Nice!
Never seen a conveyor system like that. Was that the contractors or the concrete companies?

What did it cost?
Looks like only 3 guys working on it, they had 6-7 when doing mine.

Maybe you covered it but how are you looking at finishing the inside?

Yeah I hadn't either, mason said its only 100 bucks to added it as well, he said he hasn't touched a wheelbarrow since this company added this to a couple of the trucks. I was shocked too, only 3 guys..

Looks like the pour went good. How yards total was it ?

BTW, I'm going to move this to the Garage Gallery section, it's more appropriate over there.

Heard what I thought was faint water running in the house, looked out the window and saw the concrete guys back. They were cutting the expansion joints. Did a grid of 10'x10'..

They are 6 bulb T8's, got 8 of them, with cage guards and a package of T8 bulbs all for 200 bucks. gotta love craigslist, surplus from some big commercial job in buffalo, I didn't ask questions just handed cash and loaded lights..

Got the locks installed on the doors today, ran two electric lines to the back wall, one for the exhaust fan I plan on putting in and the other for the outlets. Then put up the inside purling. The back wall has longer spacing 10' needless to say a 2x4 seems flimsy going that span so I just cut up some blocks to anchor the outside purlin to the inside, really stiffened it all up.

This in the gable end, it was stamped by an engineer and passed my building inspectors approval. But I agree, I just assumed all the poles would be 7'6" apart, didn't realize till we were well passed the point of no return. I then broke out the drawings and it was in the plan I approved..

I probably would have opted for another pole if i had notice earlier..

I'm sure it is a safe design but as you found 10' is just a little harder to finish. The insulating rolls I used come in 8' wide rolls max so they won't work on the wider spacing.

Only had an hour or so out there today, but got the rest of the outlet boxes mounted, then wired them all up and put in the outlets. I went a lil crazy, but being that I am not sure where / how I am laying out everything, this gives me the most flexibility in the future after I close up the walls.

My goal was under 25,000.. I would have been under that by 200 bucks, but I added the ceiling for 1,800 and then the front skirt of concrete for another 1,300.. Then added 700 of rebar..

I did all site work and paid for all the stone, my cousin runs trucks so got the stone at cost, which was another 1200..

So all said and done I am 30,000 right now... If I had gone with the original plan, would have been 24,800 for building, concrete and garage doors.. (no openers yet)..

Money well spent, you would have done that stuff eventually. It's done and out of way now, now you can move forward with more progress.

Electrical? Not yet, waiting on my bank account to catch up with my goals.. I did hear back from the local gas company about getting hooked up. At first they said it would be so much per foot and a charge for the meter when he came out to the property. Then all of a sudden today the guy called me back and said that its under a 100 feet so they can do it for free. I said FREE???

Whats the catch.. He assured me up and down its free, they are a third party to the electric company an have some by law in the regulations that states under 100 feet is a free hook up. He said we re-read it three times and asked my boss about it, it doesn't exclude a second service.

So they must just bill it back to main power company, but I am not going to argue, told him to have at it..

Got 98% of my electrical done now, added the two outside outlets I wanted. All I have left is the two garage lights above the doors and to run my air compressor and welder 220 lines. Then of course the main power from the house.. Also got my 2nd to last stump out today, only took 2 hours, 1hr 58mins on the tractor digging around it and 2 mins with the duramax. Only one more stump to go..

Got the last stump out today.... Next up digging the trench for electrical, 18" down 220 foot run...

My 3 year old son was by my side again today, so put him to work, he piled all the roots in a pile for me, did a heck of a job too..

Started the trench for the electrical wire, 2" conduit going down 18". Was going to rent a trencher, but the only places open on Sunday didn't have any. So i started with the bucket. It was slow at first ground is hard as a rock, but once i got about 20ft down it got really easy to dig. Can do a buck width 20" down in about two mins now..

one bucket down

Nice job of trenching!
Wish I could do that, our clay is so bad my 310A JD backhoe can't do that with the front bucket.

Thanks Dan! I think the only reason I was able to do this is because I used my bucket all winter plowing my driveway, which filed my bucket like a razor. Took 4 hours on the tractor, probably could have gone quicker with a trencher for sure. Still got a lil hand digging to do but looks good. 210 feet

I said it before back when you were grading the pad "You're pretty darn good with that lil front loader" Got any action photos? That tractor had to be raring up to get that deep in the ground. Looks like a pretty sandy soil but you had to have encountered some roots what with all those trees. GREAT JOB!!!
Great deal on the lights. Yea, I don't ask questions in cases like that either. Your build is coming along great, keep up the good work.

Thanks Buick...

Last night I swapped some outlets around and changed the outside outlets to a different brand, I didn't like how the other ones sealed up, these are much better and I ran a bead of silicone as well.

Pinned HD against Lowes in a bidding war on the remain stuff for the shop, starting quote was around 3200. after going back between them both i was able to get lowes down to 2200, they gave me 14% off and priced matched a bunch of local places, they let me use my credit card for additional 5%.

I got all the 2x4's coming to frame walls, plywood for lower skirt, all the insulation for the walls, an attic fan, pex tubing for air lines, 3/4 poly for water lines, pex crimper, 50 t8 bulbs, 2-2-2-4 wire, 1 1/2 conduit and a bunch of other misc stuff..

excited to keep going on this, my goal is to get the walls closed up before i move anything in, its literally killing me as my current garage is overflowing with kids toys, my toys and ****.. Went from a 4 car garage with a huge shed at the old house to 3 car at the new.

For the outside outlets I use the large plastic or metal covers that allow a cord to be plugged in but still close.

I did see those, they're pretty sweet, but i don't really plan on having anything plugged in for an extended period of time out there, just knew if I didn't put some on the outside I would regret it at some point.. :)

Got a lot done even though I was only home for about 5 hours the entire weekend.. Got the trench filled in, elect box mounted, all the rest of my interior supplies and everything ran into the box, only have to add two more lines and i am done with electric.

Box mounting done:
IMG_1735.jpg

Box mounted with mains connected, had to add a grounding barthe box I had was bonded and I didn't notice it till I had it mounted.
IMG_1979.jpg

Finished box wired up
IMG_1319_2.jpg

Added two conduit runs that go into the ceiling to be able to fish lines into the box if needed in the future.
IMG_6252.jpg

Ran the Network Cable
IMG_6599.jpg

Found if I slid on 4 peices, then glued them, tie off the one end to the shovel I could pull all four down the line, worked great and went quick.
IMG_6600.jpg

My little helpers unloading the insulation, 2x4s, plywood, pex, ready to start interior after elec inspection.

Not 100% sure, was going to ask my electrician buddy. I did buy two of them, just need to know what gauge wire to run and how far apart to put them.

Really nice build! I am jealous:D

I may have missed it, but it looks like you decided to not do in-floor heating? What are your plans for heating the building?
