Auction find, not really a fan of 1/4 sheet sanders, but they were tied to the RO I was interested in. The RO Dewalt has never been used by the appearance of the dust bag.

$20 for the whole works.

Beat, mid 30's to mid 40's based on the logos. Atlas (now Clausing) IIF Mod no prefix s/b 101. Did you get the change gears? and the milling attachment is worth a fair amount by itself. 1-200 last I saw.
If unworn, with the milling attachment, $700 is a very good price; maybe not a usuck, but not bad... (At least around here)

L&R Demagnetizer $5. (I have no idea what it was used for)

Dave I think that's for demagnetizing watches.

I think you're right about watches. I tried it on some some needle nose pliers and screwdrivers tips and it worked great.

Dave- they are stout little vises, no? I picked this #23-1/2 a while back. All I have is a bathroom scale and it doesn't like to weigh small amounts. I would guess 20 lbs or so.

Dave: what does the Reed weigh? - Nice scores!

Good guess, 19 lbs. (quite a bit for this little guy)

And a pic of the chuck again; the exposed end is supposed to have a knurled ring, and threads inside the top shell. It is a 1/8 to 5/8 Rohm Supra, in case anyone knows of a decent source. so far Google has not got me there...

I had the same problem with an Albrecht chuck from a G-sale. You can:

1. Buy a knurled ring from Albrecht but they're not cheap. Might also fit your Rohm chuck.
2. See if a generic split collar from McMaster would work. (knurling is a "nice to have" vs. a "must have" IMHO.) The problem might be the thickness.
3. Fabricate one - PIA

Flea market this morning, $1 for the sawzall metal case.
IMG_8222.JPG

Back to the sale I hit earlier in the week (I was hoping for another one of those lyon cabs), got these for $10. Three 1/4" Cornwell ratchets, one proto ratchet, two ratcheting snap-on wrenches, a short snap-on combination, two snap-on punches, and a set of proto punches.
IMG_8223.JPG

Also bought a Lyon work bench that I had to go back to and pick up for $20.
IMG_8225.JPG

When I went back to pick up the work bench, I ran into the guy. He opened his tool box and found a couple of other things, ended up spending another $120 on the wrenches (6-19 short combination) and snips (Wiss), and $20 for the flex head snap-on ratchet.
IMG_8224.JPG

I asked the guy when I was loading up the bench if that Wilton vise he had in the garage was on it, he said yes and that he sold it yesterday for $70 to some other guy that spent $500+ there and cleaned him out. One of these I wish moments, but I couldn't go anywhere yesterday.

Good finds Jerry, that was alot from one honey hole.
If you are gonna dispose of the Cornwell ratchets let me know I'd be interested in one.
And I should ad , I have an 18"-36" wide belt sander if you want to clean up the top of that new workbench.

Shadow:that $20 Lyon table was a steal and will look awesome with a little light sanding and clean up. and to pick up those other gems on the return trip was good way to spend a Benjamin and a couple of his friends.

Glad you got the lathe Beatcad, looks even better out in the light! Shadow, you **** for that $20 Lyon table!

I too was coveting that workbench..
and thanks:thumbup:

Thanks guys. Only thing I was concerned with is that it looks like it's had two vises mounted to it over the years, might have to use the other corner or put a plate down. I figured I could use the top even if I don't use the frame especially at that price. I think it helped that they were using it to display a whole bunch of house junk and it was the last day, they were asking double for it.

If you are gonna dispose of the Cornwell ratchets let me know I'd be interested in one.

All of the ratchets were going to get flipped, take your pick and I'll set it aside.

As for refinishing the top, big plans are in the works so I'm just stock piling for the moment. I'll get around to that probably next year.

I started out across town on a tip from a fellow hunter. When I got to the posted sale there were a few items out on the table with a sign that prices were firm, these are not Sears tools, etc. Nothing there that interested me,man of the house was not around. My tipster had told me to see the man and to get him to open the toolboxes behind the table ,large MAC and a Snap On ,but the ladies hosting the sale were not having any of it. So I left and hit a couple other sales posted in that area and came up with these items:
A neatly shaped Vulcan Dynamic Claw hammer
Wizard Hi-Torque 3/4"x 5/8" DOE wrench
Craftsman Long C 9/16"x 1/2" offset box wrench
Lectrolite 9/16"x 5/8" offset box wrench
Indestro 1/2 x 9/16 DBE
Blue Point(USA) 15/16"x 1"' DOE
Crescent 1/4" nut driver
A Titan 24" long 1/2''drive ratchet
Titan 24" long 1/2"drive flex head ratchet
and an EZ-Red 18" long 3/8" drive flex head ratchet

Outlaw, do you think we could turn that collar on one of our lathes?

I could, (I have a lathe also, and the knurling tool for that matter) but see Dave's #3 resp.

I'm looking for a ring, or a parts chuck, but neither seems likely unless I just flat get lucky. Not a horrible loss if I don't, I paid all of $2 for it, but I'd like to get a nice chuck like that on the project Canedy-Otto...

I've never seen that logo myself. It looks like my Cman Commercial only with a cool and not plastic logo. Very nice!

I just picked up a 33" Craftsman combo a couple weeks ago with that logo. I found a date stamp of "7/66" in the top box. Haven't had time to search the bottom. Top box must weigh 150#, had to take all the drawers out to lift it in place. Have to live with friction slides.

