Awesome. I thought it looked like the Craftsman one. I just assumed that anything Craftsman would have a logo. Thank you.

What are my odds of finding the correct quenching tray? Anyone have a pic of just the tray.

Here's the link for the quench tray -

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/quench-tray-p-972856.html

Now go paint that stand to match the grinder ! :lol_hitti

Edit - I just took another look at your picture. It doesn't look like that model has the hanging slot for a quench tray. You'd have to cut one to make it work.

I had a decent day, while I was at work a tool truck came by (not like snap on, like just a small 1 man business selling tools and supplies, mostly machinist specific, out of a box truck). I got a brand new Starrett 827B edgefinder for an even $20 cash, which I was pleased with.

Then I picked up these two little guys...I don't know what it is with brand new 1/4 ratchets finding me, but it hasn't slowed down here lately. I got this Fleet 1/4 set, which I am fairly certain is incomplete, as it is missing the plastic tray the pcs should sit in. However the rat, the breaker, and all the sockets have never been used. Mix of 6, 8, and 12 pt.

Next is this Powr-Kraft #84-4709 ignition kit. I got it just for the pliers truth be told. Were there Asian-made Powr-Kraft tools? I only as because there is no COO to be found.

CL score this morning, dude has rain man pricing... I picked out two pair of channel lock pliers, a pair of Petersen VG and a single crowfoot and he wanted $100 for them, I put them back. I also asked about Craftsman, he had a box with literally 13 wrenches and about 25 sockets in a beer flat and he wanted $150 :lol_hitti I got this 1/4 Matco flex head ratchet, 3/8 Kraeuter ratchet for Bluebolt, Snap On saltus set for $100...
01304.jpg

It's all up for grabs.

No it's not all up for grabs that Kraeuter is mine!

I have been slowly picking up Dresser era Kraeuter tools and have been thinking about creating a tool board for them. And if I do it will be in the house and will be the first thing you see when you walk in the house through the garage door!

Two stops. $10 for the 1/2" snap-on ratchet gs710 and $3 for the snap on swivel socket, cornwell universal, 12" snap-on extension (the other is craftsman -V- and was stuck to it), and my favorite is the Diamond double ended adjustable (6" and 8").

I hit up a couple places today, right down the road from each other. Results, all USA: SK 3/8 ratchet metric set with spark plug, swivel, and two extensions; a 3/8 flex head New Britain NB-55 ratchet; Plomb 3/8 12" extension, WF-19; Proto 206 wire cutters; a disfigured Plomb 3430 wrench; Wiss shears; and a complete Craftsman hand saw. $13 for all.

View media item 40710
The SK set has a handwritten sticker-price of $37.95 on the outside. When would you say this was bought?

View media item 40711
The saw kit is great because not only does it come with the blades, but it allows for various blade angles.

View media item 40713
The Plomb 3430 has been transformed into a much needed bottle opener, apparently. The extension is a WF-19, which is a Wright Field WWII product.

They honestly could have charged you the 37.95 written on the set and been fair

You're absolutely right. Some people aren't aware of what they have, myself included. They had it priced at $10. I didn't even haggle; except when I asked if they could throw in the New Britain ratchet, and Plomb extension. One caveat, I had to do a little work. They had a bunch of different sets, ratchets, and sockets all over the place in the wrong cases/sets. So, I had to actually put together the right set. I know, it's a tough job, but someone has to do it. I did miss out though, I should've bought the 1/2 SAE SK set. It was priced at $20.

Some minor success around town today. I hit a few sales today just roaming and looking for signs as this is mega garage sale weekend so they are easy to find.
First stop netted a needed planter box for $1 and a temp/barometer/humidity set for $1. The planter is already full and on the back deck in the sun.
planter.jpg
Second stop was an older gentlemen with lots of tool items but a lot was cheap stuff or priced at high retail. I did manage to find these gems. A metal case power strip. You can't have too many, a Proto #5249 3/8 ratchet, A K-D Manuf. No. 431 Door Trim Tool. Made in Lancaster, PA and even had a Patent No.
A 6 position hand punch which he said belonged to his father. W. Schollhorn Co, New Haven Conn. He made sure I noticed it was made in the USA.
And another old movie to play on the garage TV, about Route 66. All for $11
punch.jpg
One last stop at the town resale place which netted another garage movie (Mad Max) and a very pristine Valvoline oil can. Cardboard vintage and still full. Not a scratch on it for $5.
max oil.jpg
Also grabbed a nice old desk lamp and yes it works. It was marked 50% off for $5.

