The Wera Joker set looks very interesting, what's with the "insert" in the open end? What does it do, how does it come in handy?? Have you had them for a while and besides the fact that they look great and probably German made, how is the quality and feel? how about a best place to buy (good offers) Very interested...! Thanks :)

The Wera wrenches are freaking fantastic. They are my favorite set of wrenches and are very high quality and nice fit and finish to them. I haven't had them from a long time but they and the Wera brand has been growing quickly on me. I bought them from ebay for 300ish USD. Kinda pricey for 11 piece set but was the only placed I could find selling that set. Amazon.com only has the 4 piece and 8 piece set. Ebay has sets that comes in Ernst Wrench Organizers and other setups too. I was unable to find any other place that retails them here in the US. Well not widely available and convenient at least.

another local factory shipped abroad, thnaks SNA Europe...

anyway, they should be good though!

I got the same news about most of Lindstrom pliers.. they're mainly made in Spain now. Dammit, if I'm paying 80 dollars for a pair of tiny pliers, I want something made in Sweden.

Purchased a new Gearwrench 3/8 12" breaker bar from a generic tool truck that comes around. Bought it because I prefer this head style, and the smooth handle instead of the knurled type.
My only gripe is that it has a notch in the drive for a detent to hold it straight, but no spring and ball of any sort to do so.
But overall I'm quite happy with it for the price.

I also ordered a set of 3/8 semi deep sockets, but they don't appear to be available in Australia. Amazon seems to be the go for me...

ive had stellar results with the one pictured. alot of people love to hate them but they are cheap and effective.

I've got the m12 impact driver and cordless wrench and they are unbelievable for the price. Cpo milwaukee for very cheap..

The impact has a ridiculous amount of power for its size. I tried the m18 version at lowes the other day and I'm pretty sure it'd take lug nuts off without breaking a sweat

I used the old NiCad battery shells, took the battery cells out and screwed a couple of drywall screws through the bottom of the cabinet into the shells. I figure since the NiCads **** after so many years and having to keep tossing them, I'd at least get my money's worth and use them for something that would last a lifetime. I just wish I'd have thought of it before I threw away the 3 or 4 batteries that I did. I managed to keep some NiCads going even after being around 8 years old but soon those will be tool mounts too...

Nice to know, a bit out of my budget for now but good to know what I would be getting, I will keep searching and saving :)

Which Lindstrom's are still made in Sweden? :headscrat

The EX line is from Switzerland (ODM'ed by Ideal-Tek; they also make all of Lindstrom's tweezers), and AFIAK, the rest of their plier and cutters are made in Spain (in factory/ies owned by SNA). :(

If you're still interested in electronics pliers and cutters, you'll want to take a serious look at Schmitz IMHO (German, top quality; get rebranded under NWS and CK Tools for example). No complaints with the ones I bought (all pliers), and came out to ~$28 per pair, including shipping and currency conversion (their online store takes PayPal; ~11 days to my door). Here's a review if you're interested (not by me).

FWIW, the best cutters I've gotten my mitts on, are Tronex (MSRP's aren't cheap though). For example, my most expensive pair of these sell for $120 retail (I only paid $20 new though  ), and most seem to go for ~$70 (FWIW, COO = USA). Try looking for them under Excelta on eBay (how I got mine cheap), and be sure to compare catalogs, as Excelta gets their stuff from all over, not just Tronex. BTW, skip Tronex for pliers (teeth ****).

Hope this mess helps. :)

Are those batteries on the bottom just in the wood with some holes drilled in it? Do they fall out of the chargers on the wall mounted like that? Looks awesome!

Nice choice! Can you share your dislikes with the 120 xp?

Well I did have high hopes I purchased the 1/4 flex 120xp and the 3/8 flex 120xp. First off I was sent what appeared to be almost used items they were new but they were very beat/scratched up. I know its going to get used anyway but still its my hard earned money haha. My 1/4 flex was terrible build quality IMO. The head was not centered onto the detent ball in the flex section and was cockeyed to the right and had play left to right. I was expecting the 120xp mechanism to be smoother than it was mine just felt crunchy even after some super lube. I also figured out i prefer the non locking detent flex much more these felt like the position of the lock was in a non natural position when in. My 3/8 version was fine as far as build quality minus the looks as if it had been thrown around in a pile of gravel. These are very usable tools i suppose and are OK for the price i paid for them they just werent for me. After you use snap on ratchets a while its kinda like nothing else feels right. I dont mind gearwrench but i dont care for their ratchets. My Snap on replacements have been 100 percent since arrival. No quality complaints as would be expected. Hoping to tpick up the long flex 1/2 drive dual 80 16-17 incher real soon and that would complete me for now at least.

Thanks for this. I own the 4 piece 120xp kit. I agree with the rats looking used right out of the box. They also do have the side to side head play which also bothers me. But like you said, for the price, they're pretty usable. One difference is, after i superlubed mine, they are super smooth. I guess it's a hit or miss with these tools. Enjoy the new snaps!

Thanks for your review.

Bro, for some reason the handle in pictures look big, but it's pretty small and so comfortable!

Amazon canada was 40 bucks to my door!

I've got complete set of the BAHCOs.....fabulous ratchets.....they are worth twice the asking price.

14mm hex...for the drain plug on my motorcycle....a bit overkill.

Yeah that's cheap. Especially up here in CashANADA. That's a dual 80 Jobby as well? Even cheaper than a SO mech CAT ratchet @ %60 cost.

I use the Bahco Adjustables but didn't see any of that style last time I was on the ****-On truck.

Yes sir! I just took the back off and gave it a shot of superlube. I just can't believe how nice it is for only 40 dollars. It's so smooth:thumbup:

Yeah so smooth it's not even funny.

Just goes to show the kinda mark up SO is robbing people on.

The CAT 3/8's are like $60. Again allot cheaper.

Nice buy. Think I might have one of those.

I found that a good tightening of the head set screw eliminated the side to side head play in my flex 120xp's. They also still flex freely, with no noticeable extra resistance from the tightening.

You can walk in buy from most Caterpillar equipment dealers. It's all I bought when I worked for CAT. 60% cost for mechanics.

Here is a 3/8 ratchet I bought to replace a lost one. It's never used as I found the ratchet (Glad I did as it had a SO semi deep socket in it)

As you can see its a different handle forging. Same internals as the F936

I also have CAT black SO hard handles, SO pliers set bla bla.