Glad to see you guys are all scoring!

Haven't had a chance to go out the last two weekends and I'm starting to go through withdrawals. I had to resort to buying a misc. lot of metric wrenches and sockets on ebay :lol_hitti

Hey thanks Beaumont! Today was less great but not bad. Picked up these two packs for $10, I was only interested in the smaller one but figured I can recoup my money selling off the larger one.
01382.jpg

CUT..

Nine, $5 for that small bag is a pretty good deal. It looks like it's a Rothco Medium Transport Pack and the retail price on them is around $40-50. I have one that I use as an EDC bag. It's too small for long trips but just right for a small utility pack.

Not a garage sale, but a local Swap Meet.

The Colombian Vice is 3 1/2 inch....needs a little work... $10

The Sockets are old Craftsman (top row), and S/K, Proto, Williams, and the other 6 I could not read. $10.
Can someone point me a thread on how to clean them up?

The Snap On set --- $20.

May not be the best deals, but I am happy. :)

Larry

I only went to one sale this weekend, an estate sale on Friday. I got there about an hour after it opened, so things had already been picked over some. I found the following:

Master Mechanic "Precision" screwdriver.
Three Craftsman WF straight blade screwdrivers.
Craftsman T25 and T30 Torx screwdrivers.
Craftsman 1/4" hex screwdriver.
Craftsman 5/8" spark plug socket
Craftsman 3/4" 1/2" drive 12-pt. socket -V-
No-name 1/4" drive 6-point sockets 3/16 to 11/32.
3/8" extensions (Asian). They were duct-taped together and I didn't see that the long one had started shearing off the male square drive end. Into the "save for modification" bin!
Craftsman 9/64 and 5/16 ignition wrenches..
Craftsman Metric Combo Wrenches, 9mm, 10mm (2), 11mm, and 13mm.
Proto 9/16 combo wrench in nice shape.
P&C 3/8 x 7/16 short DBE.
Williams "Vulcan" #11 heavy C-clamp.

Everything was $0.50 each. Total of $11.00.

I've been looking for a heavy duty C-clamp for a specific project. This one will be perfect!

I passed up a small Prentiss vise. It was an exposed-screw, flat bar slide, homeowner-grade model that was missing the jaws. Pretty good shape otherwise. They only wanted $5.00 for it, but I don't need it and left it for someone who will appreciate it.

There was a vise mount post cast into the concrete floor made of 8" H-beam. I asked if the vise was around and they said they had not seen any large vises when they organized the sale. :(

I was only able to work in 2 sales this weekend, and one of those had tools. Not many, but after the lady let me in 15 minutes before start time, I felt obligated to pay $5 for the box with this stuff in it:

1/4" Drive socket rail, unbranded Ford wrench, Craftsman file/tool holder, Channellock 420s, Craftsman -V- offset DBE (don't know that I've seen this style in -V- or =V= before...), two =V= combos, a Vlchek chisel, Wright 1/4" spinner handle, and 2 Thorsen USA metric combos.

Then the second stop was these circle H Craftsman sockets extensions and ratchet. everything to the right of the file is craftsman circle H, and to the left is =V= craftsman on the lower and peencrafts sockets. I got all of these in a old tray for a toolbox for $5
img_1846.jpg

For the interesting part I found the speed bar for the 1/2" sockets that I had in the tray. I had already paid for them and I thought hell I should get it to keep it with the set. I asked the guy how much and the lady came up going, "That's not for sell!" I'm like why not? She said it's antique! I'm standing there looking at her like,:headscrat:eek7:.

I said ok, what would you want for it? She said how much would you give, I said $5? She said not for sell. So I'm still scratching my head and go "You realized you just sold me everything that went with it for $5 and so now you want to break the set up?" She was now the one going,

So I just walked off going" I'll see you next weekend",

I gathered all of my Craftsman circle H and BE tools and started cleaning them to store them in my craftsman carry box I have, kind of wish I had that 1/2" speeder bar but looking on ebay the going price was $10 plus shipping so I wasn't too far off on my offer of $5 since it was rusty.

Oh well i'll just keep looking.

Hit up a sale I found on Craigslist and got this entire lot for $200. Not including the US General Toolbox. A large portion of the sockets are Snap On and Matco and the remainder is made up of Craftsman sockets. There is alot of duplicates in the Craftsman stuff.Very little metric. Most everything is USA made ,quality tooling.Clicking on the picture takes you to a Picasa web album of detailed pics(hopefully)!!

Is that your ad on CL or his? It's only 15 minutes old

I've been looking for a set of 6LN vise grips if you don't mind setting those aside for whenever we trade.

Jerry,
I will set those aside for you. What drive size is the Bluepoint set missing the ratchet? If it's 3/8" I MAY have a Williams clone of the Bluepoint.

OK the Wilton I picked up Sat AM all cleaned up. Hope it sells well. Other than indentations in the aluminum soft jaws, its in extremely good shape. No one hacked into it, and even the anvil face shows little use/abuse.

fast good work! wow, i'm impressed, and jealous, I have maybe an hour a night for projects like that.

And I **** at lettering. I love the black, that little Yost I snagged a few months back is ready to sell except I want to do the lettering, but I keep messing it up everytime I try. What kind of paint are you using?

Rick, I used a Sharpie paint pen from one of the big box stores. Works about like a Marks-a-lot, only with paint.

And thanks guys!
