isn't going to change anything.

Well...

1) If I have a problem with a particular person at a service counter of any type, I usually just stop and come back on a different day and talk to someone else.

2) If you break something and try to repair it, a lot of companies aren't going to warranty it.

3) Option 1 is no longer possible because you left the battery. That was a mistake.

:dunno:Might have been a different story if you had another battery and had not attempted a repair.

This warranty does not apply to damage that MILWAUKEE determines to be from repairs made or attempted by anyone other than MILWAUKEE authorized personnel, misuse, alterations, abuse, normal wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or accidents.

Did you buy your drill at the place you tried to get it warrantied? Why did you give them a free $80 battery?

Just as an FYI, I pulled my drill out of its bag one day (m18) and the battery was the same way that u describe.... I looked through all if my batteries and found a 2nd battery damaged the same way.....
I took them to the Milwaukee rep and they stood behind them..... though they asked a bunch of questions......
The thing that's odd is I found them in the bag that way.... also I rarely use my m18 stuff more than once a week so it all looks brand new...

I think that has to be a common thing with m18 batteries. We have had probably 5 or 6 of them come apart in the same way. Never warrantied them though just bought new ones.

Oh! Something I forgot to say is a buddy runs the service center and said he had never seen it before ..... I felt at the time that he only warrantied becuz it was me.....
When I took the batteries to him I figured he would have said that they see it all the time

Since you left your battery at the Milwaukee service center the guy behind the counter probably sent the battery off to get a new one under warranty. Don't laugh I've seen it happen........

Great.

So you left the battery that might have been warrantied behind after your tantrum? I think you need to grow up and learn how to act more effectively in matters involving your own interest.

I had a bad experience at an authorized center, not an actual Milwaukee center. I ended up contacting Milwaukee through FB and it was promptly taken care of. The service center forgot to order the part for 4 weeks. Milwaukee overnighted the part. Get it back and still doesn't work so Milwaukee sends me a new tool and has me send my old one back. They went above and beyond as far as I'm concerned.

I have always just went right to the source on any power tools. Millwaukee has been great with the couple little issue's I have had.

I would never go into one of the local "repair centers".. From what I can tell they are sales centers that dont even try to do repairs..

I glued one of mine to get through the day before, I only send my stuff to Milwaukee through the e service. They sent me a new battery. Sure I had to wait, but no concerns.

um. then just walk in the service center and tell them that the drills battery came apart after it literally fell over on the ground or something. don't incriminate yourself if it seems questionable. (but only if its a legit claim). although because you did try to repair it yourself, you technically voided the warranty, why not just get your battery back and go to a different service center?