My daughter and I hit the local Memorial Day 100 Mile yard sale today. Pretty slim picking, but I did score two 3/8" ratchets. First one was a Proto 5249 for $6. Works great, but it has been well used. Next was a Cornwell JR-30 for $2. It doesn't work the best, but I think I can degunk it and get it usable. Chrome is in good shape. This is my first experience with Cornwell.

The 5 drawer cabinet i'm really excited about it's in great shape and just needs some paint. I got the cabinet and the old metal film cases for $10.:bounce:

I passed by an estate sale that I saw online and decided not to go originally based on the pictures, but I turned around and went back just because I was close. Glad I did, picked up a box of Ohio plates that are a pretty good run from 59-74 for about a buck a plate. Also got some odd metal bracket with a craftsman crown on it that held some kind of tools. It wall mounts and is fractional, almost like for holding drill bits. I'll have pictures put up eventually.

Edit: It was for drill bits! It looks like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Rep...596?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d1c944fcc

That double ended is pretty cool, though I'd hate to have to use any force on it.

Not planning on using it, it'll get sold. Just always seen them online and thought they were cool. Sort of like a spinner ratchet.

Hi all,

This is my haul from last weekend. Almost a big zip for sales. Unopened boxes of electrical connectors for 25 cents. Two boxes 12 Ga. bird shot for $4 ea. Found the Craftsman lock & it's keys in an organizer of junk I picked up a month or so ago, (looks good on the Cman commercial box I got last year). A brush murdering stick that works better than a weed eater. Weed eaters and door came off a free pile. Needed a decent door for the shop. The Parker vise and the cabinet came from the same sale the mower did for $5 each. The cabinet is heavier duty than it looks & will be the base for my Power King drill press soon.

I have almost run out of bailing wire so I needed another lawn mower. This was at the back of this guys yard at the sale and no one would even look at it. I honed in on it right off. I always miss on decent mowers if I pause for a second. Turns out I know the guys wife and we get to talking. The plastic hood broke off of it (like my old one) so it looks cosmetically challenged. A stick got caught in the belt and rounded it out. And the bagging setup is at his aunts across town. I gave him the $100 before he fired it up to showed me that nothing is wrong with it. He just put a new battery in it, too. While we were talking he paused and said, "I just remembered where I put the new belt". He ran into his shed, rummaged around, and handed me a shiny new $40 belt! And bonus: They loaded it on a trailer & dropped it off. Door delivery! The bagger will follow later on this week.

It's a JD STX38 with a hydrostatic ******. The last time I drove something with a hydro in it was a forklift at one of my first jobs. It's a fun yard machine to drive. After it started up and nothing serious was apparently wrong with it there were people walking over trying to buy it. One lady even drove around the block and came back to check if had sold.

Skip the sissy hood. All I need now is a brush guard off a small quad for the front and I'm set.

Thanks! Our old machine is a John Deere that was purchased new in '89. Still have the owners booklet for it. The engine is still strong and doesn't burn a drop of oil. But every moving part is so worn that things often fall off. Like the steering linkage. Good machines, though. The only short coming is when JD strayed off the path and started putting plastic body parts on their stuff. Shatter city. I would have snagged it even if it didn't run. Your welcome to fly up to Washington state and drive home the old one if if you want!:)

By the way, **** of the year on your magnetic drill. Those ain't cheap!

I had a great find of a garage sale today. I could have picked up a bunch more tools if I had more money on hand. Really nice couple selling off most of his tools and other stuff. I think I made out pretty well and he was happy to make the sale so good all the way around. And now the pics:

My first stop was an early yard sale (the only listing with pictures today). I was first in the basement, but all the good tools in the picture weren't there. It seems that they took the picture before they decided what to keep. Everything I asked about was in the "save" pile under a tarp.
I ended up grabbing a few leftovers (pics 1 & 2).

The second stop listed tools, but most were chicom. After digging, I did manage to find a few good ones though. (pics 3 & 4)

The third stop was supposed to be a gold mine. 15 yards in one neighborhood. It seemed to go on forever. I only found 1 item worth spending money on (pic 5). :willy_nil

The fourth stop was a waste of time.

