Hey guys, thought I would make the official Stupid Celebrities Palace Garage build thread since i've finally got the garage project started.

The garage is a pretty standard 21x20 and the purpose is to store the toys and tools.

I just put together my 5pc ulti mate cabinet set which I have to say is a great product. Very easy to put together and is a pretty sturdy and good looking option for those on a budget.

Bought some bike hangers off of amazon that work great and utilize the higher ceilings the garage has towards the rear.

I wanted to get some opinions on placement of cabinets in the garage and what you guys think about there current location.

I am trying to keep the left bay opened for a car so I am minimizing what goes on that side. Trying to shoot for as clean of a look as possible. My girlfriend and I are going to do a chalkboard wall bordering around the garage which should be pretty cool.

Anyways, enough talk and on with the pics -

Nice space you have.

I hear ya on keeping one side clear for a car. That said, unless you drive tiny cars I'd most likely avoid putting anything big against the wall in front of the vehicle. Personally, I find it a PITA to have to do a side-shuffle to squeeze past cars.

For the chalkboard I'm guessing you're talking about that special paint? I think it'd be a good idea, just as long as you don't cover too much of the walls in black. It doesn't reflect light and may make it a dark place.

The only thing I can think of for cabinet placement is that I think I'd like to have the bench adjacent to the garage door. Just a matter of preference but when working on something for a long period I'd rather not have my back against the big door. Maybe just some leftover caveman instinct to never turn your back to the cave entrance? Also, your body would cast a shadow from the natural light over the bench.

All in all, I'm anxious to see your finished (well, garages are never "finished") product and gotta say those are nice cabinets.

Chalk board? I don't get how that has any practicality in a garage and agree with it being dark. At 21x20 you've got a fairly small garage so. I assume chalk board walls will eliminate your ability to hang anything on the walls?

I was assuming the chalkboard paint so he'd still treat it like an ordinary wall and hang stuff wherever. The stuff I've see was also magnetic (quart of it weighs like 10 pounds) so I'm thinking hanging posters/diagrams/whatever could come in handy. Still my concern would be darkness.

chalkboard paint comes in many colours, including white so darkness wouldn't be an issue

Should have clarified a bit more I guess. Planning on doing a 3 foot tall section all the way around the garage in chalkboard paint. The rest is going to be a light grey paint. I may also pinstripe the top and bottom of the chalkboard paint section in blue.

The next big thing for the garage will be racedeck tuffshield but that may have to wait till next year or when they have a big sale.

It should look pretty cool.

Update-

Painted and organized the garage. Didn't do the chalkboard paint yet but will do that this winter. The garage looks so nice inside right now. Amazing what a can of paint will do. It now feels like another living space of the house instead of just a storage room.

Small updates in the garage, could use some advice for storage ideas around truck too. My Raptor is the reason I wanted to keep that side of the garage free of objects. I have about 2 feet of space behind the truck and 1 foot in front.

Things I added-

Gladiator Gear track
Rolling bracket for momo seat (shop seat)
3 door cabinet above tool chest
Shed install (moved a ton of clutter out of the garage!)
air hose reel

Enjoy the pics!

I'm thinking about adding a vertical single wall cabinet next to the big double door one is (where the air compressor is curretly) This would allow me to put a few more things behind closed doors like the vac, jack stands and I can fit the rubbermaid container behind my paramotor inside the big double door cabinet because of the extra space.

Looking real nice, keep up the good work.

It seems you were fortunate to have started with a fairly high level of mud work on the walls, which saved many hours of labor. I bet the ceiling is just as nice, too?

Alot of attached garages I've seen (including mine) have nothing more than embedded tape and no fill...what I believe they call level 1... they "can" be painted as is to brighten them up, but it isn't very visually appealing to see the joints...and is considered something of a hack job by many.

Hi Rich,

They did do a nice job of going beyond just the tape. It was nice and smooth, just needed primer and paint.

Zeke,

I will be taking advantage of the ceilings when I have more to put up but thanks to the shed, most of the stuff I don't use much of is out there. Everything on the ground or walls is stuff I use all the time. I'm going to do a gear track wall on my trucks side of the garage for a few things like the broom and whatever else I find sitting around. I'm a big fan of the "clean look" but still want to be able to wrench and weld when I need to which is the reason I haven't decided on floor tiling yet.

I've got a racedeck sample you can see on the floor which is tuffshield. It looks awesome but dang is it expensive!

Just thought I would add a small update on the garage for you guys. Not any huge aesthetic changes but i've re-organized the clutter a bit and have add a few new toys to the mix.

New things i've added since the last update:

Gladiator gear tracks in new spots, paper towel roll holder, gear track shelf, hangers. These really make a difference when you walk out in the garage, just feels much cleaner.

My wife made me a custom Raptor banner too which is just awesome!

Still have the truck, it's just out of the garage for the pics. The bike took its spot. It takes up the entire left bay of the garage.

Here are some updates pics (sorry if they are a bit large)-

Sold the Ducati and have a new one on the way. Today I did some serious garage cleaning (vacuuming spiders and webs), re-organizing and some painting as well.

Here is the end result and a nice new parking spot for the Ducati.

I sold the Raptor and bought an 08 Grand Cherokee that leaves me with a lot more space in the other bay so I moved the welder and the paramotor to the back wall. I'll get some pics of that soon!

I really am liking the look of the added space now along the "tool" side of the garage, it's a lot cleaner and the Ducati is going to look great tucked into its parking spot.

Based on what you want to do and store in there it looks like your current configuration is great.

I would however suggest you do a shelf above your garage door track on the right side. Looks like you would have a good amount of space there to put some of those items that are currently on the floor.

Very clean setup, looks great! I don't really have anything on the floor anymore besides some paint cans and shoes. The paint cans usually go in the Shed but we've been using them recently. I am going to build a shoe rack at some point.. eventually :)

I have a lot of potential storage space towards the back of the garage where it bumps up, that will be the location I use for storing boxes once we need more storage room.

What model are you getting? I am interested in picking up the new Hypermotard SP after finally having to give up with importing the bike I really wanted (not sold in North America) from Europe.

Very nice garage btw.

Thanks man! I bought a 2013 Hyper SP :) It's supposed to arrive any day now. Very excited!!:rocker:

We have similar taste in vehicles, I've currently got a Raptor and sold my Ducati Monster last year. Excited to see where this space goes!

I'm thinking about painting the concrete foundation blocks either a dark gray or black color. Anyone have any advice on what paint or prep work to do? I plan on sealing off the holes on the concrete to make them more of an even surface.

I think it would look good and will be even more awesome when I one day get the floor done.

I filled the holes in mine and used CIL Smart 3 Ultra premium exterior Paint with primer mine. Love the look it did for mine.

Nice guys, I don't have the Raptor anymore. Fun truck but really enjoying it's replacement - a 2008 Grand Cherokee diesel. No car payments and a really unique vehicle, loving it!

Thanks for the recommendation Dubber, I'll check that out.

Eddie- they are Ulti-mate Cabinets.

That's the Mercedes diesel engine unless I'm mistaken. Diesel's are great, especially for a daily. I can vouch for that.

Yep, it's the 3.0 Mercedes engine also found in the Sprinter and a few other Mercedes.

My wife has a Jetta TDI, we're kind of big fans of diesel engines here :)
