I assume you're referring to the "new" format. They completely revamped the board software. I haven't looked into it extensively but everything that was there appears to still be there. Just have to get used to it I guess. I'm an old dog, but I still have to learn new tricks sometimes :)

Upgrades reduce risks. Old guard hates it but itll grow on them. Try talking upgrades at the network54 FE board.

Probably, but why?

I still go there but I admit to not liking it. It doesn't "feel" the same. Yeah, I WILL get used to it but why was this done? What purpose does it serve?

I posed that exact question on the Hamb directed at Ryan, his answer was it was clean.

Which to me constitutes no answer.

So clean it's unusable I wanted to check out a build and waited over 10 min. And gave up before the thumbnail pictures opened, I suppose it could be incompatable with my IPad.I hope Ryan doesn't "clean" Garage Journal and Ford Barn also.

I hope he doesn't plan on "fixing" the Garage Journal too! That new format is just awful. But Ryan is the boss, it's his ball so I guess we play on his terms. It's just kind of ironic that a site that prides itself on the "Old" ways gets so screwed up by the new ways.

I hope he knows what he's doing, but from here it appears he has death wish for everything he's ever done.

He does plan on "fixing" the GJ.

I don't like it either, seems to me all the features he has mentioned, are all the extras, peripherals, if you will.
The main search functions however are far worse, and very slow.
That seems far more essential to me than, now it's supposed to be easier to post pictures.

Consider it an upgrade. The HAMB has not changed much and just in the looks as you still find your the way about the same. Ryan fully intends to implement the changes here and by the time he has all the faults sorted over on the HAMB the change here should go much easier.

There are functional upgrades, and then there are what in the world happened here changes. The HAMB falls into the second category for me. Change happens though, and it's Ryan's world, he just lets us play in it.

It's obvious many do NOT consider it an upgrade, that's the point.

It's interesting this was in free parking as I recall, now it's over here , and has nothing to do with the subjects of this forum.
Less viewers perhaps?
Hmmm. :)

I lurk for the most part over there, love the tech articles but am really not liking the new format. I will keep trying, maybe it will grow on me.
There are worse formats. Some I refuse to navigate.
Time will tell. Trying to keep an open mind.

I''m not a member there but I'm scrolling through Ryan's HAMB right now to see what the hub bub is all about.

I notice a few differences, there's no time when a post was made. Many times, I can tell how a thread is developing (moderation) or dying off while looking at the times of the posts, as well as the date.

The join date, post count and location aren't visible unless you mouse over the member's avatar. Losing the easily visible location creates the same issue members have been talking about for a while. It makes it hard to give fellow members good advice based on their location. While it might be somewhat irrelevant for an auto type forum, I think it's quite pertinent to a site that deals with construction, building and codes.

It looks like many of the members are happy over there with the new lay out, I think it's harder to read than the GJ.

In the end, I'm just a member like everyone else. I don't pay the bills and these things are not my choice. Those are left up to the big guy, Ryan.

You then have not spent time trying out the many new features on offer.

Well, yes it does as this forum will go through the same changes so many of us need to be aware. Not every one here also makes use of the HAMB so even the MODS need to get used to what is going to happen.
It has plenty to do with this forum as the HAMB is for want of a better word a sister forum to the GJ. Any changes on any of his forums usually mean a change on the other forums as well.

Nothing lasts forever. Not GJ, HAMB, or any.

Good point.
