I don't think any of the tall freestanding cabinets are welded, but I could be wrong. There's a 36x60x18", 36x72x18", 48x72x18", and a 36x72x24".

I ordered the same cabinet, I just get it two months sooner.

Are the ones this size at Sears welded like the 30" or do you have to put it together? Excuse me for my ignorance, but I know that's the advantage of buying from Sears vs HD on the 30" ones, and I wasn't sure if it was the same for the larger cabinets as well.

The 60" tall cabinet and locker Sears sells are welded. The 72" is not. I'm not sure about what HD sells.

Other than being welded, how are the welded better?

Welded gives additional strength beyond bolt together, I understand that.

But are the welded ones a heavier gauge steel or anything? Anything more to this than just welded versus bolted. Are the welded a thicker steel, and bolt together a thinner steel?

Does anyone have both that they can compare gauge of steel between the two?

So welded are Made in the USA, and bolt together are made offshore?

Currently the welded 30" @Premier wall cabinets are US but that could change especially since the RTA manufacturing secrets have been given away. Some Premier products are already imported.

Could be other factors at work as well. The labor costs are cheaper offshore, but then the shipping costs of the welded would be higher. Since the welded are fully assembled in a large box, and the RTA is is skinny boxes. Maybe that's what is tipping the balance. Welded come in huge boxes, RTA put together is in small boxes. Shipping costs from China would be different.

They go on half price sale a couple times a year.

When the Retail price was $199.99, then the $99 sale came around a couple times a year.

But when the Retail price went up to $239.99, gone where the days of the $99 cabinet. When the Retail went up, the "half price sale" then became $119.

So, $119 sale price became the "new normal" $99 price.

I haven't seen this $99 price since the retail went up. It's been at least two years since the retail went up. The only other time prices were at this level is when Gladiator had a "Deal of the Day" that you could order from them and pick up at a shipping location, but that only happened once that I am aware of in the last couple years.

So, $99 probably isn't likely to come around any time soon (if ever). This is a real Hot Deal.

I added to my cart, and have $10 worth of surprise points, plus $2 from Sears/Kmart local ad view, and another buck or so in points. So, mine comes out to $86 after points.

But sadly, even with an $86 price, I still might pass. The 12" depth is a deal killer for me. I'm trying to force myself to resist anything less than a 16" depth for anything. Everything in my garage is 16", 18", or 24". Even the pictures on the website show this with pictures of holding quart bottles of oil, a jug of washer fluid, and a box of Hefty garbage bags. I just can't see myself spending $100 to hold 20 bucks worth of odds-and-ends.

So, I might pass. But this deal is likely to go dead today, so I'm going to think on it some....

I don't think they been at this price since 2 or 3 years ago, that was when I bought my 3.

HA.

Sears just called me, said my cabinet was ready...I canceled it yesterday because they said the delivery date would be in June. :shocking:

Ugh, I hate dealing w/ this company. So much incompetence, on every level.

My local sears ad has these 30" cabinets back at $99.99. YMMV, but FYI. Attached is a flier scan from page 18 of 20 online. Valid for 5/22 - 6/1, zip 62535 in case your local ad doesn't have it. Online price still shows $200.

Oh man this is tempting!! I've been contemplating to either buy these or build my own. I can't decide how I feel about the diamond plating. Someone sway me one way or the other! The Seville cabinets have intrigued me as well. OHHHH the decisions!

The diamond plating is straight out of the 80s. I have 5 Gladiator cabinets, I think I'm going to paint them black.

I'm not a fan of the faux diamond plate myself, but these are really great cabinets and they're made in the states. I almost bought the Seville ones, but I'm really glad I got these instead!

Does the Gladiator Track make the 30" cabinet much easier to mount?

I thought so. I have some mounted both ways. Adds a little flexibility since the tracks are longer than the cabinets. I have some small hooks for miscellaneous things hanging next to the cabinets. Get the tracks when they are half price.

It does, but it is not required. It's much easier to mount and level a piece of track rather than the whole cabinet, then just set the cabinet on the track. But if you do not want the cabinets spaced off the wall the thickness of the track, or don't care for the look they can be easily mounted to the wall like any other cabinet.

Badger & GC,
Thanks for the input..I usually make a French cleat (45 deg brd on cabinet & Wall) with wood..but with a newborn, I don't have much time to do things.. if the cabinet or track comes with hooks or cleats, will get the job done, and will save me time. Then I'm going with it.
I'm assuming no issues using Tap-cons with the track..

Just went to a local store and they had a return with absolutely no damage besides missing mounting hardware. Picked it up for $70!

I think so. Some people are really into not using the track, but with the track you dont have to worry too much about accurately centering/horizontal placement because the cabinet freely slides on the track. If you have a track system or Gearwall system all throughout the garage, you can easilyplace the cabs anywhere as your storage needs and garage design develops.

Can any coupons be applied to this in-store purchase? Looking to get 5 of these, so any extra savings will help.

I've tried at my local sears, and they stated no coupons with Hot Buy Specials. But points work....if you don't plan on using points, you may want to buy all but one, then use those point on the last.....

Anyone know if they are still shipping these to stores...or are they selling out? I only ask, because I received a June 4 pick up due date, as the store is out of stock. Not for sure if I should expect a cancellation.

June 4 isn't that far our. Sounds like your local warehouse is out of them, or next week's truck is already full.

I was getting tires installed early in the AM and just wandered over to Sears and saw these on sale today. They had 7 in the back, I picked up 3.

There's also a memorial35 coupon code that takes $35 off of a $300 purchase with online purchases only but the store manager was kind enough to give me the discount in person (after the fact even since I'd already purchased them and was in the process of transporting them before I'd realized I had a coupon code in my email).

By the looks of it, I should have bought more. When I went back to pick up my 3rd one since they all wouldn't fit even the store display cabinet was gone.

Bottom line, around $88 per cabinet and maybe even a bit more if you go through fatwallet or something like that.

If you paint it, I would like to see pictures!

I also don't like the diamond plating otherwise I would have probably bought more. Definitely let us see if you paint them. I wonder if I can vinyl wrap them. Faux carbon fiber on top of faux diamond plate ... so sad.

I can't get that code to work online

I just bought 6 with local pickup. I was already shopping Ikea or other RTA cabinets for the back wall of my garage build. This will save me like 600-1k over other combos I'd been looking at.

I bought four of these the last time they were on sale and have not taken them out of the box. I'm really hoping they aren't damaged when I eventually get around to unboxing them. It seems not uncommon for these to be damaged, and I can say that the packaging leaves something to be desired.

You absolutely should take them out of the box to inspect for damage as soon as you get them. I just picked up two of them and unboxed them before putting them in the car. One was dented up pretty good on the top, was able to get a replacement right then and there. I wouldn't wait to get them home to check for damage.

The box of the damaged one looked fine so you can't tell until you take them out of the box.