Stop #1 - $7
A large spool of heavy cotton thread
2 - 1/32" nailsets (one a Miller's Falls, and the other unmarked)
a cheap pencil compass (because I couldn't find mine the other day)
and a Craftsman Crown Top 12' tape measure

Stop #2 - $10
4 Cman DBE wrenches (=V=)
2 Stanley "Bell System" screwdrivers (packaged, addressed, and ready to be mailed :D)
a Snap-On 11/16 combo wrench OEX-22 (1950 date code)
a Cman 9/16" 12pt 3/8"dr socket (=V=)
a Cman 6" 3/8"dr extension

Stop #3 - $3
a Craftsman Crown Top garage creeper (it will probably end up as wall art so it doesn't get ruined)

I'm hoping it stays dry for the FM tomorrow morning.

I had time for one planned stop this morning, got the Baldor grinder and stand for $10, missing one tool rest and the glass for the eye-shields and the lights need to be rewired but it runs strong, the 1HP Baldor motor was also $10. The Petersen vise grip welding clamp was $2 and the 14” aluminum Ridgid pipe wrench was $3, everything else was .50 per piece. The smaller combo set is underlined logo Snap-on metric 13-19 (no 18) with two brand new 6 point 10mm's thrown in, the chisel is Millers Falls and the DBE is CMan, everything else is Klein, the combo’s are SAE 3/8”-1”.

Today was pretty much a washout. The threat of rain caused most people to cancel their sales.

Found this Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver for a buck! It was sealed in a ziplock bag buried in a huge pile of rusty chinese junk tools. Even has the original Snap-On bits in the handle.

snappy.jpg

Then at an Estate sale that turned out to be an abandoned foreclosed house piled with hoarder trash, I found this gun cabinet hidden away in a closet. Got it for $20. It looks to have rarely if ever been used. Had the fun of unbolting it from the wall with the only tools at the sale. A roll up tool kit from a Subaru! It even came with both keys on the original keyring.

guns.jpg

Going to go out tomorrow and see if anyone who did not set up today set up then. It still has not rained yet......

Slow 3 day W/E sales so not a ton here, but not too bad considering.

Seem toy be "But the box" day here too Nine!

First stop I asked about tools (So said the ad...) and the guy got this tub of "junk" out... I see a decent Williams hook wrench on top and some xcelite nut drivers, and he says $3 for the whole tub" Hmm lots o' **** too, but its $3 which is decent for just the Williams and a couple of the nut drivers... OK, I'll sort through it at home!

attachment.php

Here is the haul from the tub, about half were Keepers! :dunno: Surprised me!

The hook wrench a bunch of Xcelite hollow nut drivers, and some orphans, like Crescent, Bridgeport, Vaco and Stanley

attachment.php

A 10" Diamalloy Crescent, Ideal wire strippers, 2 box cutters, a car wash token, and a bunch of sockets: 7 deep, 4 1/2" drive, including a Plvmb, 13 3/8, and a 3/8 craftsman crow foot, 10 1/4 drive, 6 nut-driver heads, all USA. Sockets included Husky, Craftsman Ace Stanley...

attachment.php

The rest I left in the tub, (which is my new reject-sell at the next GS) were all manner of imports, some I'd never heard of. One Socket had a COO of Siri Lanka! :lol_hitti

Got this old craftsman box and the tools at another stop, Indestro Offest DBE, and three S-wrenches:

attachment.php

Inside the box was a Craftsman T handle and a Craftsman Deep, plus 2 MAC deeps, $15 all

attachment.php

An old but common pattern Stanley clamp on vise, this one may be early as it has PAt. Pend cast in...

attachment.php

I got the cast aluminum early USAC sprint/champ car for $2

And the last stop was one of my regulars both at the HS flea and at his house:

$4 for 2 Proto and one SO Combos, some decent small scissors, I know it says, "Fremont O. and something else, but I'll need a decent magnifier to get further... 3 SK and 1 Indestro Sockets.

Going to go out tomorrow and see if anyone who did not set up today set up then. It still has not rained yet......

I give up

:+1: X 50!

And on an "off" holiday weekend too... :dunno:

Love the 1/4 Craftsman sets. Now get them all dolled up, and pimp them. I need a few pics!

May be a while but they'll get spiffied up!

Looks like Crescent
crescent-logo-sm.gif

That looks like it, plus there was a Crescent ratchet and other tools in there so it makes more sense now, thanks!

Love that creeper Jake!!

:+1: X 50!

And on an "off" holiday weekend too... :dunno:

Good score on that stuff Outlaw, killer Craftsman box, I have not seen that style. If that Craftsman crow foot is 3/8 drive 3/8 wrench and you want to sell it, I'm your buyer. I'm missing the 3/8, 11/16 and 3/4...

+ another 1: X 50 again!! Those guys rocked it :rocker:
