Good finds, I'm glad to hear Rickster is still around he hasn't posted in a while.

Which flea? Greenmead is coming up, but I don't normally find tools there.

Middlebelt and Pennsylvania by the airport. If you make a plan to go be sure and let me know.
This Saturday may be ******* going to the annual Edison Street Block sale in Dearborn. Not alot of tools but is a fun 5-6 blocks.Could potentially do FM early.Still have those brake tools hanging around here somewhere. Nice scrap save on the boxes!!

No poop or celebrities, how about a Vornado, table fan stool for cool? The fan can be rotated to face out or up to distribute air around. Also got a cool 12" Craftsman chain wrench and some Proto goodness all for a $20 spot.

It will be restored and kept. I saw one on ebay years ago and have been waiting to find one I could afford, this is it. Going in the new house probably, instead of the garage.

This is just great, you saw one and then proceeded to be on the lookout for one. Now that you've found one and shared it here the cycle is just going to continue since now I want one and will be on the hunt. I'm sure I'm not the only one either. Great score btw.

Didn't know this thread existed. But, then again, I also haven't found anything good at garage sales in a long time. Except for this past Sunday, when we hit a garage sale by the house and I grabbed this Husky Pro chest and roller for 60 bucks, including the tools and stuff inside...

Wound up with probably 100 bucks worth of ratcheting tie-down straps, a bunch of random tools, sockets, etc.. Was a pretty good deal just for the chest and roller, the tools and stuff were a big bonus.

Already busy this Saturday, maybe some other Saturday. Probably will try to go to Greenmead on Sunday.

You do realize that comments like that just have to be followed up with pictures??

BTW, nice score on the boxes!

I didn't take any shots of the tools, haven't taken the time and I already have them mixed in with my stuff. Got a couple of Vise Grips that were in great condition, around 10 screwdrivers, mostly Craftsman, around $100 dollars or more worth of ratcheting tie-down straps, around 10 decent sockets (Ace and Stanley, couple Craftsman), an almost complete set of deep impact sockets (no-name but still usable), a ton of random hardware...screws, bolts, eye bolts, etc., most of them still in the packaging. A lot of stuff was in there, lots of garbage to throw away and junk tools that I threw in a box for whenever the wife does her garage sale, but I made out pretty good.

I made out like a bandit just on the boxes alone. I wish I could find info on them because I'd like to know how much they cost new. But, Husky doesn't have their own website so I can't check through them, and no matter what I Google I come up with nothing...

Give it time, hanging around here you will end up having a camera on the workbench with every project thinking how to a build, or how to share this on the forum... Sounds like a nice set of bonus tools you scored inside the boxes.

On the Husky boxes, I'm most familiar with them being from Home Depot, but I see the truck boxes at Sears and other places. The best you can really do may be to compare to what HD currently offers comparable boxes. And the current price for a 27" combo is about $279.

You'll like the sound from those advents when you get 'em hooked up. Back in the day I thought they were one of the best bargains around.

Pretty psyched about this latest find. I was about to buy a HF cart to mod, too. I'm glad I continued to look for something used.

$150, too, with Continentals and steel top. Thanks, 94, it'd look good with a nice fan/stool sitting beside it. Hint hint :D

So, for $150, I can have that Hazet sitting here next to my fan/stool? Thanks Brent!!! :bounce:

Anyone know anything about Whelen flashers? I have access to a coupe boxes of used, one NOS in two styles but can't find info on this model?

Managed to hit this sale by accident an hour before it opened driving around looking for sales. The guy selling it wasn't home so no bargaining, but his wife said anything already marked she'd let me buy.

1/4" Snap-On in/lb torque wrench on the left $5, $20 for all the sockets and rails (swivels are snap-on, bottom rack is snap-on, other rails and loose are mostly craftsman), and the plastic bag is a set of metric craftsman swivels for $10.

$20/each for Lyon cabs.

Went back after work and talked to the guy a bit and got this stuff.
3/8" snap-on torque wrench, $40.
IMG_8106.JPG

About $3/wrench, all snap-on. Bottom left are newer script than the rest. All SAE, biggest is 1".
IMG_8108.JPG

Blue point metric tap/die set $30.
IMG_8107.JPG

Guy had a big Wilton but it wasn't for sale. Still had one of those Lyon cabs but I'm not sure I need another (and it wouldn't fit in the car anyways). He also had a couple of big wrenches, but I wasn't sure on them. Snap-On 1 1/2" for $30 and an angle (like those ones on the left) 1 1/16" for I think $20. Don't think I'd ever use them and I have no idea how I'd ship it to sell it. Also left a few larger Proto and engraved Snap-On, if anyone wants to take a look PM and I'll give you the location.

I know where they come from, that's not the problem. The problem is that I can't find any that have diamond-plate on the drawers and a "Husky" Pro" logo. The nearest thing I found was something similar to the roller that had feet, and the "diamond-plate" on it was cheesy stamped metal, and places were selling that for $550-$650. This chest and roller isn't a $300 HD special, it's definitely worth more than that. If it's not then I'll eat a shoe.

Nice job on the boxes. If you want to get rid of the sharpie on the front, or price tags and their gunk for that matter: lighter fluid. And it won't hurt the paint. Works on stickers on old books, too. Squirt some on, let it sit for a little bit, and off they come. And it evaporates so it doesn't do damage. For sharpies, rub the stuff around and wipe it off. Do it a couple of times. Magic.

Managed one sale. I missed out on the human skull. No kidding. An actual human skull for $60. It was an old scientific specimen. You could unlatch the top and put stuff in it, too (coins or something, I guess). I can only hope to get $60 for my skull at a garage sale some day.

If I brought that into our house, my wife would have my skull in a yard sale right next to it.

Charger was $2. The wheels and merchandiser of NF bolt were $1 each. Caddy grill was $5. Note it's against the mower I picked up a while back that's missing the hood, and I want a brush guard on the front. What to do...

The steel barrel was free. Free is good, sort of. The packing slip describes the contents as 400 lbs pit grease. And after opening it, it turns out it did indeed contain just that. There's about 40+ pounds of it still inside plus a bonus metal rod for dipping.
Grease is good stuff mind you. Just not that much of it. And I'm not sure how to remove it. I want it as a forbidden burn barrel (burn barrels have been banned here by the enviro crazies). You can burn tires in an open pit. But if you burn anything in a barrel, seal pups will die. I think the truth of it is about the aesthetics of how it looks when you burn your trash. If it looks pretty, you are doing your part to save the planet.
I thought about, well, setting it on fire. That seems like the logical course of action. But I think that may go over worse than torching regular garbage with the neighbors. I might send the boy in there and have him scrape it into a bucket. That's probably safe, I guess.

Damn Sack, next real skull you run into at that kind of price, grab it for me please ;) Those grilles bring good money occasionally, I pick them up at the pull a part and flip them on ebay/cl but it would be cool to see it modded on the front of that mower :D

Ditto what Sack said about lighter fluid on stuff. Another solvent, depending on the ink is WD-40.

Sack, maybe you can sell the grease to a mud wrestling place? :dunno:

Sack:My gramps used to buy those 50 or 55 gallon barrels full of grease for his logging equipment. he gave me a couple coffee cans full of grease about 30 years ago and i just ran out a few months ago. it's some pretty good stuff and i had a glove in the can that i used to apply the grease on various tools and things.

i don't think that stuff ever had a shelf life so maybe start filling containers so we can all grease up whatever we need to.

Human skulls as a coin holder sounds a little too creepy for me. note to self sell all skulls to those guys in Louisiana that use them for gator bait or God knows what.:eyecrazy:

About a mile away from where I live there's a few acres fenced off and full of big fancy rocks. Curiously under each one of those stones is a skull. They must grow them there. This bothers me the more I think about it, being so close to home and all. You could go there and harvest them for free. But I bet there's a cosmic law against it. Or a legal one, anyway.
Actually, I didn't know that was a good price on one of them. It was being sold when I got there. Don't know that I will ever see one again, but if I do I'll snag it for you.
I might flip the grill. It only covers the lower front half of the engine and none of the exhaust underneath. Still, for five dollars, that's as much of a Cadillac as I can ever afford. :)

drivesitfar, I'm not sure where in the Pacific NW your at. But if your near Blaine, WA there's four more barrels where I got the one. It's less than a quarter of a mile away from me where they set them out. If they are still out I can always grab one or many and set them aside for you.

I seem to recall it's a federal offence to traffic in human remains except for licensed lab/medical suppliers. :dunno: or it could be something I heard on the interwebs... :headscrat
